Gave an estimate and informed me that it would take about a month for the window to come in from the Anderson factory.  Scheduled a time that would work both for me, them and the weather.  Once they protected the room from dirt, they started the work.  They were very pleasant and hard working.  Window looks great.  Should have done this sooner!  Would use them again.

Our first issue started with the rough opening measurements Mr. Ollie gave to our general contractor to use. Mr. Ollie submitted the measurements for one of the windows written in feet and inches rather than in total inches which is the generally accepted format for windows according to the carpenter. So we ended up with a rough opening for a 24” window that was 21 5/8” because Mr. Ollie had hand written 2’ 5/8” on the spec sheet. Our contractor had to spend over an hour re doing the rough opening once the error was discovered.

Then, the products were 2 weeks late in arriving from the factory, and when they arrived in mid-June the window for our bathroom that was supposed to be 1/3 clear on top and 2/3 cascade pattern on the bottom came in all clear glass and the wrong size for the opening. Mr. Ollie blamed the factory for the error and substituted a window he had on hand that was a similar configuration and ordered new glass for the bottom. Based on the first issue we highly doubt that the error was in manufacturing.

We paid Richwood Additions, Inc. $5,012.57 for the single 24” window and sliding door as well as labor, but withheld $838.08 which was the cost of the bathroom window until the replacement glass was received and the work was deemed satisfactory. We notified Richwood Additions, Inc. of this in a letter dated 6/13/2014.

We finally got the corrected glass on July 3, 2014 which Mr. Ollie installed. We have now discovered yet another problem with the work done by Richwood Additions. When our contractor installed the window and door casing he found that the sliding door was installed tilted out 1” farther at the top than the bottom in the frame causing the wood work casing not to line up inside. And to top it off the bathroom window is also bowed out into the inside about 5/8” at the point where the clear glass meets the obscured glass and one of the handles to the locking mechanism is missing. And Mr. Ollie never came back to install the screens for the sliding glass door.
At this point we have no intention of paying Mr. Ollie the remaining $838.08 because of the extremely poor workmanship on the window and door installation. We are extremely disappointed in our experience with Andersen new construction / Richwood Additions, which is unfortunate because the whole reason we chose the Andersen product is because we have Renewal by Andersen windows and doors in the rest of our house and were very happy with the service and product we received from them. We initially wanted to use Renewal by Andersen for this project but were told that we had to go with new construction windows which were provided by Richwood Additions, Inc. as the local representative.

The estimate we got from Richwood Additions Inc was very high mainly because it was Anderson windows. The owner called with he prices but we haven't done anything more with them. The gentleman was very nice but he was extremely chatty to the point that he made himself comfortable at the kitchen table and he just kept talking and talking. Other than that, it was fine.We had to call him a week and half later to get the estimate and he called us a week after that to give us the quote.

They did a FABULOUS job and my neighbors are already asking for job quotes. The work was impeccable, they were a delight to have in the house, and they cleaned up every evening after working. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They need to be listed in the Angie's List publication mailed out to members. I wouldn't have known about them if it hadn't been for my friend who also used them in her house.

Mr. Ollie and three others (members of his family) came to the house to do the work. They were very careful and very precise in their installation. They took care of a lot of little details when installing trim around the doors, window, and threshold. We were very happy with the work they did.

Richard Ollie was wonderful to work with! Just a good man who did good work. His crew was always on time, did a great job, cleaned up and finished when promised. I recently ran into him at the Home and Garden Show, where Richwood additons had a booth. I had not seen him in 17 years, but he remembered me and the size and configuration of every window he instlled in our house. Great personality and great to work with!

Their price was less than a company that does window inserts. They actually do full frame Anderson windows. It was cheaper than other quotes. They took care of everything. They made very solid recommendations about the size and height when they came to do the measurements. They took care of staining the wood and the interior trim. They did that offsite in a workshop that they have. Everything was ready to go when they came to our house and they did a great job of matching our existing woodwork. They took care of all the cleanup. The scheduling was easy. The quality of the job was excellent. We are in the process of having them come back out to do a couple of doors including a patio door, and another 4 windows. We were really, really happy with them. The only challenge was in the initial time of getting everything set up. There was a little bit of delay in getting everything signed. It is a family business so the same folks doing the installations are getting it set up and taking the messages. They communicated well. There was a little bit of time lag, but nothing that really was significant. It was maybe a 90 out of 100 on a quality scale. I have recommended them to 3 or 4 of my coworkers and one has actually had all her windows done. They were recommended by a couple of our neighbors. They actually order the windows directly from Anderson so they don't go through a distributor. They order a truckload so the windows are all from the same batch and year. They have not been sitting in somebody's warehouse for a year so there is no chance of a different coloration or component. We were completely happy with them. They were really nice people and easy to work with.

I checked with four of five different companies and I thought Richwood would do the best job. He came out to talk to me and went over everything that they would do. The same guy that does the work is the one that came out to talk to me about the project. They did everything from painting to repairing a post; the other companies would not do that so Richwood’s was more of the complete package. I think everything was great. The work was done well, the people were friendly and knowledgeable, they were very careful, and it looked perfect once they were finished. The only down side was the follow up; they were a little slow to respond but the work they did was very good.

This is the second time that I have used this company having been referred to Richard by a neighbor shortly after we moved into a fixer upper. We contacted Richard some time ago to have him install this door in conjunction with an ongoing 3 season room project. On this visit we had an existing window replaced and installed a new patio door. Richard had to replace the header that was in place for the window with the proper size to support the new door. Richard took the time to explain every detail and had to work around the previous owners shortcuts with wiring but took it all in stride. Great team to work with and I just wish they did 3 season rooms and kitchens. Richard is my first choice when thinking about replacing any window or door. I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future.
