They do basic landscaping and they do stonework also. We don't have much here. They do pavers for people, patios. We don't have them do a whole lot. The workers are good but I know them. They were good. It was a little over a half a day about four hours. They always ask me if there is extra things I want. They always clean up after themselves.

Stoneleaf was excellent in every respect. Before contracting the job, we contacted Stoneleaf and another landscaper, both of whom had been mentioned to us by a local stone supplier. Each firm provided an excellent plan -- they were nearly identical, given our very specific need. We looked at the work each had done on other homes -- all of which looked very, very good. But three things set Stoneleaf apart. Pat (a) took the trouble to give us an itemized estimate, (b) took the trouble to bring us sample materials, and (c) priced the job at 10 percent less then his competitor. The job itself was done when Pat promised. It was done efficiently, and the result is beautiful. This is a class outfit.

As always, it went exceedingly well.
Five men came and work to clear out debris, prune, and mulch all areas around my house.
They also replaced two shrubs that had not survived the winter.
They were here five or six hours is my recollection.
They hauled the debris away.
I felt like my property looked like a million bucks when they left!
All the workers have been professional, knowledgeable and hardworking.
They answer questions and are good listeners.
A++ and kudos all around.

They have done a great job. To start, we met with them and told them what we were looking for. They completed drawing, explaining to us the layout and the type of plants they would install. We gave them some feedback, and we have used their plans. We did not do all the landscaping at once, but we have done some each year. They have always been very responsive, and we are very happy with their work.

When Tim initially came out to look at my yard and provide an estimate, he took the time to explain what the rebuilding would entail to keep the wall from shifting and leaning over time. He also spent quite a bit of time taking measurements of the yard. He came back a week or two later with a detailed drawing of the stonework as well as a list of the various plants and their locations throughout the yard. Tim also provided a list of nearby homes that Stoneleaf had landscaped so I could get an idea of their work before selecting a landscaper. I decided to go with Stoneleaf but, due to cost, opted to forego any planting for now and just stick with the proposed stonework and basic landscaping. After a couple of scheduling delays*, Tim's crew was able to get started. Josh, Pat, Chris and Seth were courteous, punctual, and professional. They used as much of my existing stone as feasible, bringing in additional stone to supplement. Watching the process of mixing and matching and fitting, and seeing the walls take shape, was impressive. Knowing I can be somewhat detail-oriented, I hesitated to interject on a couple of occasions, but the guys were very receptive to my comments and suggestions, making sure the finished product would be what I, the customer, wanted. They also made sure to clean up the work area every day before they left. The finished stonework and lawn look great. I'm extremely pleased with it and have received so many compliments from the neighbors. The Stoneleaf crew is truly skilled and takes pride in their work, and I would highly recommend Stoneleaf to others.
*my only criticism is that, when there's going to be a delay(s) in the estimated start date, the customer should be made aware of that.

It's a family operation. They are very easy to work with. They are reasonably priced for the quality of the service you get, which is topnotch. They are punctual and they clean up after themselves everyday.

Phone call or e-mail request results in home visit to view the situation and talk to homeowner to clarify any questions.
All this is done almost immediately.
Outline or drawing/rendering of landscape work/design (plantings and or paver work) is presented, again in timely manner.
Cost presented is itemized.
Once contact is signed, date for start of work indicated, and is, in my experience, on target.
Owner notified of work to start usually day in advance, but if they find can start earlier, may just be several hours.
Workers arrive on time and with tools and equipment, plantings, pavers, etc. needed.
There are usually two-three people.
At end of day work area is cleaned up ----no messes are left.
If trees or shrubs have been planted, or other owner maintenance is require it is clearly explained to the owners level of understanding.
Bill is sent.

They were polite and very nice. They came a little early. They poked around and didn't get as much done as I wanted them to. The guy that was there hadn't been with them long. The girl knew what she was doing, though.

I had a very complicated design, and they were able to execute it perfectly. They woked all day for several days during the heat wave. They worked hard, were neat, and were very nice.

In 2010 we chose Stoneleaf over another company mainly because the second company disregarded our desire for a low stone wall in their plan for our front yard. Also, Tim's plan for the front yard was spectacular and he listened to what we were thinking about and accommodated our desires into his plan. Stoneleaf was about 2x more expensive than the other company, but that is because Tim was using a lot of stone and pavers which is where the bulk of the cost is. He came up with a plan to recycle some of our antique bricks in with the new pavers and we loved that. The guys worked on the front yard for about 4 days and the transformation was stunning. The clean-up was excellent. When phase 1 was completed, Tim came by to talk with us about the care of the plants and in addition gave us literature about each plant. The guys also regraded our small weed-filled back yard and seeded it. This entire project was finished in early November 2010, so we were concerned that all the perennials would make it through the winter because of their late planting start. In the spring, the plants started to bloom as expected and all was well. Throughout this spring and summer, the plants Tim chose (some we requested) continued to do their job which was to have continuously blooming color from April to November. Every plant thrived.

I have had many people stop their cars in front of my Victorian Village house to tell me how beautiful the landscaping is, not to mention people who encounter me out front pruning and tending to the plants and stop to tell me the same.

Because we were so satisfied with the first job, we had Tim come back the summer (2011) to hardscape and landscape about 30 feet of walkway along the side of our house that leads to the deck. This smaller job was done in about 2 days and looks fantastic. Tim also recycled some of the old bricks and used them as a border with the new pavers just like he did in the front of the house. We love what he designed.

To top it all off, a week ago a vandal stole one of the top stones from our wall in the front of the house. I emailed Tim, and he replaced it a few days later. Tim has been wonderful when responding to our questions and concerns about the work he and his company have done for us. We are completely satisfied and would use them again.

Overall it was great until several months later when we had major drainage issues. Since the initial completion, they tried one or two ideas on maintaining the excessive water we get in the back year.

The way the new landscape was designed, the flower beds completely surround the grass area and are much higher than they were previously. Take that plus the grass area has a low point directly in the center. So, during big rains, the low point (which is by the paver patio) is a pool of water. Takes several hours after the rain stops to dissipate.

All summer, every summer since the work was completed, the grass area stays muddy. We've hardly used the area since you can't really walk on the grass. There are lots of areas where moss has taken over.

I wish they had been more responsive about remedying the situation. My impression was they felt this was being caused by us since we have a sprinkler system out back. But we had done several tests by not running the system and never saw any improvement.

All-in-all, not what we expected from professional landscapers.

They were outstanding. The guy that I dealt with, Pat, was a really easy guy to work with. I like that they didn’t hire people from other countries, they hired family like nephews. I like that it is a family business. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Tim provided us a landscape design plan that was amazing- very detailed! He incorporated our goal for low maintainance but impressive yard with his own creative vision and expertise on what plantings would do best in what areas. He also was able to save and transplant as much as possible including moving a mulch bed. The team was professional, thorough, cleaned up after wards and did a great job. Tim personally came over after wards to provide care instructions. We ended up contracting him for two more jobs. We were EXTREMELY pleased with the work and results - a great value for the price!

I'm embarrassed that I haven't put in a review until now, but I've been unable to tear myself away from the back yard all summer!! This has been, without a doubt, the best experience we've ever had using a contractor of any kind. Pat Hill consulted with us regarding our space and how we use it, etc., and came back with two gorgeous drawings that incorporated everything we'd asked for...only better. The crew (Josh, Ron and Seth) worked through some excruciatingly hot days to make our dream a reality, and did it beautifully. They were eager to work and answer questions, and even made a few suggestions to save us money! The steps that Josh put in are gorgeous! We live on a golf course, and have had SO many people compliment the work. To be sitting outside and have some stranger yell,"That's a really nice patio" makes you feel like you put your money in the right place! It's because the patio was designed to perfectly flow with our house and existing landscaping, and to better accommodate a lake view. We have a small, rather unremarkable ranch that has been completely transformed because of their work. I can't recommend this company highly enough. Their work ethic and attention to detail, not to mention that they're just truly lovely people, made this a delightful project, instead of a home-improvement nightmare. I would happily work with them again, and have recommended them to several other people.

All the work has been timely and thorough. Tim has a great deal of expertise on plants and trees, and even made suggestions for the care of some trees I already had. He seemed really concerned that we'd be happy with our selections, and gave us a number of options to choose from. The men that installed the work were also very conscientious. I would hire them again without question, and in fact we are presently considering having additional work done and have asked Tim for a plan.

The work went extremely well. Stoneleaf had to coordinate their schedule with a deck-building company that was installing a new deck over the patio. Stoneleaf was very easy to work with, even when they had to wait on the deck builders. There were some small changes that they cheerfully made as the job progressed (even though it was probably our lack of clarity that was to blame). Pat Hill created a detailed drawing and plan for the whole job before quoting; he made several revisions of the plan, incorporating our suggestions. His plan was very good, and it altered our original thoughts about how we wanted it to look. We actually built the deck based on his ideas rather than those of the deck company. We were very satisfied with the end result and plan to hire them for more work this year.
