Wingler Construction & Remodeling has been the local Columbus choice (since 1960) for replacement windows and other home remodeling projects. We supply and install many types and materials of windows.
Scheduling and installation couldn't have gone smoother. They worked around our schedule. Installer Jim M. was there as scheduled and did an amazing job. We are very pleased and would highly recommend this company.

The repair took only 5 minutes but we were charged for two hours work at a cost of $150. As a repeat customer (we've had two home improvement jobs totaling close to $7,000), we felt that some consideration should be made in only charging for one hour's work rather than the minimum of two hours. We have also directly contacted the company about the excessive charge.
Description of Work: Wingler Construction was called to repair a patio door that the company had installed in 2004. The door was now sticking along the bottom. When scheduling the visit, we knew that the minimum charge would be for 2 hours work. Since we did not know of the complexity of the repair, we agreed to the price.

Response from Wingler Construction & Remodeling
Upon the completion of the repair it was our understanding that you were completely satisfied. Our base time and material rate is with a minimum of two hours, which applies to everyone. The two hours you were charged not only included material, labor but drive time as well. Yes the repair was minimal, however, your home totals (with no traffic) over an hour in drive time. Regardless, we have taken into consideration your frustrations and as a courtesy and in appreciation for you business refunded the $75.00.Thank You for choosing Wingler & Sons Construction.

Work started five weeks after signing contract, ordering materials. All work was to be done over 1-2 days. Bath tub, plumbing work took two days starting March 31. Installer was professional and did a good job. He was unable to install the exhaust fan and said they would schedule an electrician at a later date. Three and a half weeks later, the electrician, a subcontractor, arrived to install exhaust fan. He did not have the electrical parts he needed or the roof vent, so he went to Home Depot to get the parts. This work was done over two additional days. The roof vent did not look very good. I was told they could not paint the white vent to match other brown roof vents. The electrician called some days later and said he realized he installed the wrong vent type. He returned and installed the correct vent on the roof. I called the company and asked to have the old GFI/wall plug replaced to match new and to add a towel bar in the bath tub. That work was done June 2. Overall, I am very satisfied with the results and the materials are very good quality, but I had to have the inconvenience of workers at my house three times over two months for 4+ days.
Description of Work: Install bathtub liner, new shower head, hand shower, faucet, drain, grab bar, towel bar, shower curtain tension rod, ceiling exhaust fan, GFI/electrical outlet.

Glenn, the salesman, was first class. There was no pressure to buy anything, he just came out and did his measurements and showed us our product options. The windows and sliding door are GREAT !! The 2 men who installed them were top notch. They were very professional and completed the job in a timely fashion. They left no mess and were very courteous and respectful of our house. I would definitely contact Wingler for future home improvements!!!

I asked them to check my roof for wind damage. They agreed they would do this and get back to me. They never got back to me, and I made 4 phone calls to find out what happened, and no response. I talked to someone named Randy on my 4th call. I was told by the office he was the one in charge of my job. He told me he would call later, never did. About a week later, I called the office and they said they would have him call me after his meeting. That was about 2 weeks ago. My original request was about 1 month ago or so.

Overall, the job went very well. I liked the salesperson; the window measuring person must have done a good job, because all the windows fit the openings. I changed my mind about window grids between the time of the estimate and ordering, and Wingler gave me credit for window grids that we didn't get after all. The installers were great (despite having to work around several people and pets on the days they were here, which were holidays for some family members). Also, I contacted Wingler a few times before the windows were installed and each time they promptly got back to me with the information I needed. I got two other bids for this work, one higher, one lower, and chose Wingler based on their reputation and the look of the Wincore replacement window. We are really happy with the work and the windows.
Description of Work: The salesman came to the house, measured the window openings, and showed me a sample of the kind of vinyl replacement window I was interested in. He also gave me the manufacturer's brochure (Wincore), and, of course, his estimate. Later on, a window specialist came by to double-check window measurements for the manufacturer. Because it was a busy season for Wingler, both representatives told me it would be at least four weeks before they could do the work. When the installers were free, the weather was too rainy to work, so we waited about a week for better weather. Well, it wasn't that much better, as it was so cold that the caulk gun was difficult to operate. Still, the installers came when they told us, were very easy to work with, and efficiently removed each window (12 in all, we have a small ranch-style house), then replaced each with the new ones. It took just two (difficult) working days to finish all 12 windows. We really like the windows, the energy efficiency, the appearance, and ease of use in operating and cleaning. It's too soon to tell how much our heating and cooling bills will be affected, but we already benefit from a quieter house because of the insulating windows. (The original windows, 1956, were aluminum).

They were recommended by a personal friend. They gave me a price that was reasonable. It took them only three days to do the work. We had a small issue of siding pulling apart. They came out right away and fixed it incorrectly. But they were more than happy to come back to make it right. They could have communicated with another contractor better. Stick to your original payment agreement and time schedule.

There was a lot of confusion due to other companies not providing detailed estimates. Wingler at first appeared to be much higher but only because they included a heavier replacement siding. When comparing apples to apples their price was in line. Their estimate form alone was well laid out detailing exactly what they planned on doing. They would be my first choice to do the work when some other issues have been resolved (not related to this company).

Not impressed. They could not give me a real quote to fix the siding, only an hourly rate or a rate for each piece they had to touch. All this without any definite count. They wanted me to tell them how many pieces they have to take down to fix my house. I thought they where the experts, I am not. Very disappointed. Also, never really gave me a total to replace the whole house with siding either.
Description of Work: I have some damaged siding from the windows installation from another company. I asked for how much to fix the damage and a separate quote on how much to replace all siding with Vinyl. I called they said they would come out, I called again he came out while I was not there and was supposed to leave quote that night, called several times left a message and nothing. I sent an email and he ran a quote over that was very cryptic and not at all what we discussed.

Very good, with just a small hiccup or two. I had some difficulty determining with the sales rep the best option for our new window, as did my wife when she called to ask a few questions. When we ultimately decided to just go into the showroom, things were a bit awkward and confusing with the salesman there, as well. Once we got this settled, it took a while to arrange a work date; not a big deal, as we'd been informed of the possibility, but potential customers might want to be aware of this. Once this too was settled, the man who came and performed the work did so in very good time, albeit with some crude language to himself along the way (perhaps because he was alone for what seemed like a 2-person job! :) We're very pleased with the end result and feel others will be as well, so long as you're ok with the kinds of small bumps in the road I've detailed.

Salesman Eric Wingler showed up promptly at the scheduled time. I had already done my homework on the available types of vinyl siding and we just had to work out the details of the job and price. Construction was started and finished within the allowed contract time frame. Once they started they were there every day to complete the job in a timely manner. There were three installation issues that did not seem right to me. One is that the mounting plates for outside porch lights are not solid, second, where siding is cut to allow for faucets, electrical, vents etc., it appears that there is a way for water to enter behind the siding. Also the replacement window appeared to be two narrow for the opening but the installer worked with it and got it to fit. I did not see any insulation put around the window prior to it being closed up with flashing. These issues have not been discussed with the contractor at the time of this posting. The shutters that were part of the contract are back ordered and have not been installed on the front windows. The installation crew was professional, courteous, hard working and cleaned up the work site at the end of each work day.
Description of Work: Replaced all aluminum siding on two story house and two car attached garage (22.5 square) with Tyvek house-wrap and Alcoa EPS Structure vinyl siding. Also replaced dining room window with new Wincore 7700 series double hung window 39 1/2 x 58 3/4 inches and 3 new gable vents. Trimmed all 9 windows and 2 entry doors with aluminum. Replaced shutters on 6 windows.

The siding replacement was done fairly quickly in 2003. The team that was on the job were mostly (or all) Asian. That surprised me since the sales person told me they did not sub out their work (like what he described with the hail storm chasing firms). The sales person and the person I followed-up with later assured me the team were Wingler and Sons' employees. After the work was completed, we had an issue the next spring. Water started leaking after moderate rainfalls into the ceiling on our first floor between our sunbay window and our kitchen. This did not happen once during the first 4 years we were in the house. I asked the roofing company and Wingler and Sons to come out to determine and fix the problem. What happened? You guessed it, both companies blamed the other one. Wingler's rep. said the gutters around the sunbay window would fill up and then overflow. There was not plywood completely installed under the shingles leading up to the gutter. The roofing company said the gutters would never be full since there are downspouts and the gutters run on all sides of the sunbay roof. The roofing company caulked the area where the siding met the house (even though it was "not their job" to do this). But this did not work. We still had water leaking into our kitchen. To resolve the dispute I had M/I Homes' rep. (the homebuilder) take a look. He felt the same thing, the gutters could not get full and cause the water to overflow back into the sunbay. He felt the leak was occurring at the area where the sunbay windows meets the kitchen as this is where there is evidence of the water leak in the kitchen's ceiling. I contacted Wingler and Sons with the results and asked them to come back out to try to fix the problem. They repeatedly have not returned my phone calls. Last year I even went to their showroom and left a message with the receptionist for someone to call me. They never called me. It has been almost 5 years since they installed the siding and every time there is a moderate rainfall, the ceiling in my kitchen leaks water. I do not feel the salesman who sold us our siding was very honest and sincere when he told me about Wingler and Sons' service. In fact I never heard or saw the salesman again.
Description of Work: We hired Wingler and Sons to replace our entire house's siding in 2003. Our house was only 4 years old when it was hit with a hail storm. One side of the house was damaged. Our insurance company offered to only pay to replace the 1 side that was damaged. We contacted 3 highly rated firms on Angie's List and got quotes. We decided to go with Wingler and Sons based upon their Angie's List ratings. The salesperson we spoke with suggested we get the entire siding replaced with heavier, thicker siding (and more expensive). Even though our insurance company was only paying part of the bill, we decided to pay for the entire house to be re-sided with the top of the line vinyl siding as recommended by the sales person. The sales person explained to us how Wingler and Sons has been around for a long time and the company's commitment to customer service. We decided to use Wingler & Sons. They said to beware of hail storm chasers and they did not do this. We had another company do the replacement of the roof shingles and this company was highly rated on Angie's List as well.

This person did return our calls after two, three, four or even five days, always leaving a message and his cell number, but we could never reach him when we called back, so we never even got to first base. After about four weeks of phone tag, I left a message that we were nearing a decision but would still be happy to discuss plans with him if he would like to make an appointment, but he did not call back after that. Because of the vagueness of the showroom person about whether they could do the work we wanted, and because we could never connect with the sales representative, we got the impression they were just uninterested/unable. Now I read reports that they DO do extensive remodeling, not just relining. They are members of NARI and a local company, both factors we were looking for. Because of this, I would consider them for a future need, in case it was a people problem rather than a company problem.
Description of Work: Visited the showroom in late winter and explained our desires for bath remodeling, involving much more than relining a tub, which was what the showroom person kept pointing us to. She finally said we should talk with a certain "sales representative", so we began trying to reach him the next day via cell number as instructed.
