There was an option for insulation thickness. It was not explained to me. It was corrected before work began. There was an option for moisture barrier plastic thickness. It was not explained to me. It was corrected before work began. Once these two issues were resolved, I was satisfied with the work and the price.

I would not recommend this company, but if you do engage them make sure you inspect ALL of their work. I hired them to put down a vapor barrier and spray foam insulation on the walls of two crawl space areas. They did not apply the foam insulation correctly, leaving big gaps of areas not sprayed with foam. The plastic did not completely cover the floor to the wall. In one large area, not visible from the crawl space entrance, they did not put down any plastic. There were other problems, such as damage to property, that I won’t go into. After I complained, they came back a week later and put down more plastic and applied more foam insulation. They had originally left the job saying it was complete. I guess that they figured an old man would not crawl back in the crawl space and inspect their work. It is obvious they did not understand the concept of a “vapor barrier”. After they came back the second time, I found a hole tore in the plastic that they had just put down. Totally not professional!
Response from Parkfield Insulation

"We regret the inconvenience caused to the homeowner because of delays in resolving the homeowner’s concerns. During the completion of the work, there was a miscommunication between the foam crew and the homeowner regarding foaming of the sill plate below the bandsills. This area was taken care of on a second trip to the house along with the issues involving the plastic covering the floors of both crawl spaces. Several return trips were made to correct the homeowner’s concerns and we received verbal confirmation of his satisfaction with the project completion. Parkfield Insulation strives to have all customers satisfied with the thoroughness and timeliness of our work. We deeply regret any inconvenience on behalf of the homeowner and the miscommunication that occurred."

Trucks broke down in driveway on two occasions, damaging driveway. Damaged wall finishes with the hose. Crew showed up without baffles and blew attics without them assuming I wouldn't notice. Then they put them in without clearing the airways so they were not doing anything. When they came back to fix it they pretended to fix but didn't. I had to do it myself, clearing the insulation from each stud space with a rake and restapling the baffles so air could flow. It seems impossible they could have had an A rating. They were so bad we are questioning the reliability of Angie's list. To be fair the foaming part of the job went much better, except that was when the second truck broke down in the driveway.
Response from Parkfield Insulation

"Parkfield Insulation Services appreciates the feedback and understands that we fell short of our high standard of service for this client. We have reached out to the client with our sincere apology and have worked to answer his various concerns to his satisfaction. Since that time, we have reached out to the client on numerous occasions to confirm that he has no further issues and have received no response."

I called Bill for an estimate to insulate a building. He was incredibly responsive and quoted the job on-site during my appointment. He explained the entire process in full and answered all of my questions. I was debating between foam insulation, but Bill sold me on the benefits of using cellulose insulation His crew who did the work was professional, considerate and friendly. The cleaned up well afterwards and I was fully pleased with the price and performance. I would definitely re-hire Parkfield again in the future.

It went extremely well. I was impressed by the professionalism of the crew. How well they cleaned up. They were done ahead of schedule and the finish price was exactly what was estimated. We had the room soundproofed also, due to the future planned use. It is amazing how well it works.

I decided not to do it at this time. Everything was fine except the price. That was the only estimate I got for it so I don't know if they were good, bad, or indifferent it was just more than I wanted to spend. I would have a quote again. I would probably get a could other quotes to see if it was competitive. They did not do anything to have me not have them back out.

Initial consultation was performed very promptly around my requested schedule. Actual work was done sooner than expected. Workers were professional and kept us informed of their progress. They cleaned up after themselves. Pleased with the outcome and the difference in the way the house holds heat/air. Basement no longer has drafts or outside bugs coming in.

Met with owner for quote and was impressed by knowledge and price.
Crew was late and then had to come back a 2nd time because they missed multiple spots and air was penetrating areas owner told me would be sealed.   They did not fuss and said they would be back out to re-spray.
Their truck kept breaking and had to reschedule multiple times.
They re-sprayed and fixed most of the problem spots but some still exist due to the fact that their equipment is not very flexible  and could not reach into tight spots.
I will have to buy the foam spray kits on-line to finish where they could not reach.  I chose to go with them instead of DIY foam kit because they were only $100 more.  Hindsight I will have to spend $300 more to finish the job so I would recommend using the spray foam kits if you are going to do your band boards.

We had an energy audit done. Parkfield added insulation in the attic, and in the family room attic which is an add-on. They also foamed all the headers in the basement. That is where the rafters meet the walls. They were prompt and cleaned up well. We were very satisfied with the service.

Everything went as planned. I was home during the work and they explained everything they needed to do while they worked in the home. They showed me an area of my home that had already been insulated and I was provided a credit for that room. It was deducted from my bill at the end of the job.

The salesperson was nice. The end result of the install was pretty disastrous. The surprises never end.

Insulation was added to the garage attic through a ceiling entry in the garage and through and through a closet in our babies room. Our theory on what went wrong is based on a probable leak in the injection hose... but it could also be bad installation technique or process. The two installers that showed up seemed to hate each other, which may not be a recipe for success, either.

Here is what we experienced as a result of their install:
  • The baby's room was filthy. We moved everything to the far end of the room (about 15 feet away from the closet and 20 feet away from the closet attic entry) placed plastic drop cloths on everything and yet every piece of furniture was covered in insulation. We spent 4 hours cleaning it.
  • We found insulation in our babies one furnace feed, behind the register. The whole feed was clogged. We found this most odd because it blows air so you would think that the generally positive pressure would have helped (maybe a recommendation would be to make sure your furnace or Air Conditioning is on the whole time you have insulation installed or make sure your registers are fully sealed within adjacent rooms).
  • We found a never-ending amount of insulation in our clean air intake in the baby's room. We just found this, today, during a duct cleaning. Lesson learned: seal your clean air intakes in the room(s) adjacent to the attic (and shouldn't the service provider know about this problem if it is normal?). This is, by far, the most severe problem and I don't know how it will be fixed. We have pictures of this to help explain the extreme nature of this problem. The picture only shows what I have gotten out so far, which is only about a foot down. The intake runs horizontally for about 12 feet. I have not yet found the end to the insulation.
  • Our garage was totally covered in insulation. We spent about 4 hours cleaning this up... it was easier to clean than the baby's room, but there was much more to clean. We have some pictures of this as well.
  • The insulation dams constructed around each entry were full of gaps, so when you opened an attic door after the additional insulation installation, insulation simply fell out. This caused more clean up work.
  • Newly added baffles that were designed to draw air from the external ridge vent were full of insulation. That seems counter productive.

They are a bigger company, but they have an office in Delaware. I like to use local people and support our businesses when I can and when they are good. They were good to work with. They happened to be accommodating to me because I wanted a Saturday appointment, rather than take a day off from work, and they didn't charge me more for that. They were very efficient and very polite. They were more respectful of my property. I thought they were really good. The one problem that I had was that they sealed my doors, and, of course they were older doors, after they left I realized my doors would not lock because they were tighter and it threw my lock off. That was kind of a problem, so I had to have someone come out and fix that so my doors would lock. They didn't tell me that, test it, or think to test it, I don't know, but that was the one and only problem that I had. I didn't realize this until I went to lock my doors at night, so that was a bit of a problem. I ended up putting a chair up against my lock and a neighbor came over and cut me a piece of wood, so that it was real sturdy until I could get someone out to fix it. So, it was a little bit of a concern for awhile. It was only on my back doors, my front doors were fine, but my front doors are a little newer and I think that was the issue. I guess they didn't think about that and it was something that I told them later that they really needed to do because it caused a problem for me. Hopefully, they won't do that again. This was an understandable problem because I didn't think about it either until they left and I went to go to bed that night, which by then it was too late and I had to get creative. Luckily, I'm not an alarmist and I wasn't afraid, but I was concerned. The back door was behind my garage door, so it would have taken considerable noise to get to that door, and my outer back door had the chair there, and that gave me enough comfort, so I thought I could make it through the night until I got them fixed, which I did. I think I would consider using them in the future.
