Shelter Guard

Overall, I am dissatisfied. I notified Shelterguard on 12/31/08(had to leave a voice mail message) that I am no longer doing business with them. I have secured a new security company who sold me and installed my system w/in the same week. I'm writing a report for them too (As). I called Shelterguard's customer service # (882-9931) today 12/31/08 and it is disconnected and their website is not available. The only way I could reach someone was to call the cell phone # for the President (Nick Kehagias) # 614-348-3800. I left that message at 8:30 AM and no one returned my call. There was no message that the company was unavailable for the New Year's Eve holiday so I assumed someone would call a customer back who leaves a message of dissatisfaction and decision to discontinue service. I've checked the Better Business Bureau's website and the company has a non-satisfactory listing. The report stated that others have complained about contract, service, billing and customer service and the BBB questioned in the Spring if the company was still in business. The report stated that Nick Kehagias contacted the BBB in November 2008 and verified that the company indeed was in business. The BBB has reopened their complaint investigations with Shelterguard, thus I provided them a complaint as well.

Shelterguard subcontracts to a monitoring company. Shelterguard bills the client. The client pays the bill to Shelterguard. Shelterguard is then supposed to pay the monitoring company, but doesn't. You only way the customer finds out is by accident, unless you test your system on a regular basis. Otherwise, the customer will not find out until they have a fire or someone breaks into their house.

THIS COMPANY WIRED OUR NEW HOME FOR A SOUND SYSTEM INCLUDING EACH BEDROOM, LIVING ROOM, GARAGE AND OUTSIDE. IN ADDITION, THEY WIRED OUR FAMILY ROOM FOR A HOME THEATER SYSTEM. THIS WAS DONE DURING CONSTRUCTION AND THEN THEY CAME OUT JUST AFTER CLOSING AND INSTALLED THE COMPONENTS TO ATTACH TO THE WIRING INCLUDING RECEIVERS, SPEAKERS, SUB-WOOFER AND VOLUME CONTROL UNITS. THE COMPANY WAS ALWAYS PROMPT AND ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS. WE LOVE OUR NEW SYSTEM AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY''S PROFESSIONALISM AND EXPERTISE IN THIS AREA TO ANYONE WANTING OR NEEDING A SOUND SYSTEM OR HOME THEATER. THEY ALSO INSTALLED OUR ADT SECURITY SYSTEM AT A LOWER COST THAN ANY OTHER COMPANIES WE CHECKED WITH WHICH THEY ALSO PRE-WIRED PRIOR TO DRYWALL INCLUDING ALL THE WINDOW CONTACTS. AJ HAS BEEN ESPECIALLY HELPFUL TO US, AS THIS WAS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH A SOUND SYSTEM AND HOME THEATER SYSTEM. WE TALKED TO AJ FIRST, TALKED TO 5-6 OTHER PLACES AND ENDED UP GOING WITH SHELTER GUARD IN THE END.
