I received a phone call to set up the service. I was initially given an appointment time of 8:00 a.m.as it was more convenient for the company schedule. Due to a conflict in my schedule I requested a 9:00 appointment time. The scheduler and I agreed upon a start time between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The technician arrived at my home at 8:07 a.m., thus throwing off my schedule. He was polite although he did not introduce himself by name. I looked for but did not see a name tag. However the truck he drove was marked and his uniform shirt indicated the company name. The technician covered his feet while in my home and did not leave any mess or debris . The service was completed by 9:00 a.m. There were no issues with our system so no further charges were necessary beyond the Big Deal payment price. The technician did include his name on the Service Order/Invoice sheet that he left with me. As services go this one was rather smooth. I would use them again only if I am certain that I have more flexibility in my schedule.
Description of Work: The technician tuned up and serviced our whole house air conditioner system.

Audit was done very swiftly by two men. When results were in, they were explained to us, and within two days we received an email with an estimate to correct problems.. There was absolutly no pressure.. We decided to have the work done and called them to schedule. Two men cam,e on time. They worked itn basement sealing possible outside air entry points, Insulated the door aand sealed all ductwork. In the house proper they caulked around doors and windows where needed. Work was done cleanly and professionally. We hardly knew they were here.

Comfort MD provided a detailed home energy assessment and provided a summary report of their findings. This included recommended upgrades to the home and or other suggestions. I found out my stove puts out alot of CO2 and I should always use an exhaust fan and that our home is very tightly sealed and could use some mechanical ventilation. All in all a great study I conducted mostly out of curiosity as we just had our home built in 2011

I was not very happy with COMFORT MD's service at all. They basically did not do anything with the furnace. They hose dried it and tried to sell me stuff. It was just a draw in to tell me I need this and that but everything was perfect with the air conditioning unit. It was a kid that came out and he was trying to add on stuff I needed.

We went out 7/24 for an air conditioning check. We performed an evaluation and cleaning of the air conditioner. What the homeowner purchased was an air conditioning inspection for $49 not a furnace inspection and that is why we did not do any service to the furnace. My service tech Joe who has been with Comfort MD for over 10 years (not a kid) did exactly what he was supposed to do. Comfort MD never tries to sell anything. What Joe did was make recommendations on his invoice. It is up to the customer whether they want to spend their money on any recommendations. If being through comes off as trying to sell something then, I The Owner, am truely sorry for that.

Comfort MD did the troubleshooting, removed the old unit, replaced it, and also fixed wiring for thermostat (that we didn't even know was faulty, at first). The owner took time to review options with me (cheaper short-term fix vs more expensive but longer lasting fix) and after some discussion and further investigation at the condo we arrived at the most sensible and risk free solution. They did the job well and for the price they quoted; they didn't even charge me extra for fixing the wiring for the thermostat. I will use them again, whenever I need a/c or heating services!
Description of Work: Replaced 2 Ton air conditioner condensing unit on the roof of condominium building. Found a way to remove and replace unit without having to rent a crane, saving me $250 to $495, depending on crane provider and availability.

Did a thorough cleaning of the unit. Checked for leaks of the coolant. Checked filter on heating unit. Gave advice on future maintenance. Said unit was working well with no leaks. Advised that, if coolant should leak in the future, should evaluate whether it would be cost efficient to repair or replace unit because of its age.

It went very well. The service man arrived on time and worked efficiently at inspecting and testing the various parts of the system. He explained why I needed to add coolant, likely due to a leak in the system, as well as the fact that they would monitor it next season to determine if I would be better off getting a new unit. The inspection was an element of the service contract I signed with ComfortMD last September when they inspected my furnace for the winter season. The cost of this part of the service contract I listed above is a guess on my part. I had changed service companies based on the super job done by ComfortMD in weatherproofing my home as part of the gas company's home inspection program the previous winter.

The installed both the Air Conditioner, modified my furnace motor to make it more efficient, and a Fujitzu Heat Pump. They were professional and all times. Their price was competitive; however, they went above and beyond. The installation team went out of their way to find just the right color and style of siding to match my home costing them a half day. They installed a channel that ran wire in that was my specification. And they ran the electric wiring per my specifications. All without increased cost. And as a follow-up they catered to my unique idiosyncrasies in wanting no openings to the outside world for any cabling etc. I would recommend them all day long.

We ended up not using them. Their quote was not very different from the company that we wound up using but we just decided not to go with them. We didn’t dislike them; we just decided to go with someone else. The person that came out was professional. There was nothing really negative about them; it was just that we decided to stay with the company that we dealt with the past. They were responsive.

This is a very dishonest company. update . My response to the owners comment is that;you have no professionalism with your untruthful comments. To the potential new customer out there it is up to you to take a chance or not with this company . GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Initially used them to service my heating and air system in June of 2011. At that point, they had charged me $570 for the whole system. A month later, my ac for the upstairs went out. They came out, evaluated it, and said I needed a new compressor. He put it in, and instructed me to call back in 6 hours and the ac system did not work. He said he would get in touch with us the next day (7.18.2011) He never called back at all. He had said it would be $4500 to get a new one, so I was very concerned. He never called back. A month later, my other ac broke. I then called another company. They fixed my downstairs, and I then asked him to look at the one upstairs. He put a new fuse in my upstairs ac and it worked just fine. I did not need to have a new ac replaced.

Response from Comfort MD
After going through our records from 2011 and checking all the facts, it appears the member was missing a few key points. He was correct that Comfort MD did come out in June 2011 to clean and check his two air conditioners however he did not indicate that his second floor unit was not working. Comfort MD identified there was no refrigerant in the unit. We found a leak at his indoor coil, made the repair and recharged his unit with 7 pounds of R-22 refrigerant. The member was invoiced $570 for the two cleanings, the repair and refrigerant. We went back out 7/17/2011 for a no cooling call. We found the condenser motor and compressor overheated and the compacitor bad. This had nothing to do with the prior repair. Comfort MD replaced the capacitor (NOT the compressor - big difference) at NO COST, but could not go any futher until the unit cooled down and reset. The invoice clearly states to leave the unit off and to turn it back on in 2 to 4 hours. No where on his invoice did we recommend a new unit or even quote a new unit. In fact it doesn't say anything about Comfort MD calling the next day. I find it upsetting that Comfort MD never heard from the member until this review 16 months later, especially coming off one of the hottest summers on record in 2012. The member says we are a "very dishonest company" but he also failed to mention that he was never charged for the service call or part in July 2011. Comfort MD presents the facts and will never try to sell a customer something they don’t need. Furthermore, Comfort MD stands behind everything we do and If the member would have indicated there was additional problems with his unit at the time (not 16 months later) I, the owner would have made sure he was taken care of. It’s unfortunate the member views Comfort MD this way, he is definitely a minority based on the retention and satisfaction of our customers. I am thankful for the opportunity to respond to the member's review.

When our air-conditioner died in September 2011, we immediately started researching new systems (the furnace was just as old, so probably on its way out too.) Boy, has technology changed in the last couple decades! We investigated the major brands, including American Standard/Trane, Bryant/Carrier and Ruud/Rheem, and requested quotes from 8 different companies. We were looking for opinions on heat pumps vs. air conditioners, different furnace options/models, insulation options for our attic and crawlspace, usefulness of some of the newer technologies, etc. Obviously, with so much being new to us, we wanted someone who really knew their stuff and could help us decide. We interviewed all 8 companies to see how they would answer certain questions. We paid attention to how they sized units for the quote (did they do a formal load calculation?) We asked how they would address logistical issues we already knew we would run into with a high-efficiency furnace. We narrowed the list down to 3 "finalists," then started talking numbers and specifics. The $9,186 we ended up spending (before rebates) was a lot of money, but it included a lot of stuff -- a high-end system (right down to the XL950 programmable color touchscreen WIFI thermostat ? probably one of the first ones installed in the Cleveland area), significant insulation work for our attic and basement crawlspace, plus the extra 10 year parts & labor warranty. Leigh?s price was very competitive (not the lowest, but one of the best 2-3). We had quotes from other reputable companies that were as high as $14,000. We met some very good people, but Leigh stood out to us. We instantly felt comfortable with him. It was obvious he knew HVAC & offered us some worthwhile suggestions for addressing the issues we already knew we faced. He helped guide us through the decision making process of heat pump vs. air conditioner, helped us understand & choose other components for the system and explained everything else we asked about. He provided every piece of technical information we requested, including the specific model numbers & AHRI matching numbers for the system (we never received that information from a couple other highly-rated companies!) Leigh was very accessible via phone or email and quick to respond when we left a message. He went out of his way to make us feel at ease every step of the way. His HVAC installation guys, Jeff & Ray, were outstanding. They were very approachable and always willing to explain exactly what they were doing. No installation ever goes perfectly (especially in small, older homes like ours,) and we ran into some unanticipated issues. Jeff & Ray came up with workable alternatives and communicated everything to us before they cut a single piece of drywall or piping. Their work was very professional, and they left the place immaculate each day ? returning any furniture to its original location, vacuuming the entire area, removing old equipment as soon as it had been disconnected, etc. They left the manuals for each piece of equipment (right down to the small relay panel!) Our installation took a few days longer than expected because of the issues, but they remained pleasant and committed to getting everything done right, not just getting it done. Leigh visited us during the installation to check on how things were going, then followed up several times after the work was completed. He was also extremely helpful with the rebates (FirstEnergy HVAC efficiency program, American Standard rebates, etc.) He basically filled out the forms for us and submitted everything with the required documentation. We barely had to do anything other than sit back and wait for the checks! There was a minor issue with the thermostat (not exactly unexpected with brand new technology.) Leigh arranged for two experts from American Standard to come out and they went through everything until it was working as it was supposed to. We ran into another issue with one of the rebates, which Leigh also handled to our complete satisfaction. Our insulation work was completed without issue, and we're already enjoying the benefits of our more efficient house. The GoodCents energy audits showed a significant improvement in CFM50 after the work was completed, and our energy bills have been consistently 30-40% lower than a year ago. We would wholeheartedly recommend Leigh & Comfort MD to anyone looking for HVAC or insulation work. We felt 100% comfortable dealing with him, and his employees were professional and courteous at all times.
Description of Work: Installed matched HVAC system and insulated the attic & basement crawlspace: HVAC: Complete replacement of a 16-yr old (80% single stage) furnace and 8 SEER air conditioner with an American Standard Freedom 95 Comfort-R variable speed modulating (communicating) furnace, American Standard 16 SEER 36,000 BTU 2-stage heat pump, Comfort Link XL950 color touch screen programmable thermostat, Platinum electric controllable/automatic humidifier (with condensation pump), 10 year parts and labor warranty. Insulation: air sealed attic, closed off thermal passes, insulated attic door, installed ventilation baffles, foamed all plumbing penetrations, loose fill cellulose blown-in to R-49, Solar Guard R-11 reflective barrier on floor of attic. Sealed and insulated basement crawlspace including all exposed band joists with 2-part foam, sealed all exposed duct work, chimney, plumbing penetrations.

An energy audit was done by Dominion East Ohio. Comfort MD was a contractor on their list .Leigh Weinberg of Comfort MD referred to the audit report and fully explained what should be done and the costs involved We agreed on the job and price. Leigh said his company would complete and send the rebate forms to Dominion East Ohio. I myself have no experience in evaluating an insulation installation so I was pleased that someone in this field would be evaluating the work to justify the rebates. There was a delay here and since Dominion did not contact me to do the evaluation I called Comfort MD again and they said they would resubmit the rebate forms and send me an itemized receipt. Someone from Dominion did the evaluation last week and all work was approved. I am hoping to get my rebate check soon so I can then consider this project finished.
Description of Work: Air seal attic, and blow in insulation. Basement: wrap water tank, seal supply and return ductwork, foam all penetrations, seal all thermal bypasses Clean and check furnace and tank. f
