I called the company for an estimate and one was emailed to me within a week. I called up for insurance and workmens compensation copies and they were also emailed to me.

A week and half later they called to tell me they would be out on Monday August 25 the to perform the service. The two man crew arrived at 9:30 AM. The sweeped the driveway and then they filled all the cracks. They waited about 15 minutes for crack filler to fill in completely and then they proceeded to seal coat the driveway. They took there time and did a through job and were very neat. They did not run the sealer on any of the grass or sidewalk. They cleaned up and put down cones so no one could drive over the driveway. The employees were very polite and considerate and I was very pleased with the entire process.

I would definitely use them again and I will also recommend them to any one who is looking for asphalt repair or replacement.

The team showed up within time frame they provided. They were courteous and very hard workers. As soon as the equipment was unloaded they got right to work and took care of the job. I was concerned that the repair job would look patchy, but they assured me they would address it and they did. Once we seal coated it was hard to tell where the repair was made. Great job.

They did a nice job. I was really pleased with them. They saved me some money.  The lady who came out and gave me the estimate was nice. They pointed out if they did a whole resurfacing that it would have to meet city requirements so; they did the front that needed work and some at that back. They resealed the whole driveway for me. I thought they did a great job.

Response from Holland Paving

"During the free estimate of the work, the owner stated that his driveway was under a written violation. We always want to be sure to satisfy the client and their needs. Our estimating staff met with the building inspector to verify that all work proposed would satisfy the violation on the driveway. There was no additional charge to the property owner for this service. The owner was very pleased with the extra steps taken and contracted for the drive to be serviced by Holland Paving. Constant contact was provided to the inspector and the property owner to ensure that all needs were being met. . Our records indicate that work was performed on 8/5/13 for the asphalt patches and that the crack fill and sealcoat was performed 8/16/13, at which time we notified the Building Department of the completions. The balance of the job was paid 9/5/13. We received a call after our season ended with a concern that the work had not been completed and we expressed our concern to not only look into the matter but to also make any corrections that may have been needed. We left several messages at the phone number on file, sent out 2 emails and mailed a letter to the PO Box on file in hopes of relaying the information that we had documented. We also contacted the city to verify that the violations had been satisfied and to be sure that his court obligations for the driveway were released from the court. A visual inspection was performed by our staff on 3/5/14 to also verify the work had been completed. We have still not been able to contact the property owner. We pride ourselves in going above and beyond the required services of contracting work for all our clients and maintaining an outstanding reputation with the building inspectors we work with."

Holland Paving was outstanding. My driveway was a mess and they took out the old one and put on a new one. It was a concrete driveway. They took it all out and put in the new. My approximate cost was less than normal because my son was working for them at the time so I got the mom's discount. It was outstanding. They cleaned up all the messes and everything absolutely. The crew was about four or five. There were the people who took out the old stuff and then once the concrete was poured, then you have the finishers, different people. It is wonderful, I mean why should be so surprised when somebody does a good job. These people did an outstanding job. My concrete did not crack. I mean, it's a long drive, it takes the front block, they brought it up to front steps, I mean there was a lot there. The quality of work was excellent. My situation was unique, because I was getting a mom's discount, once the gravel was all put down, then I kind of had to wait because there was a weather issue. Then they went on to the people who were paying full price before, I mean I had a lot so there was this gravel for a while, about two weeks instead of a few days. Hopefully I wouldn't need to use this company as a driveway is till death does us apart.

Working with Holland Paving, and in particular, with June, went VERY well.  June was extremely helpful from the very start. Among other things, she came out to meet with the city inspector and myself to go over different possibilities for the job. With her help, we were able to avoid replacing the driveway, and do resurfacing instead.
The day of the job went very well also. We had some issues with significant tree roots. They were able to handle this appropriately to maximize the chance of trees surviving. The new asphalt driveway is now level and looks great!
Overall, both communication and work itself were excellent. I would recommend them without reservation.

I would highly recommend their asphalt work.
Asphalt job looks nice and appears to be doing well. The concrete apron during the preparation stage (before pouring the concrete) looked very nice and was well over the specified contract terms. When the apron was completed however, they shortened it a lot more than what they prepared for. I spoke with the owner about this and he said that they had met the contract criteria. When I measured it myself, it was actually a whole half foot shorter than contract. And the apron has a distinct bow (instead of being straight) because of the shorter length. Lacks a high quality/professional look.
One of my brand new concrete sidewalk blocks has a crack all the way across it! and it is less than 3 months old!

Update- Holland has agreed to complete the concrete job to meet original contract specifications. Asphalt driveway is in excellent shape and holding up very well especially after extremely tough past winter. Concrete was watered after completion multiple times daily for over 2 weeks, so cracking was not due to insufficient watering/maintenance.
Response from Holland Paving

"We at Holland Paving value all our clients’ feedback in a continuing effort to advance our skills in the asphalt and concrete industry. From contract to completion, we make every effort to accommodate every aspect of each project. In learning of this review, which came months after the completion, we did an onsite inspection of the project. Our inspection revealed an apron that is 40 sq. ft. larger then originally contracted and is at an 8 inch depth which is thicker than the original contract states. The reason we thickened the area was to prevent breakage when installing the asphalt driveway. This was done at no additional charge to the customer. We also noted that because of the narrow and busy street this apron is on, the apron needed to flair on an angle to give the best access to the driver entering the property. The crack in the walk was likely caused by the shrinkage of concrete curing during the hot weather. This is why we recommend that concrete be sprayed down with water during hot weather to slow the curing process, thus minimizing cracks from shrinkage. The finish on the concrete was consistent with a standard broom finish and we saw no flaws in the finish. All work that was performed was permitted, inspected, and approved by the local building department."

Got bids from three of Angie's top sealcoaters. They were slightly more than the other two, but I had confidence that they'd provide a superior job, which they did.
David, the estimator, was willing to use email for our contact, and gladly reduced the bid as I scaled back the work. The drive was in fairly poor condition, about 30 years old. At first, his bid was for extensive patching; then offered an alternative when I balked at that, which was for much less patching. Then I decided to go with only sealcoating because it's likely that the protection/preservation will still be good w/o the patching. Then, we'll have it re-surfaced in a few years rather than investing in patching now.
Maris in the office was easy to work with for the scheduling of the estimate and the job. Took quite a few days to get the estimate, but once awarded, the job was completed in about a week, which surprised me for end-of-season busy-ness.
Derek, the foreman, arrived with two others on time. They seemed to be very conscientious, actually moving much slower than I expected. Job looked great.

We have always used Holland Paving for our asphalt jobs at our previous smaller location.  When it was time to do this large job we did not hesitate using Holland Paving again.  Tom was very responsive to our needs, answered all of our questions.  The job was done when promised and completed as we had discussed.  Tom called every morning to review project- what would be done that day.  There was a VERY small cut that was not done well and when he saw it agreed with us and corrected it.  All of his employees were courteous on the job. Very well done job- THANKS.

Everything went exactly as it was planned.  The work was started and completed on time. The communication about how to care for the driveway was clear and helpful and the supporting printed instructions were well done and received in advance of the completed job.  The sales representative visited twice before the job started and stopped by after the work was completed to check on things and to see if I had any concerns.  this was a first class operation from start to finish.  the owner of the company called me a few days after the job was completed to see if I was satisfied and told me to call him if I had any concerns in the future.  There were no surprises and no disappointments.

I wrote the check on May 21st 2013. The job was scheduled to be done on June 31st and then rescheduled due to a conflict for July 3rd. On July 3rd it was then rescheduled for July 8th, due to the asphalt plant being shut down for mechanical problems.
The job was completed as promised on July 8th.

Response from Holland Paving

"Holland Paving prides itself in making every customer satisfied with our work. This year the Greater Cleveland area had record rainfall, June was the fifth wettest month in 250 years and rained 16 days straight, this made construction difficult to schedule. Unfortunately July 3, 2013 the manufacture had a mechanical shut down which we had no control. [removed member name] contacted us with concerns about the width of the apron after the work completed on July, 8 2013. On July 11, 2013 our representative responded at the site. It was determined that the apron was the proper size and as a courtesy we returned July 12 with new topsoil and grass seed to back fill the area at our own expense. Its a shame [removed member name] did not mention this in his report. The apron turned out beautiful and hopefully our work speaks volumes."

Their estimation process was fine, however it did take them over a week to provide the estimate, and when it was provided they weren't able to commit to being able to do the work before the season ended.
We ended up finding another provider.
Response from Holland Paving

"This year we had a wet fall. I would recommend to anyone thinking of sealcoating your drive, to get the estimate in srping or summer and to seal no later than October. This way the leaves and colder weather are less likly to affect the product. We have 3 crews sealcoating this year and hope to put on the 4th next year, we hope that everything works out for this customer and possibly call us again in 2 to 3 years when it might be necessary to seal again."
