Wingler Construction & Remodeling

This is our second experience with Wingler and Sons and they have once again met all of our expectations. They were able to meet our time frame which was to have entire project completed within about 60 days of when we first talked with them in order to meet our insurance company s policies regarding hail damage. They were up front with us about the delays they had, which were related to massive hornet nest and a wind storm. All of the materials were cleaned up and the crews that worked on our house were very polite. The office staff treated us with respect and always returned our calls in a reasonable amount of time.

We had to wait about a week for the estimate, due to the salesman's vacation. Compared to other estimates we had, the salesman didn't appear to know his product as well as the others. He was very friendly, however.

Overall, the process went fairly well. Originally got estimates during the fall/winter and chose to delay replacement until spring. The salesperson I dealt with was friendly and flexible; the only negative was his ability to quote prices on all the options for siding styles, there didn't seem to be a price list for easy reference. Once paperwork was signed, the work began several weeks later than promised. This didn't present problems, but was disappointed that I wasn't notified by the company of the delay, rather I had to contact them to see what was going on. Regarding the actual work, I was very impressed. Compared to other jobs in the area, they worked very quickly, cleaned up great and did a very good job. There was one minor problem area that was rectified immediate when I notified them.

I had just bought my house, and I noticed that when I opened my kitchen window, it slammed shut. I could see that something plastic in the left side of the window frame was broken. The previous owners had used Wingler and Sons Construction to replace the three windows in the front of the house. So, I called Wingler and Sons and told them the make and model of my windows, and the date that they had been installed. I asked if there would be a service fee, and if they could come out and look at my window. I was told that there would be no service fee, and they would come out and fix the window. The repairman came out and replaced the inner workings on the window. He also showed me a couple of things that I did not know about the windows. And, he told me that I could have the warranty transferred to me for a $50.00 fee (something the previous owners failed to mention).

Sent email and called office to set up an appointment. One week later, received email stating someone would be contacting me to set a time. About a week after that, a gentleman called and we set up a time. Day of appointment the office called because the salesman was sick, and that he would contact me to reschedule. We rescheduled for a couple of days after that, but he did not show and I never received a call.

A little longer than expected between signed order, and installation.

We called them several times and went to their office 3-4 times within the following 3 weeks, each time to find out that Jeff did not even make copies of our plans-let alone working on an estimate. The excuse was that he was very busy all along. Finally I went there to get back the plans and the girl at the reception desk called Jeff to ask him about the whereabouts of the plans. He told her that they were on the front desk, just like that, without any remarks or apologies. He probably had not even picked them up from the front desk to begin with.

IF HE WANTED TO MEET WITH BOTH OF US, I WOULD MAKE SURE ONE OF US TOOK TIME OFF FROM WORK TO MEET WITH THEM. THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HIM AND HE SAID TO CALL HIM BACK ONLY WHEN BOTH OF US WAS PREPARED TO SET AN APPOINTMENT. THE OTHER 3 HAD NO PROBLEM AND AFTER THEY PREPARED THE ESTIMATE (WHICH WE WILL CHOOSE FROM), WE WILL NOT HAVE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES. I THINK WINGLER SITE SHOULD REFLECT UNDER FREE ESTIMATES, WORDING SUCH AS ASK FOR DETAILS OR YES, IF ALL DECISION MAKERS ARE IN ATTENDANCE. I HAVE BEEN IN SALES ALL MY LIFE AND I THINK THE REASON THEY WANTED BOTH OF US THERE IS TO PUT SOME PRESSURE ON US TO BUY. ANYWAY, YOU ASKED FOR A REPORT AND I GAVE IT. GARY PARKS

Wingler Construction is an excellent company to work with. They are family owned and really care about the customers and the quality of their work at a very competitive price. We had them replace hail damage of roofing, siding, and windows and the new look of our house is fantastic. The crews were very professional and respected our house as if it was their own. Don Wingler worked with our insurance company to ensure the insurance claim was adjusted to the real world work that was required to bring our house back to it s original beauty and integrity. Overall, the personal attention to detail makes Wingler a company we will use for future projects.

The gentleman that headed it up, Lynn, was excellent, and Roger, the man that did most of the construction was great, professional, neat and tidy. Did everything to spec.

Our home was damaged by the hail storm, and they were the only company that gave us a fair and honest assessment of our property. All the other companies were trying to gouge us by saying we needed things replaced when we didn't. Glenn came in and actually climbed on the roof of our home to see what the damage was. They were honest in telling us what we needed and what we didn't. We are very confident in our choice of using them, and we will use only them in the future. Wonderful company!!

I called to request an estimate on fixing a door. I was told someone would call within 24 hours. There was no call so I called again. I was told someone would call in 4 hours. No one ever called.

They were excellent and had good workmanship. I would recommend them.

They were very nice and they came and gave me my estimate in a short time.

Communication, quality of workmanship, and follow-up were unacceptable. It began when a crew showed up unannounced 10 days prior to when they were to begin work and unloaded ladders and scaffolding. After we called the office, they realized that they were not to start until August 1. We did not hear from them again until almost one week after they were to begin when they finally began working on our project. Once they started, the actual work, while slow, went pretty much as scheduled. In spite of John Moore's assurances that he was having "his best crew" install the siding, we have already had two instances of siding coming loose. After several phone calls, they finally fixed the siding the first time. Second time I sent an e-mail reporting the problem. They did not bother to call, but sent a crew out to repair the siding. The original siding was installed in part with incorrect caulking. They have replaced some of it, however other has been removed and not yet replaced.

We were very well pleased with their work. I would recommend them definitely.

The crew that came out was excellent. They worked through some cold weather, cleaned up daily, and even did a few extra "cosmetic" repairs that weren't in the contract. We are very pleased with the work that was done.

A very nice lady answered and said someone would call back. We waited all day, no one called. Just before 5, we called again, we were told that someone would call the next day (Saturday). We were home all day Saturday, and no one called nor left any messages. I am assuming that they did not want our business.

Very professional. Cleaned up every single night. Never left a mess. Some of the cabinets did not come out exactly how I wanted, but there was no hassle and they took them down and re-ordered different ones. They were always very nice and easy to work with; from the girl at the desk, from the designers, to the workers. I appreciated them even more because I called another company and had two guys come out and design what he wanted to do for my kitchen, and he told me that I shouldn't put in the type of kitchen I wanted and that I couldn't afford it. Wringler and Sons was the complete opposite of this.

He drove to the city of Baltimore which is quite a ways from my mothers house that he was going to. He then called for directions, he could have easy gotten then if he would have asked for directions before leaving. Once he reached the house I went over everything with him and he wrote it down and said he would get back with me for an estimate and I have not heard from him since.

Even though there were a couple of mis-steps, it was a fairly painless experience. Andy and Mike were great to work with, and my yard was cleaned up every night.

I was very pleased with his work. He called and set up an appointment, was prompt, friendly, and reasonable. He gave me some options and let me decide. He did an excellent job.

While I rated them F overall, their estimator was prompt, professional and pleasant during our limited contact. Jeff Zahler came out to discuss the project and was very helpful in pointing out things we hadn't thought about concerning the job. We agreed on what needed to be done and he indicated an estimate would take up to a week. Later he came back to do detailed measurements. It's been over a month and no estimate was ever received. Repeated messages left with their phone rep have been unanswered. If they decided they didn't want to perform the work, a call to that effect would have been appreciated. We were quite disappointed and so, unfortunately, we can't recommend this company.

The gentleman who returned my call for an estimate did so in the 24 hours that was promised, but that is the only positive thing I have to say about this company. I was told that gas is expensive at $3/gallon, and that he would prefer to not come out and waste his time if I wasn't serious about the remodeling (why would I be calling for an estimate if I wasn't planning on having work done?). He also said he didn't want to come out unless my husband was home and the way it was phrased implied that I couldn't make a decision on an estimate with possible costs attached without my husband's okay. He asked what my budget was too, which I replied I hadn't considered one yet and he asked if it was $100. Very insulting. If this company only wants large projects, then they should state that in the beginning instead of allowing it's reps to behave in this manner. Terrible experience.
