HORRIBLE! HOME OWNER BEWARE! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! When I called to get an estimate I let them know I needed by Tuesday evening at the VERY latest. Scheduled 4 hour window that evening but no one showed, no one called to let me know running late, no one told me didn't have to wait there. Finally gave up and rescheduled for the next day after almost 5 hours of waiting and went home (30 min drive). Next day another 4 hour window given, it has now been almost 7 hours and no one has showed. No one calls me to give an update, I have had to call repeatedly and give my name, address, etc every single time and explain the situation multiple times. When asked for manager they put a request in (over 2 hours ago) to have a manger call me since none were working. Last guy I spoke with was so difficult to deal with I cancelled the request and I am looking for someone else to handle. I NEVER would recommend this company to anyone and will definitely be sharing my horrible experience. They are mismanaged, poor communication, and do not hold to their word. I left a lot out but you can see from this the kind of service I have received.

My problem with the company is not with the people who did most of the work. It's with the company itself. I called them to dispatch a plumber for an emergency water leak problem. They did respond in a reasonable period of time, but things went downhill from there. A plumber was dispatched, who discovered the source of the leak (a broken water tank in the 2nd floor bathroom toilet) and shut the water off. (good). The leak ruined the floor in the bath, the ceiling in the first floor laundry room the floor in the 1/2 bath and down to the basement. He called in his co-workers who gave me a "ballpark" estimate of $4000 to $5000 to mitigate the damage. (bad). In the meantime, the plumber decided to replace the toilet and returned an hour later with a new unit. My question is this: Why put a new toilet in when the floor underneath it had to be replaced? I'll admit, I wasn't thinking clearly then or I would have stopped him right then and there. He charged me over $1000 for his services that day. His co-workers showed up the next day and proceeded to dry the soaked floor up. The FIRST thing they did was to remove the new toilet in order to tear the flooring up underneath. Now, I don't have a problem with them or the work they did in order to prep my house for repairs. They were thorough, respectful, and efficient. They visited my house several times to check on their "dryers" (Machines that blow heated air to dry up soaked wood). A week or so after they finished, I got a bill from them for $13,000 in addition to the money I had already paid for the toilet. (Ugly). My homeowners insurance company FREAKED! More than a month later, they have yet to settle with Roto-Rooter and in the mean time, I have gotten two additional letters from Roto-Rooter asking for immediate payment. I have subsequently tried to contact Roto-Rooter on a number of occasions, but my telephone messages go unreturned. I agree that if I owe someone I will make restitution, but since this was turned over to the insurance company almost immediately, I feel that any communication at this point should be between them (Roto-Rooter) and the insurance company.

Once they came out, went very quickly and satisfactorily. My only issue is when someone advertises "27/7" and then tells you that you have to wait until regular business hours! I would have paid a premium to have it fixed when I called but I wasn't even offered the option.

The service was good. That was the stipulation, I use this guy, and his name is Clyde. I have used this service provider in the past but, this guy Clyde; I've always had him out. I always ask for him because he does a thorough job no matter how long it takes. He may cost too much but, he knows what he's doing. I only ask for Clyde. I don't know what the price should be, I guess, average; the normal range for something like that. This guy is pretty up front and honest. I say ask for Clyde; he makes the difference.

Not knowing who to call, I called Roto Rooter and they came out very quickly. After assessing the problem, including putting a camera down the drain, I was told the only real way to fix it was to dig a 9foot hole in my backyard, install an access point to flush out the lines. And This part would be $5200! I would still have to pay my deductible for insurance to cover the cleanup. They said the pipe was not cracked at this time "so that was good". I asked if the flushing could be done without installing an access point in the backyard. I was told not really because the drain is SO clogged it wouldn't be able to clear it well. I have a fenced yard for my dogs & a hole would be a major problem. Not to mention they would probably have to remove part of my fence to get a back hoe in the yard. The expense of that was never discussed. I felt pressured that this was really my Only option. I wanted to get another opinion & was made to feel I was risking a bigger issue or health problems if I waited. I asked friends for recommendations and chose ARS Rooter & Drain. What a wonderful experience that choice has been so far. Not only did they say the flushing could be done WITHOUT the excavating of my yard, they found my pipe was indeed cracked at the joint. They replaced the pipe, which included jack hammering a small area around the drain, flushed the entire drain & will be cleaning out my basement. All for $2300. I will also mention when ARS flushed the line they said once they got past the foundation, the pipe was basically clear.

We needed someone to install a dishwasher for us because my husband and I are not particularly handy. I had called around and knew that the going rate was around $150-300. I was trying to line up someone who could come on my day off, though, and the only company who had schedule availability that date was Roto-Rooter. They did not give an estimate over the phone per their policy, but I assumed it would be in line with the going rate. When Dave got here, he immediately informed us that he needed some additional parts, and then said "that'll be 560." I asked if he meant five hundred sixty, because I thought maybe he meant $5.60 additional cost for the part, and he sarcastically informed me that yes, it was $560 and he wouldn't be working for five dollars and sixty cents. I was quite shocked by the price and thought at first that maybe I heard him wrong. The new dishwasher itself only cost $400. He also tried to upsell me on a new faucet and when I told him that the cost was already very high, he made a sarcastic comment about the condition of my faucet. It is wobbly, but it is also functional, and I was really shocked to have a service professional making sarcastic commentary about the condition of my house. Dave then informed me he had to go out to get the new part. I assumed he meant that he was going out to his truck, but he left and then drove away. He didn't tell me he was going to leave the property nor did he tell me when to expect him to return. He was gone for about half an hour and came back with a couple of parts. When he returned, I had decided that $560 was too much to pay and told him that I was sorry but this rate was just too high and I no longer wanted him to perform the service. He told me that because he'd had to drive off to get parts and come back we still owed him $95 for his time. (Again, he did not tell me he had to leave and come back to get parts, I assumed they were in his truck.) I called my husband to ask how he thought I should proceed, and my husband asked to be put on the phone with Dave and asked him whether he thought $560 was a reasonable cost for a dishwasher installation, at which point Dave said "well, how many dishwashers do you install per week?" My husband pointed out that we knew many other companies who had rates that were half their cost and Dave shrugged and said it was the corporate "book rate." If there is a corporate "book rate" for services then why won't Roto Rooter tell their customers this rate over the phone? Maybe it's so that when you have already taken time off work and you have someone standing in your kitchen, you will just go ahead and agree to a cost that is more than twice the going rate, because at that point it will be awkward and inconvenient to tell them no and find someone else. I think this business practice is extremely shady and I didn't appreciate the attitude or behavior of the person who came to our house. Really, really recommend against using this company.

Excellent, absolutely excellent.  They were on time, they did a neat job, and they were cost effective, I was very pleased.  He made sure everything was tidied up, and absolutely a great job.  He did a very nice job and efficient, he came right out and was on time.  Definitely very professional and knowledgeable.  He was clean, efficient, on time, very knowledgeable about what the problem was, and how to get it resolved quickly.  He was in and out in a couple of hours.  We were very pleased with the service.  He had to make a run out to get a correct size part, which he did, and he returned shortly.  It was a very good experience.

It went pretty well, actually.  The sewer drain was stopped up, the one that leads out of the house, so we couldn't use the bathroom or anything.  They came out very quickly, they said exactly when they were gonna be here, and they were first thing.  The guy was very courteous and knowledgeable.  They were honest and up front about what it would cost.  They did everything and he was out of here in forty-five minutes or less.  They were very, very good.  I thought their cost was comparable for what they did and for how much time he spent here, and what have you.  The guy knew what he was doing and he didn't horse around or anything.  He knew exactly how to solve it, he had the equipment, and like I said, he was only here about forty-five minutes.  I had worked for a couple of hours trying to clear it, so I really appreciated it.  We've used a couple of other places before, and I was never happy with any of them. There are some places that actually stand behind their name and others are only interested in getting the money they can now and who cares if you ever call them again kind of thing.

My basement flooded so I called out Roto-Rooter to get the free estimate as advertised but the contractor would not go down to the pump without charging me. He said in order for him to look at the pump it would be $95.00 to walk over to the pump. You cannot see the pump from the stairs where he was standing. It was a misleading advertisement. They were not punctual. I was given a 4 hour window and they came after that.
