Woodruff Tree Service

I called to get an estimate for removing 2 tree stumps. I had to leave a message and I was very clear what I wanted done and repeated my name and phone number 2 or 3 times just to make sure. I am still waitning for them to return my call 2 an a half months later. I am very disappointed because we found their name on Angie's List.

Great! Mike was very friendly and professional. It took us a little while to stop playing phone tag, but once he came for the estimate, he was able to complete the work quickly and did a great job. He gave good feedback on what needed to be done: The tree over our side deck and roof was cut back so the branches were not dropping towards the house, and the tree on the other side was cut away from our roof to avoid damage. Mike also gave some advice on tree care. His team did a great job on the day of trimming- everything was cleaned up and we couldn't even tell anyone was there (except that the trees looked great!).

Came out with a bid on thursday, Aug. 22nd, said they could do it either Sat. or following Monday. Called Sat. to see if they could come Sunday, which they did. IT WAS SO HOT, but their crew worked entire time to cut and clear efficiently. My neighbor was so impressed , he hired them on the spot to cut a dead maple in his front yard. ( and he is a picky guy!) We had called several companies throughout the summer to come and give us quotes, but they never returned phone calls after that to say when they would be out. My wife and I were very impressed with Woodruff and have already given their number to 2 other people.!!!!

See above. I also believe they overprice the jobs as soon as you mention that you have a coupon from Angie's List.

The Woodruff folks came on the agreed date and time. They took down three large ash trees that were over 45 foot each. They had a special trunk "grabber" that was useful in the tight area they were working in. Woodruff cleaned up the work area very well. A honeysuckle was inadvertently damaged, trust me no great loss, which was discussed as a possibility and they were also removed. The maple tree was trimmed back so that it no longer interfered with the fir trees. I have no hesitation in recommending Woodruff. Thanks for a great job guys!

Actually getting a hold of them was a problem. I called 3 times and e-mailed once over a couple of weeks before they responded. We set an appointment for him to come give me an estimate. He didn't show up that day so I called and left another message. He called me back the next morning to say that there was a mistake with the schedule and that he would be out that day to discuss the estimate. Once he showed up for the estimate, he was very polite and showed me what they would do and how much it would cost. Very agreeable price and I knew that they had good reviews so I agreed to the estimate. I asked when the work would be done and he said that they would be there on Monday unless it rained. It didn't rain and they did not come and they did not call. They finally came over on Wednesday while I was at work and called me when they were done. The actual work was completed quickly - they cleaned up when they were done and the spots were left ready to plant the replacements. Update: I was told when I was given the estimate that if the tree stump grinding was not deep enough to plant the next tree, that I was to call them and they would come back out and grind the stump deeper into the ground. 2 of the spots were ok and I have had other plants put in those spaces. I tried to have a tree planted in the main spot and it still had the stump in it. I have called them every day for a week now and have not received a call back.

It went very well. They did a good job. They cleaned up after themselves. Once I did get it scheduled, they were very quick about getting to the job. They were on time. They were a little slow in the beginning to respond to my calls. There was a few days there where I called and left messages and didn't hear anything back. Once a talked to the guy, once he did come out, the work was done before he said he could do it.

They did a fantastic job. Mike came out promptly to gave me an estimate and--because of a cancellation in the area--his crew was able to perform the work the same day. They were professional, fast, efficient and courteous. Plus, his quote was far below what I was anticipating for the amount of work that I wanted done. I especially liked how they repeatedly asked my input about which limbs I wanted them to trim. The guys also cleaned up very thoroughly when they were done, leaving no mess. In addition, they did a few nice little extras for me for no charge, such as spraying some expandable foam into a hole that had opened up on my maple where a limb--long ago--had been removed. (I had the foam already.) It was very nice of the guys to do that, as it saved me from having to climb up on a ladder. (The hole would invite pests and it would also collect rain water, which would rot the tree, so I was glad to get it filled.) I am very happy with the work they did. I will definitely use them again--and recommend them to neighbors and friends when they need tree work done.

We purchased this service several months ago and the owner has yet to perform the work. We called and emailed on several occasions. We got one call back (voicemail message) and have still been unable to set an appointment up to get our tree trimmed. In the meantime, we've lost a very large branch off the tree during a recent storm - exactly the situation we were concerned about and the reason for wanting to get the tree trimmed. My opinion is that if a business cannot handle the incoming inquiries for work through Angie's List or cannot even be responsive enough to return a phone call or email, they have no business being on the list. The work never happened. It is just a common courtesy to call a customer who's waiting; especially if you can't make it. I called three times on the scheduled day and never got a return call. My time is valuable also. When we made the appointment I told him that I would have to take a half day off from work to meet his schedule. When he called back three days later and left me a voicemail offering a different date, I called him back and accepted the offer of a different date. He didn't even apologize about the no show. I was still willing to work him but he didn't return my call again. I am a very patient person but I find this method of dealing with customers unacceptable. This was my first time purchasing a Big Deal and he made a not so good impression. I found someone else to trim my tree. Thank goodness that I can get a refund.

I emailed Woodruff tree service on 3 seperate occaisions to setup a time for having some work quoted. I need 3-4 stumpd ground and they never would even contact me to set this up. I wanted to use Woodruff, because they have a good coupon to use, but if they don't return/contact the customer; I guess they won't have to honor the coupon either. Pretty bad customer service

It went well. They were upfront about the falling limb damage to the yard. It was minimal. I felt it should be expected with limbs so big. They cleaned up the area too.

Great. They day they gave me the bid they completed the work, cleaned up the yard, not a single twig left laying in the grass. Stacked all the logs for us to use in our fire pit.

I was unable to use the big deal due to the company not responding to any of my phone calls or emails.

I never got the opportunity to find out! It was a NO SHOW!

Mike and his crew did a great job. I work from home so my schedule is flexible and Mike fit me into his schedule quickly. The did exactly what they said they would do, and they were careful to do a very good job cleaning up afterwards. Definitely recommend them and would use them again.

Prompt reply to voicemail left for Mike Woodruff, with estimate given in 2 days and job completed when agreed upon. All workers were very knowledgeable in all the functions they did, used safe practices and cleaned up all debris in a very satisfactory manner. We are very happy with the job done and will use Woodruff for any other tree needs we have.

Mike was the last of the people to respond to my call for bids, and I had nearly decided to use another provider. However, when Mike came to give me the bid, he made several suggestions others had not made and gave me copies of his insurance papers on the spot. This was enough to sway my decision, and I am glad I chose this provider. In spite of rainy weather and my hectic schedule, the provider completed the work only two days after it was originally scheduled, and he kept in constant contact with me during that time. As soon as the rain let up, he was there and the work was completed in less than one day, as promised. The work crew was very professional and efficient, even to the point of doing a bit more work than I had originally asked for. I couldn't have asked for better service.

I obtained an estimate and they called back and scheduled an appointment to come out and take out the trees between 2-5 pm today. I took off time from work and to come and wait for them at the house from 2pm. They call at 4pm and say the previous job took a while and they like to reschedule. I explained that I can only do it now I am busy other days. They said they can't. Waisted my time. I would never call them again.

Job slipped one day due to equipment failure (this was communicated), showed up on time, did work quickly and cleanly, cleanup was done well, fee was as expected.

They were great. They were very professional. They did a beautiful job. I referred to them friends, and they did a beautiful job for them as well. I was very very pleased.

We spoke on the phone and had problems with scheduling. He was to call back but didn't, neither did I.

Mike Woodruff visited our home to give us an estimate. The work was done in a timely, professional, courteous manner. They honored the discount on Angie's List, and they didn't expect payment until we were satisfied with services. We found the price to be fair and would call them again for future needs.

Had appt scheduled for afternooon on 7-2-13. Received call earlier in the day with message canceling the appt. I called the phone # left in the message 3 times over the next several days requesting a CB and no return calls were received. From reading other Angies List members, this seems to be routine for this company. Published deals mean nothing if the company offering the deals won't return calls.
