RICHARD BUCHSIEB

We were in contract to buy a house with a very unusual flat roof that had major drainage problems. We loved the house, and wanted to have it redesigned to drain properly. Richard was great to work with; patient with our needs and many questions, came out several times to the country to evaluate our situation. He spent several hours going over the current design to assess the scope and effort. He gave us several options to work with needed subcontractors, and made special effort to estimate based on our love of the current design. In the end he made it clear that he thought once they began peeling layers off the roof, it could end up a huge job costing us well over $100k. He easily could have given us an estimate within our budget and then broken bad news once we burned through it. Andrew is an honest man, who reported the truth,knowing it would likely mean no business for him, and several wasted hours by him. In the end, we decided not to buy the house. But If we ever have the need in the future, we will contact Richard first.

I BEGAN WORKING WITH HIM IN APRIL. HE WAS VERY GOOD WITH RETURNING PHONE CALLS AND WAS QUITE PROFESSIONAL AT FIRST. HOWEVER, I MADE THE FINAL PAYMENT TWO MONTHS AGO, AND SINCE THEN, I HAVE NOT HAD ONE CALL RETURNED. HE HAS GIVEN ME NO FINAL DRAWINGS. THEREFORE, I CANNOT GET ANY CONTRACTORS TO BID ON IT. HE APPARENTLY HAS A REPUTATION THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF, BECAUSE ONE CONTRACTOR I TALKED TO SAID HE WOULD NOT WORK WITH BUCHSIEB. HE HAD COME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, BUT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE.
