It's an absolutely shady deal from the start. What additional work is there? The deal I purchased included all parts and labor for an outdoor faucet replacement. I understand if there were a charge for an 'upgraded' faucet that I chose to purchase, but additional labor for it? The plumber was there a grand total of 30 minutes... Ten of which was spent in the truck. So 20 minutes of labor to change an outdoor faucet will cost you $217 from this company, not the $89 deal that included parts & labor. The man who performed the work was very nice & performed his job well, I don't have any issue with him or his work. My issue is with the company, if it's not possible to install the faucet you advertise due to code then why advertise it?
** Update ** I went to my mothers house this weekend (June 16) & looked at the faucet. I turned the hose on & saw that the new faucet will gush water out its handle until the pressure is relieved by turning the water on at the other end of the hose at the nozzle. The faucet can't hold any pressure. I've never seen this happen before.
Update #2. In an effort to work this issue out I went though the Angie's List Big Deal complaint office. I received ONE call from the Angie's List rep (Shawna White) and I called her back not once, or twice but five times over the past month. I have not received any return call. I leave messages every time I call. This is crazy, what good is the dispute resolution that Angie's List offers if they don't follow up with calls?????
Update #3. It's September & my issue has not been resolved.
The worker was professional, courtesy and a likable guy... the problem is a job that was suppose to be $89.00 listed as an Angie List "Big Deal" ended up being $313.20 for two replacement parts to repair the existing faucet ....when a brand new faucet, labor and all was only $89.... Figure that one out!
Around 11:30 I agained called the contact number and the receptionist stated that the technician was about to pull up to my house. At 12:15, I called back and spoke to another person who was in the office "stopping by".. He said that the board shows the technician has been at my house for over 20 minutes. News to me since I was in my yard. Just then the technician walked up the drive and intorduced himself as Allen.
This is where this event gets interesting. I told Allen I purchased the exterior faucet replacement for $89.00. Allen then said "well the ad was wrong." Allen said that his company from out west placed the ad with Angies list and it is a sillcock replacement for $89.00 not a faucet but his company would not recommend a sillcock for this area of the US since it could have a freeze problem in the winter. Allen then stated that the company was recommending a faucet for an additional $61.00, 1/2 off thier price. I told Allen that sounded like a 'bait and switch " scam and that is illegal in most states including Ohio!
Allen stated the the PICTURE in the ad is for a sillcock not a faucet. I countered by the ad said hose faucet replacement. I called the contact number, spoke to the receptionist and asked for the contact person, Jason Norris. The receptionist stated Jason Norris could not take my call at this time. I then asked for Mr Norris cell number which I was told was not for distribution. I handed the phone off tho Allen who walked away from me with my phone. while talking to the receptionist. Allen returned, handed me back my phone then his phone rang, its was Jason Norris.
Allen let me speak to Mr Norris who told me the same tale as Allen did about it was Angies List's fault for this mix up but his company would galdly put on the frost free faucet for the additonal charge. I relented and agreed to the $61.00 charge. Allen went right to work after writing up a new invoice for me.
The techncian,Allen, seemed to get the job done OK. After the work was completed Allen said he had to install a shut off near the faucet since he didn't want to sweat pipe near the exterior of house possibly causing a fire. He asked for the coupon which I had to print down stairs where my computer was located. Allen stated he didn't know my house had a basement he thought it was a slab house and if he knew that he could have ran a single pipe instead of putting a shutoff valve on, adding another solder joint and possible leak point. I asked him why he didn't asked and Allen countered why didn't I tell him.
I paid the extra cost and Allen went on his way with a handshake and sorry for the misunderstanding. When Allen left , I went to check out the faucet and observed rusty, copper handprints all over the siding where Allen worked at and then saw that one of the screws to hold the faucet had a stripped head(another potential problem down the line) and sticking out about a 1/8 inch, not flushed with the mounting.
So in a nutshell this was not a good expierence at all. EIther the company misled with the ad or the ad was placed in the wrong section of the United States, whichever I would not recommend this company
They were actually very good about scheduling and calling when they were running late. The worker was very corteus and a likeable guy.... just have to wonder what happened to their "$89" deal.
