Our remodeling project has been a long drawn out process..... Our contractor does not work well with females. His ideas and his way or the highway he will tell you; I even kept his recording stating this. He shows up late if he shows, drinks on the job, takes his estimates scheduling and goes to them while he is to be working on your project, and on the phone a lot. He argues with his clients or especially me (a female). He will not listen to his customers. He complains about how many nail holes you have on your outside walls like it's you who caused them. He whines, complains, and argues way to much. When he does show up for a whole day; he can really work well and get things accomplished. If he does not drink in his vehicle or gets a beer out of his work bucket. When he is sober and feels like working he does an excellent job. I have spoken to him about this issue, I think we have resolved this one. He just needs to change his attitude. He rants and raves out of site, I caught him stomping around and throwing his fists around; I guess so he wouldn't punch me out when he was mad at me. I would say he does great work, customer service very poor, self-centered, finds ways to get a dime out of you. If you don't like someone who is very slow in getting the work done, not dependable, constant worry about a dispute with him, and drinks beer on the job...hire him. Plus, treats his clients like s***. Now, he brags like I am the only customer that hadn't been happy but I really wonder. He does work for individuals who own rentals too and uses that excuse to now showing up to work on your job. He will not even call ahead and tell you that he is doing that. He thinks he's the boss and will tell you. He has gotten nasty with me several times. He's been a friend, I thought he was more accountable than this. I hired him because of my husband wanted him to do the job. Otherwise, I would've got more quotes and references for other remodeling contractors. If you are not patient like myself and don't mind someone to work on painting the whole 4 bedroom house except one bedroom, fixing nail holes, complete remodel of a master bathroom and a hall bath that isn't even done yet from 9/7/2012 until and still ongoing. Not even done with my master bath yet. He did good a good job on the nail holes and tiling our master looks great. He keeps telling me, he isn't charging me enough. You don't raise prices while working for someone. He is meeting his quote for each job. Now, since we only have a few things left for him to finish,. Like our hall bath's cabinet, in which we have had since September or October 2013. He finally opened it (Tuesday, March 5th, 2013),the very last minute before installing to discover it was warped. In which he had months to inspect it, now blaming me that he can't finish due to this warped cabinet. He said, "I didn't want to takethe cabinet out, fearing I would scratch it or loose some of the 46 parts." A lousy excuse, he got mad at me the client and blamed me. If only he had inspected it two to three weeks before needing it; I could have reordered a new one and replaced the warped one. Instead, he yelled at me and blamed me. What an idiot! He called our house cursed. He really causes all of his own problems with his attitude, disposition with myself (his client). He likes to be the boss and tells his client (me) that he knows it all about remodeling since he has done remodeling for 20 years. His efficiency and pre-planning sucks, however, he will tell you that you are inefficient. Again placing blame on the wrong person. He does not take suggestions, ideas, or criticism very well at all, he will argue with you. He is insane, but an excellent craftsman. An arrogant person. I would not recommend him to anyone for his bad habits, personality, and attitude. Especially blaming others for his errors or mistakes. He acts really childish for a professional. I wanted to be honest and truthful, because if I had researched his name or company of previous jobs I would not have hired him for my work. He said he is a perfectionist and does an excellent job. However, I find little mistakes all the time. Name withheld for still working on finishing our remodeling. He will know who it is. Update 03/12/13: Above, overall the experience of remodeling has been a disaster due to his attitude, behavior, customer satisfaction, disagreements with the home owner (client). Don't hire him if you are a perfectionist and want to much out of him. He will constantly give excuses and blame you for his mistakes. It's been six months so far, and he didn't do it right because he won't listen to anyone. I feel like my nerves are shoot due to him. Like I stated in the other posting he drinks sometimes on the job, too many breaks, takes off to give other possible clients quotes, and does things for others without telling you he has something to do on another job. He constantly does no shows, shows up late, and disagrees with his clients.
Description of Work: Work Experience and Quality: Dave's never on time. Sometimes doesn't show. Leaves early to give other quotes and take calls for more work. Price Fair Quality Very Good to Excellent (Except if he gets upset with you and starts drinking on the job.) Project T Update 03/12/13: To Add to my previous post: Update, Dave Burt of Complete Home Services has really messed up his job we just found out of last week. The issue is that we wanted shower bars installed in our newly remodeled bathrooms because my husband had cancer a few years ago. He and I both need shower bars for safety because we fall frequently. He stated, "he can't use his stud finder because of the backer board and the tiles he had installed the stud finder does not go through it." That he would use a toggle bolt instead. A toggle bolt will not work per my brother in-law, We called my brother in-law in Indiana (3 hours away) about this situation. He also stated, "that the shower bars can't go in because if the shower bars needs studs. The tiles and backer board will come off if they are not in the studs if a person grabs them while they are falling with their weight will pull the shower bar out with the wall. There is another example why be careful hiring a contractor doing bathroom tile work. You need someone who had done a lot of them. He wouldn't admit that he was inexperienced at this, he kept reassuring us that he had 20 years experience. We have spent over $9,000 between the tiles, labor, painting, supplies and materials for him. I believe now the whole house except for the 1/2 bath downstairs and the kitchen we have spent over $25,000.00 Now, since he messed up and it needs redone and I have informed him. He wants to pack his bags and leave my unfinished job and mess he created on the walls. Really the walls look great, but if they have to be torn down and redone per the ADA requirements I don't know what they will look like if he redoes them. The right thing for Dave to do is to redo it with all costs out of his pocket and no more costs on us because of his error. I don't know if he will correct his mistake or not. I will probably have to hire an attorney to get this situation corrected. Which costs even more money. My husband told me earlier today he was mad at me, and packed everything up without finishing.
