In an effort to ensure that we fully addressed the concerns outlined in the review you've provided, we looked to the fine print of our marketing materials. The disclaimers included therein contain verbiage that reads, "Furnace discount varies by equipment offered and does not include additional parts or accessories. The promotional offer also excludes the cost of installation labor." It is correct that in order to qualify for this particular promotion, the purchase of an air conditioning unit is required. Additionally, the discount provided to offset the cost of the furnace itself would vary depending upon the HVAC system that is ultimately selected for purchase. We apologize if our advertisements caused you any confusion, and hope that you'll find this clarification helpful. Though the Free Trane Furnace promo ended on March 15, 2021, we would be happy to provide a copy of our marketing materials to you for further review. We are so pleased that you were able to have such a positive experience with our Comfort Consultant during our recent visit to your home. "Hi [Member Name Removed] - Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on Angie’s List. While we understand your concerns, we would like to provide some further explanation for how we arrived at the diagnosis for your furnace. We’ve been able to pull up your job notes in order to best respond to your comments. It appears that our technician visited your home for a service call when your 16-year-old furnace was not working. During this visit, our technician found your furnace to be locked out on limit circuit lockout; in addition, your furnace was also presenting several fault codes, which led us to diagnose a limit switch as being faulty. The unit was only running 20 seconds at a time before cutting out again at high limit; it was tripping at 80 degrees, yet the switch is rated for 180 degrees. Because of this, our technician recommended the replacement of the limit switch. Additionally, it was also discovered that when the inducer motor kicked on, it was not starting at low speed as the unit is designed to do. Our technician determined that the inducer motor was only operating its highest speed at all times, so we recommended the replacement of the inducer motor. Finally, due to numerous codes being thrown on the furnace, it was determined that the circuit board was also faulty. In our expert opinion, in order to fully repair the furnace, all three components – circuit board, limit switch, and inducer motor – would all require replacement. Because of the age of your furnace and the repair cost, our technician provided furnace replacement as another option. The solutions we offered were intended for long-term benefits, but we are happy to learn that you were able to get your system back to operational at this time. We spoke with you after our visit, and we did issue you a partial refund on your service call in order to ease your concerns. While we do hope you understand the reasoning for our diagnosis, we certainly realize that it is your choice for whom you choose for HVAC services. We wish you the best with your home comfort!"

"Hello [Member Name Removed] - Thank you for sharing this feedback with us on Angie’s List. We were able to look further into your notes and speak with the technicians who assisted you during our most recent visit. Our job notes indicate that during the diagnosis, our technician did check the pressure switches, tubes, ports, flue, fresh air intake, drains and secondary heat exchanger. After checking those and not determining them to be the root of the issue, it was our opinion that the clog was occurring in the heat exchanger, which we would not be able to confirm unless the furnace was disassembled. A pressure switch error code could be the result of many different things, such as: an inducer motor not starting, a plugged flue, tube, or air intake, a broken wire, a clogged heat exchanger, etc.. Because it was our opinion that the clog was located in the heat exchanger, we did offer you a quote for replacement, as you cannot access the heat exchanger (centrally located in the furnace) without destroying it. We certainly understand your frustration. We strive to provide the best diagnosis to allow for the most effective solutions, but we can miss things. While we certainly wish that we were able to correctly locate and diagnose that clogged tube to the pressure sensor, we are glad to learn that your system is operable and blowing heat again. After learning about your experience, we do feel that in your situation that we did misdiagnose the issue, and for that we would like to speak with you about refunding your service call fee. We’ve left a message for you to reach out so that we can resolve this; please give our team a call so that we can help."
