Our kitchen sink became clogged on a Friday evening around 6pm.  After several failed attempts on our own, we called Roto-Rooter. The call center representative was very courteous and set up an appointment for us that night.  We received a call about 20 minutes later and was told that a technical would be at our house in 30 minutes.  He showed up in about 20 minutes.  Eric (Tech #939) was extremely nice, gathered information about the problem, inspected the drain, and gave us an estimated cost for the work to get it unclogged.  It took him approximately 30 minutes to complete the work.  He gave us a 15% discount and even left the remaining bottle of drain cleaner he didn't use.

The salesman was good personable "slick willey", the folks that did the work didn't know what they were doing period or maybe they did and did it the quick and easy way.  I had a french drain replaced.  did not use the correct material i.e.. PVC pipe had no weep holes to collect water, no gravel , no silt cloth just 4 drains at the wrong pitch to work and in the wrong location to collect standing water. I paid more than enough to have the job done correctly. Now I have to re-landscape the the back yard to hopefully drain the water from my back yard. half way through the job one of the workers demanded more money to finish the job said the guy who specked the job was wrong. and believe it or not the sales man warned me that they would be chirpy his exact

Steve  Esber arrived on time and was very professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He took the time to double check his work and even cleaned some oxidation off our drain cap. We were very pleased and would use their services again.

Initially had a 9pm - 1am window but tech did not show up until 3am. Tech was very professional and explained all options we had since my finished basement contractors had drywalled in every single cleanout in the basement that we needed to get to in order to snake out the main sewer line. He ended up cutting out a piece of drywall to get to the cleanout which I will have to purchase a cover for. This should have been installed in the first place when the basement was finished. Long story short, tech fixed the issue and the sewer was no longer backing up into the HVAC room condensate drain. Just a little pricey for the work that was done.

I have to admit that I was reluctant to contact this service provider due to the negative comments and ratings on this site.  I was prompted by a previous customer who really liked them.
There was some miscommunication with my request between the dispatch reps and the provider who came out.  Although I told both the intake and confirmation reps that the issue was for the basement perimeter pipes, it got translated to downspouts. Therefore, the provider who arrived did not have the right equipment to help with my needs.  However, after explaining the situation to the provider he provided me with quotes for the correct person to come out to do the job.  He was also able to fully and clearly explain to me what the job might entail. He also went an extra step.  He discussed the situation with his supervisor after he left and came back to give me their recommendations which involved contacting another company.
I was impressed with the promptness of the appointment.  I was able to schedule someone to come out within 2 hours of my call and they actually arrived 30 minutes later.

3 visits: 1st was to check sump pump, we were expecting to replace, but Robert thought adjusting the float might be all we needed. He told us what we paid for the service call would be applied to a new pump, if needed. We appreciated that he tried a fix instead of automatically replacing the pump. 2nd was because the fix did not work and we needed a replacement. Kyle responded, but did not have a pump with him. He offered to come back the following day or go purchase one from lowes. We opted for the next day in order to get the pump sold br Roto rooter. 3rd visit was the actual installation

Two technicians promptly came to do camera and snake-work.  Neither were wearing work clothes, and one even had on running shoes.  The snake got jammed in a clog, so I agreed to upgrade to jetting.  A plumber came out with the jet truck and they took out the clog. This plumber was wearing appropriate clothing and boots.  Most of the sewage was cleared away from around the cleanout.
Though you might think it strange, I have been noting the clothing and footwear of the Roto-Rooter employees for a reason!  It turns out that plumbing can be messy business, especially when dealing with clogged sewer lines, and especially when using the jet.  The workers knew that there would be backflow; the plumber and I managed to stop any sewage from dirtying the house.  The two technicians outside, however, did not fare so well.  The first one dropped his company cell phone into the sewage that had accumulated near the cleanout, and the other technician managed to get one of his running shoes covered with the sewage as well.
After this was done, I was given a quote for a line repair that was beaten by a local company that specializes in outdoor plumbing repairs by around 10% of the total cost, and with much better terms.  I would not use Roto-Rooter for a similar issue in the future unless I needed emergency service, as that is their strong point.

The tech Chris was very nice. He went right to work changing the sump pump and checkvalve. They put our last one in and it lasted 10 years and we loved how well it worked ,we never had a problem with it. It was well worth the money , so we had them install the same kind again. Our basement is finished so we need to have a really good sump pump down their. Thank you RotoRooter.

They are the biggest company that will rip you off. They talked loud. They lied on the billing and over charged us for $1500. We argued with the bill, they had to come back out about the stuff they lied about. After that they charged us to suck out the water of the carpeting which weren't even wet. They said they wore hazardous suit but they wore jeans. We paid them and we did not have the money to buy a carpet for the basement.

They did a very good job and the costs were less than other quotes that we had received from other plumbing companies.
They fixed the problem quickly.  Even told us we needed water restoration for the water that had leaked into our carpeting and walls..  Roto Rooter had those services and they arrived quickly and took care of the problem.  We would recommend them to anyone.

When our four year old flushed a mini shampoo bottle down the toilet (unbeknownst to us), we inevitably ended up with a clogged toilet.  We called Roto-Rooter on a Sunday night at about 9:00 pm because they boasted 24/7 service and a free assessment, and were told we would receive a call back to let us know when one of their service members would be on their way.  Within five minutes, we received a call back stating that the  service member would be at our home within 30 minutes.  Sam arrived within 10 minutes after the call and was very professional and friendly.  He took information from us as to what the problem we were experiencing was and how long we had been having this issue.  He informed us of how much it would cost to unclog the toilet and also let us know what instances would require more money if the problem was more involved than he believed it would be (such as needing to remove the entire toilet).  Initially, it seemed like this would be a quick five-minute fix as Sam was able to quickly get much of the clog out.  Unfortunately, while using the auger to unclog the toilet, it managed to get stuck on the shampoo bottle that was wedged in there and try as he might, he was unable to remove it without taking the entire toilet off.  He eventually ended up having to cut his auger head off to remove it since it was jammed in there so badly, but after about 45 minutes he was able to finally get his auger and the stubborn shampoo bottle out.  Throughout the entire process, Sam was good humored and talked to our older son and my husband about what he was doing, joking with us about what we guessed the kids had flushed, and some of the strange items he had pulled out of toilets over the years of doing this kind of work.  He was pleasant, funny, and seemed very knowledgeable.  Once everything was said and done, he made sure to clean up the mess that had been created and wiped the entire toilet and area down well so that you could not even tell he had done work in there.  If we ever have issues again, which is very likely with three children four and under, we will definitely call Roto-Rooter again and ask for Sam personally.  Unlike some service people we've had in the house before, he was enjoyable to work with.  Despite breaking his tool, working past his clock-out time, having to run up and down our stairs about 20 times, and busting his tail for 45 minutes on an unforgiving mini shampoo bottle, he was amicable and professional the entire time.

Deceptive and dishonest.  Resulted in a payment of thousands more than the job should have been - payment was submitted only to avoid their threats of action.  And that was after they dragged their feet for weeks, assuring me they?d work with me on the adjustments but not doing anything until they were at a point that they could threaten action (based on contract timing).  I'm sure that they?ll state they negotiated but unfortunately their original number was so astronomically high that even after some adjustments it was still thousands more than it should have been.  This work was covered by insurance and they originally submitted the inflated invoice directly to the insurance company.  Two insurance adjusters agreed that their invoice was not in line with the job/work performed.  They did not pay the invoice so I had to attempt to resolve.
The Roto Rooter employee who came to my home the day of the backup refused to provide an estimate up front, saying it wasn?t possible to determine, even though their contract says they would provide an estimate.  Instead, he assured me it was all industry standard pricing.  By my forcing a discussion of order of magnitude, I was led to believe it would be in the $4-5K range.  (which also happens to be the range the insurance adjusters agreed would be reasonable)
I?ve talked with another company since and based on the job specs, list of services and pictures, they provided an estimate of $4,100 for the job.  Roto Rooter?s original invoice was over $11,000 and what I paid was $7,000.  So payment was almost $3,000 over a fair and reasonable amount.
I typically know better than to proceed without an estimate, but it was a very stressful situation and they were deceptive.  Lesson has definitely been learned.  Hope this helps others avoid the same situation.

John was friendly and easy to work with his tech number is 2041 and is really important like any business on who you get to do the work. I had a small amount of seepage coming into through the floor we diagnosed the blockage and decided to clear the downspout. Blockage gone and worries over paying over $10k to basement waterproofers is gone.

We thought one of the pipes or connectors needed repaired because the bottom of the kitchen cabinet was wet. We called for service first on May 23, and the plumber that looked at it couldn't find any leak at all, but he said the sprayer attachment of the faucet must have a worn-out part in it because it was seeping water. It was impossible to see inside it though and he wasn't sure that it would be causing the drip underneath (he suggested it might just be condensation from the adjacent dishwasher). He didn't charge us anything. It kept dripping though, so another plumber arrived on May 25, and also couldn't find any pipe leaks, and said the faucet/sprayer was the cause. He asked whether we wanted to get a new faucet and then call back to have it installed, or else he could go and get one. I didn't want to wait, so he left and bought an American Standard faucet and came back and installed it. It works very well and looks good and now this problem is solved. I appreciated someone being able to get here so quick to fix it on a holiday.

They did okay.  They did acceptable work but they had to come back a couple of times to fix an issue with the sink and the shower.  They did eventually git everything fixed but I was paying them service charges too.  I had originally had a different plumber in here and he put in new stuff on the toilet that kept on running, like a chain but it was too short and I kept on hearing the noise like water running and it was.  So Roto Rooter came and got that straightened out right away.  It took tires for Roto Rooter to fix the faucet but they got it working relatively well and it’s satisfactory.  He cleaned the shower and it was fixed.  They discovered what was dripping in the sink and fixed and they got a water restoration person in here to assess the situation.  Now I am waiting for the cabinet person to come back to replace all our cabinets because it was ruined.

Sean arrived promptly at 8am at the beginning of the 2 hour arrival window.  He was very nice and worked very quickly.  From arrival at the door to clean-up and departure, the service only took about 30 mins.  Compared to prices from other local plumbers, Roto-Rooter was much more expensive for a simple drain service; however, they were one of the only merchants who could come out to our home ASAP.

  • The service tech arrived even before I got to my house and was ready to go at 8AM sharp.  He was polite, explained things very clearly and appeared to know exactly what he was doing.  He answered my questions and explained each procedure.
  • When the restoration people came, they did the same as above.  They were professional, thorough and left my basement floor looking clean and sanitized.  All were efficient and courteous.
  • Finally when the field service provider came to inspect the line with a camera, I was able to view the entire line and saw where the break had occurred.
