I did not go well. He often missed weeks, would skip mowing part of the yard and tried mowing too fast skipping patches in the yard. Toward the end of the summer he his truck broke down, he just quit mowing altogether, failing to honor the year of service that I had prepaid for.

My experience with Floyd's Landscaping has been absolutely terrible. I will post pictures so that everyone can see how awful my lawn looks. I purchased a deal through Angie's List for $999. This was supposed to be a 12-month landscaping package that included 26 weeks of mowing, spring cleanup, fall cleanup, flower planting, edging, mulch installation, and weeding. My lawn should not be the worst looking in the neighborhood when I have paid so much. First, I will address the issue of the lawn mowing. The lawn was sometimes mowed on a weekly basis, but that was actually unusual. Most of the time the mowing was about 10 days apart. However, my lawn has not been mowed in over 5 weeks. I am totally embarrassed and expect the neighbors to begin complaining very soon. Second, no flowers were ever planted. Perhaps this is my fault since I didn't make the request. However, I was actually afraid to ask for this service because I was already so upset with the service I had received. I asked four times for an estimate about removing some bushes. I'm still waiting on that estimate. This made me realize that if I purchased flowers then I would end up planting them myself. Third, the a weed eater was only used about half of the time. Fourth, I never saw any weeding performed. We ended up hiring another company for this service. Fifth, the initial spring cleanup was pretty darn good. I was actually very pleased with this service until my husband pointed out that an entire area of the back yard was missed. Sixth, the estimate I received for mulch was just as expensive or more expensive than estimates I received from mulch companies. Since my package was supposed to include free installation of mulch, I was shocked that the prices were comparable to other companies that were charging for labor. Seventh, I quickly became tired of all of the excuses. Equipment was ALWAYS broken or a truck was ALWAYS not functioning. I don't care whether Dustin has to rent equipment and a truck, the point is that I paid for a service and expect it to be performed. If the service is not performed, then I expect a refund. My lawn has looked rather bad this entire summer, but it is a huge embarrassment right now because mowing has not been done in over five weeks. My grass is at least 8 inches tall. I have received nowhere close to the 26 weeks of mowing that I paid for and was supposed to receive. I have actually dreaded posting this review because I have seen how Dustin responds to other negative reviews. As you can read, he sometimes gets rather nasty with his customers, and I certainly don't need to be attacked for my honest review.

This has been trouble since the start. Many excuses as to why things could not be done in timely manner. I have had to badger at times to get jobs done that were part of the deal. He would show up promptly when I had jobs outside the deal that were done on a cash basis. Now for the past month he has not shown up to mow at all saying his truck is broken. No effort on his part has been made to find another way of getting this done. I am still owed mowing and leaf service but have little confidence this will be done. This was supposed to be for all of 2017

A very frustrating experience and I became tired of the constant excuses, sporadic communication, and his tendency to blame his customers.
Description of Work: When I read the deal for Floyd's Landscaping on Angie's List I had decided it was just what I have wanted. It included 28 Mows weeding, edging of the bed, two clean up both at Spring and fall, and two plantings of annual flowers, and mulching. I never asked for the mulching or planting of flowers. Dustin while polite when talking to in person and always apologetic, however has a lot to learn. He is a young man and this is his first business and he is the sole laborer in this business. His communication skills are lacking and I have told them this on multiple occasions. He once told me that he thought it was better if his clients reached out to him instead because he would often get too busy or forget to reach out to his clients. Well this is an unacceptable way to run a business, I should not have to wonder why my yard hasn’t been completed and have to followup. These delays would often cause an issue as I would prepare my yard the day before or the morning of to come home and not have my yard serviced. I would often have to wait 1-3 days before reaching out from lack of communication. I would tell him about his lack of communication then he'd be good for 1 or 2 weeks and then it would slack off again. He had a myriad of excuses/reasons as to why he couldn’t come out and often it was about placing blame on his other customers. I would always state as long as you communicate I will be understanding. However he has exceeded my high threshold for tolerance and understanding. While I understand that owning a business and being the sole labor is difficult, however, this is the line of work he chose to do. With that said the initial spring cleanup was done extremely well as with the first grass cutting. However after that his service left a lot to be desired and the lack of punctuality and follow through was terrible. He would often say I hope you like the work I'm doing and I would just smile and go inside as to not rock the boat as we still had an entire season of Lawns cutting to go. He also never weeded my garden except for once when I had to ask for it. I asked him again to weed my garden, and mind you I did the entire back part of my garden bed myself. When I confronted him why he hadn't been doing this throughout the season he stated it I never asked for it, and I told him that at the professional per his Angie's List steel description it stated that weeding would be done as needed not per customer request. So as a professional I expect him to determine when my bed needs weeded. Really what I paid for was a very expensive lawn mowing service when it was supposed to be a landscape maintenance service as well. As I sit writing this review I am on my third consecutive week of no lawn services, not including One Missed week in early September where I told him that he could for go mowing my lawn that day to instead weed which he stated he would do the weeding the following week so he never showed up that day. Needless to say the weeding did not get done the following week due to a family emergency and has yet to be completed. I have just reached out to him and he had the audacity to tell me my 28 mows have been completed. I fortunately have most communication saved either via text, Angie’s message portal, and email to show that that technically this week would have been week 23 from when he started (not to mention the missed 4 lawn services). I think when Dustin realized that Angie's List sold too many Angie's deals he should have immediately contacted them to have them refund the last set of deals. It is clear that he could not handle the customer load that he received through this deal. He is quick to blame Angie's List and his customers. I would definitely pay attention to the negative reviews and his responses to them, you will notice a common theme. As you can see from the pictures no edging, no weeding, and my last grass cut was on Sept 13th (notice the height difference from neighbor), he started cutting my grass on April 25th. Again, he has missed 3 consecutive weeks and has stated he is done with grass cutting for the season.

Floyd did about 16 mowings (he will say more). Many times I had to go over his mowing and trimming and touch up the spots he missed. ( He blamed that on my yard being uneven). Twice he forgot to bring the correct mower so he borrowed my mower. He wanted $90 for mulch. I spent $20 on 10 bags of mulch and did it myself. To trim the lower branches on 2 small trees in front yard would cost another $220. I did that myself in about 30 minutes. He hasn't been here since early September because his truck broke down and he is trying to get it fixed. Last contact with Floyd was earlier this week. Truck is still broken. He doesn't plan on doing anymore work on my lawn this year.... no more cutting, no leaf clean up, etc. Overall, I'm very unhappy with Mr. Floyd and I'm out $999. Also he never did do any pruning or edging. Poor way to run a business.

Clean up and edging of flower beds with soil was done quickly and timely. However, the mulching was delayed about 6 weeks. After some communication, found he was very busy and still planning to get mulch of flower beds done. When he finally got the mulch put in, it looked great and he did the front and back yard flower beds. Only expected the flower beds in the back to get mulch. Very nice surprise and no extra cost.
Description of Work: Yard clean up from fall in the spring. Also, flower beds to be edged since grass growing into flower beds in the back. Edging done and mulch and some new soil.

He completed the initial clean up. He has also come out every week to mow. He put mulch down around memorial day and I paid him separate for that. He did a good job on that and I thought the price was reasonable. He mowed the lawn on Wednesday and was supposed to plant the flowers. The deal says that he would plant flowers 2 times a year. I put the plants in the spots that I wanted them. He only planted 5 and then said he had spent all him time that he had allotted for planting flowers when he did the mulch. He told me that the flowers should have been done on the initial clean up but that was in March. He didn't bring any tools to plant the flowers. He said that he was going to have to charge me an additional $45.00 for planting the flowers. He accused me of not reading the contract. I told him to leave the plants and I gathered them up and watered them so they won't die. Some stuff he does very well but he does like to argue. When he cut the grass it was so short it looked like it had been scalped. When I confronted him about it, he told me that he was an expert and he knew how to do his job.

Not good, not getting cut regularly.
Description of Work: I want a refund for the balance of the contract. We paid $999.00 for a lawn service contract, and I have to call to get the grass cut. Right now the yard is full of weeds. The trees and shrubs are not being trimmed. I know they equipment problems, but I still need my yard cared for!

I have always done good on your property, you wanted me to come bi weekly to stretch your 1 month mowing and I told you that I cannot do that, (it was 4 consecutive visits and 1 day delayed due to my equipment being in the shop, along with my edger being in the shop, I told you no on the hi weekly visits contract states consecutive you did not like that, I have not returned phone calls due to me being on the mower and being booked out also I did not call back at the end of the day due to it being past business hours.

I wish I could give a good review however Dustin needs to work on his organizational skills. Asked for mulching and edging and after 2 months of last minute cancellations and only one showing for half of the time he was paid for, I have had to seek the services of another company to finish the job. He is professional when he does show up and he responds quickly to email but fails to follow through. I would not recommend purchasing a Big Deal from him and be prepared that work will most likely not be completed in a timely fashion.

Dear [Member Name Removed] I'm following up to your review accordingly the reasons why it was two months is due to other people being scheduled and before you there were other people on my books that I had to take care of accordingly in order before I could get to you I came out to your property and I did the edging due to the timing that we had I want to let you know the reasons why we did not do the mulch even though we said that we would is because after I sat down and I did the calculations my company would have not made anything for mulching your property we will be giving away mulch for free technically I had guys that I would have to pay for me tomorrow to property and we will be going in the negative if we were to mulch your property I apologize about that it's not the fact that we are disorganized it's the fact that there are other people that were in line before you that had to get taken care of also for mulch it's very rare that we have been rated two F's and One D out of all the other reviews that we have ever had for our company overall we are a good company do to people's budgets and finances on their projects is what is really hurting our company because that there are certain things that people are only able to afford so much which only allows me to do so much for their property once I leave a person's property even though they have purchased eight hours there are other people after that day that I have to take care of and I have to reschedule another person back in that I was already on the property for I apologize about all the inconveniences that you have discovered and I myself have discovered but if there's anything that we can do to make this review a little better please let me know.

We scheduled you for Sunday the 7th previously, in our minds at that time of us been on the job site we assumed that we were going to have you in for that day due to some things taking longer than expected we had to move you forward to the following Monday which you and messaging told us that was fine. I explain to you a few things about the work that was to be done I also explain to your daughter that even though you purchased eight hours of work all that you inquired was your front flower bed to be done which was the front side of your house I have walked the property there was nothing else to do when the work was completed we were to leave, if there was more you fell to tell us that is not on our part. I also want to inquire about your grading on the pricing which we inquired for you to get your front flower beds treated for weeds so that way they do not return we fully sculpted your flower beds of the weeds and remove them and hold them away as stated in Angie's List agreement that we charge $60 for Haul away fee, which was the grand total of $160 after treating your yard for $100 on the flower bed. What's in those previous things as I stated were completely okay on your part. Also I would like to address the responsiveness in my emails as stated in the document at time of sending and receiving emails from you and me we're completely immediate and responsiveness so I don't understand why the response of this was rated in F. Now the grating on the punctuality I kind of understand on why that is an f and I completely agree with you because I use voice to text when I email people I'm so busy I just don't have time to individually type out each email so I just tried to sum it up which is easier for me since I do with so many people. And for the last part the professionality great it however you want that's however you perceive the on my part I feel that I was professional in the manner and I did take good care of your beds for you but other than that at least 75% of this rating and review is completely inaccurate...

This young man and his young company would rather fight and bash customers than listen to another small business owner and how to improve his company. This is a long story, but our initial clean up did not happen as fast as we thought, but it was March after all, I was not to concerned and the initial clean up our lawn was mowed. A month later, was when our lawn was mowed for a second time, not the advertised weekly visits. From there on, it has been a rocky relationship with Dustin, the owner, it is never his fault, always an unsympathetic customer is to blame. My typical mowing day is Thursday. If it rains on Thursday, I don't get mowed on the weekend, when most other companies use weekends to catch up, he will just come the following Thursday, so at times, my yards could go 14 days without a mow, I told him on several occasions that was not acceptable and not what was states in the maintenance package. He replied, I got screwed by Angie's list, they oversold my packages and have provided no support. You can read his thoughts on Angie's list in some of his replies. On several (2 or 3) occasions I have had to hire or borrow a lawn mower to mow my own yard, between his rain delays. He says that he will not mow in the rain, my neighboor, while I was not home one night, goy into an argument with Dustin, about mowing in the rain, lets just say, Dustin was not professional in his replies to my neighbor. Dustin states that he does not mow on the weekends, he only works Mon thru Friday. So why did he mow my lawn last Saturday, 7/8/17, after rain forced him to miss the mow on 7/6/17? So on 7/13, when the rain prevented a mow again, I followed up with him via text on Sunday, about mowing and this is the conversation with him: Me: Mowing in Westerville today? Dustin: I will be resuming this upcoming Thursday for mowing my truck is in the shop today getting maintenanced tie rod ends I do not work on the weekends I work Monday through Friday if any inflammation of weather has happened on a schedule day for a customer I resume the following week I cannot mow in the rain while it is storming Me: Sorry Dustin, 12-13 days between mowing is not acceptable, we talked about this earlier this year. And you mowed last weekend. Dustin: I'm sorry Mr Wells but your last servicing was last week it's not been 12 to 14 days Me: By this Thur it will be and if it rains again this Thur I would need to wait another week? Dustin: Scott it's unacceptable for me to mow in the rain we've been through this before it's a liability and I'm not doing it you're going to get mode this upcoming Thursday and I can't put you first in front of other people that come before you I got to do everybody in order Me: You have mowed in the rain, got yelled at by my neighbor. So you have mowed in the rain! You mowed last weekend, but you just said you don't work on the weekends. How am I supposed to know how you run your business? Flat out, I need to talk to you today or I will fire you tomorrow Dustin: I stopped doing that I quit that it's too much of a headache and fire me I don't care wells I told you flat out I work Monday through Friday's 7 am till 8 pm If you can't be understanding then that's fine fire me do what you have to do it's not worth the headache of arguing with you all the time you're the only customer 1 out of 100 that I have a problem with Me: Yes have you seen you Angie's list reviews? I am not the 1 out 100. Dustin: Yeah when you can't satisfy everybody I'm done I'm tired of people trying to scare me those people won't get filter out and that's fine I'm done going back and forth if you I told you I will see you this Thursday if you can accept that fine to find another lawn guy, an Angie's List is messed up anyways they use their refunds to scare the subcontractors we're tired of it Like I said I will see you tursday, if you willingly terminate my company fine, but I am not cutting grass in the rain no more that's unprofessional, I don't work weekends I work Monday through Friday as scheduled I work around inclemented weather. I'm not arguing no more with you. I don't just jump when people want me too. Me: My yard will be mowed before Thursday, probably today, not by you, but my son. Your services are no longer needed or wanted. Dustin: OK I have spoke with Dustin many times, I have tried to be supportive and understand his situation, I understand equipment and trucks can break and or need maintenance, but he has no plan for back up, if equipment breaks or a rain make up schedule, if you are missed on your mow date, he just comes the following week, which is clearly outside of the package. When Dustin provided services, he does a great job, but Dustin is overwhelmed with a startup business and his family situation only adds to the stress of being a small business owner. If you talk to him on the phone, he is defensive and argumentative, if you can calm him down, sometimes you can carry on a good conversation, but he would rather point the finger, rather than accept fault or find an acceptable fix. By the way, he also clearly blames Angies's list for a lot of his problems as well. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Description of Work: Provider has provided the initial lawn clean-up after a delay, vendor has mowed on several occasions, but not every week, due to maybe rain, or equipment being in the shop. Vendor did not prune shrubs as advised during or prior to mulching, vendor has not on all visits removed debris and litter from plant beds and lawn area and bed weed removal as needed. Vendor has not and will not be allowed to provided the 4 hours of fall lawn clean up, vendor has not provided and will not be allowed to provide labor cost to planting of annual flowers 2 time per year, vendor has not yet provided and will not be allowed to provide leaf removal during the fall.

After mowing, there are always spots of grass that were not cut and trimmed areas that were missed. I have to go over the lawn with my trimmer and touch things up. Also grass clippings were left on driveway, carport and back step. Trimming and pruning of shrubs has not been done. On two occasions, Mr. Floyd has used my lawnmower to cut the backyard because his mower was in the shop. Overall, we're not happy with this service. We paid $999 for 12 months of lawn care and so far we haven't gotten what we paid for.

mr [Member Name Removed] i apologize about the inconveniences, but you have not brought these things to my attention "in person" nor have you ever mentioned it to me what so ever, everytime that I come to your property I do fully trim your property on all parameters and I make sure that they are trimmed, and for the mowing your yard is very uneven and has divots my commercial mower is not going to always reach all places throughout your yard which won't give its appearance I recommend you get your yard flattened with a roller. I every time you talk to me in person it is always a positive conversation I just don't understand the review in your expression in the rating, my goal is to make you happy and I have made that known. I've explained to you my reasons on why I had to do what I had to do to get your yard cut and you told me that you had understood that. I believe that this review is highly uncalled for I finally got my 36-inch mower working I've stressed you that I am a small family-run company. In that my top go was customer satisfactory I have made it obvious to you each time I visit that if there is an issue please let me know and you have not done any of the above as you have mentioned in this review. And for your yard having grass clippings I have bigger mowers that chop up the grass and a different pattern versus a residential 21 inch push mower which gives a different appearance in different results in your lawn you are 21 inch residential push mower is able to get all the small stuff as for my mowers are made for bigger properties if that makes sense again this response is with all due respect but for now on it is your goal to point things out that make you decide as fight ask for the grass clippings in your carport I have a Stihl BR 600 Backpack Blower that fully blows off your driveway and your sidewalk some grass as it gets Blown Away will tend to build up in areas not visible to the eyes so please if you have any more issues please bring it to my attention have a nice day.

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $199 on 3/17/17 with Floyd's Landscaping for Spring cleanup and mulch spreading. The owner established contact with me early on, promising to schedule my yard as soon as possible. Sadly, to date, the owner has admitted he's overwhelmed. He has failed to get me on his schedule after promising multiple times. I realize now he's unable to do the work.

The communication was not very good. I wanted to have other work done, and wanted to be available when the work was performed, but was very hard to get a hold of to communicate that. The yard looked the same to me, so not sure what they cleaned up. I guess you get what you pay for.

I communicated with you accordingly as soon as we got notification about your purchase, we have email documentation you never requested any other work to be done that day that we had arrived, I'm at the homeowner I personally walked in had a conversation about what was needed to be done and to my understanding was the weeding of the flower beds we did in fact fully weed out all the flower beds, as for the scheduling there was no set conversation on schedule by the only times that we were only able to get to it by where the times we notified you, I believe the home owner was satisfied do to us checking with her before we left everything did look really good we have two other accounts that witnessed the same we apologize if you feel that what you wanted to have done was not done it was not specified by you and your behalf to our understandings from the homeowner was just the weeding of the flower beds which is what we did do, as for scheduling on my end I'm only able to book out accordingly each customer that comes in the door it's hard for me to be there at the time that you want to be there for the work to be performed as a small business owner things have to go in our Direction due to us having to book people out accordingly and we have to follow that road map if you feel this way we do apologize but we are only doing the best that we can and in my honest opinion I think we did a really good job on that property.

Very quick to respond, and gave same day estimate as the job. The original price quoted was higher than I was willing to pay, so he worked with me instead of declining the job. He spent a lot of his time making sure the job was done, and there were a lot of leaves that needed to be removed. There was more bare spots than what I remember, but that also could have been from the leaves and the warmer weather, so not really a complaint.

Work has been great, he is highly communicative and checks in to make sure it is going as expected. He is responsive and willing to make sure that his customers are happy.

Dustin did a great job. He came out to my home a couple of times. He trimmed all of my bushes, removed deadhead plants, cleaned the beds and trimmed a bunch of branches of of pine trees. He did a great job and I will use him in the future.
