Cages by Jim came out to remove a raccoon that was living in the overhang above our front door.  They were responsible in setting up the appointment so that the trap wouldn't be set while we were out of town.  They trapped a mother raccoon and four kits, and then repaired the opening created by the raccoons.  They also removed other debris from the crawl space (bird's nest, etc.) and cleaned everything up.  Nothing was left dumped in the bushes.
They were prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional.  Hopefully I won't need them again, but if I do, I won't hesitate to call.

I knew we had a problem - I heard tiny foot steps in the ceiling of my dining room, little did I know that Bullwinkles's friend was residing there with his family. I called cages by Jim -was told the costs and availability of their techs. The tech arrived when promised. He looked the situation over, placed some mouse/rat traps in some spaces in the second floor as a precaution. Went outside to check the place where we believed they were coming in. Told me that from the hair around the opening that it was a squirrel. Came back to install the squirrel cage. Told me what to expect and to call in if anything appeared in the cage. Within an hour the cage was filled with a large male squirrel. The tech removed the squirrel and euthanized him (this is a requirement as the squirrel cannot be released after capture here). The cage was reset, and the tech left. Another 2 hours goes by and the cage was filled again by a female this time. I called again and the tech arrived in a reasonable time. While the cage was being emptied I heard more footsteps and told the tech. He reset the cage and told me that if I needed him again that day he probably couldn't make it as he had another job on the east side. Well we had  another couple of hours and the cage was once again filled - a young male this time. I called again and the owner called back and said that his tech would be there as the temps outside were going down to single digits and the squirrel would die. I said what is the difference and I was told that it was inhumane to have the creature freeze to death. So later that early evening, the tech showed up and removed the final squirrel. The cage was removed after the weekend was over and he placed a cover over the hole where they had gotten in.  The tech worked a very long day to accomplish all of this. I was very please with the result

Cages by Jim are great.  They tried to help me with my problem.  They cut a hole in the roof to check to see if anything was in there.  We played the waiting game.  We put cages on the roof but nothing was going in there.  They did a great job helping me.  They did end up catching a opossum in the backyard.

'It went extremely well overall.  They were extremely prompt -  Cages by Jim came out the same day we called them. They set up a trap over where the 'kitties with a stripe' were burrowing under the sun porch.  These critters proved to be very aggressive and ingenious.  They burrowed around the trap and tripped the trap w/o being captured on several occasions.  Jim upgraded the trap until he captured both skunks and insured they were the only two who had taken up residence.  He then installed exclusion fencing to insure none of their relatives took up residence under the porch.
We found Cages by Jim to be very professional, extremely responsive and prompt.  We felt they did very high quality work.
Cages by Jim is highly rated on Angie's List and has won a number of Angie's Lists awards.  We totally concur with these ratings and awards.

I was concerned that there were skunks living in my shed. The technician came out very soon after I called and checked all around my property including inside the shed. He determined that they wer not living inside but placed 2 skunk traps near the shed and in an additiona area of the yard. The traps remained for 2 months but no skunks were trapped and they were removed ater that time.

We noticed an active racoon on numerous occasions during the day.  The racoon was walking between the houses, using the elderly next door neighbor's basement window well for a bathroom and walking across our deck.  Since we have young children and dogs, the racoon had to go as we were nervous about the diseases that they can transmit as well as the damage that they can do if the decide to live in your house.

We called our normal exterminating company who does not do animal removal, but did provide a phone number for Cages by Jim.  Jim came out the next day and and set up cages.  The next morning there were 2 racoons.  I called Jim and they were promptly removed and new cages set up.  Over the course of a month, we trapped 5 racoons and 2 squirrels.  Since the squirrels were not the target, they were released and the cages re-set.

Jim and his staff are courtesous and prompt.  We were satisfied with the service.

We left a phone message late in the day explaining that we wanted an undetermined number of squirrels removed from the attic walls of our residence. They would make a lot of noise during certain times of the day and we were worried that they might damage electrical wiring and cause a house fire or chew a hole through the attic wall into the living area of the house. The following day we received a phone call from Jim the owner of Cages by Jim explaining the cost for removal per squirrel. We set up an appointment for the initial consultation. An employee arrived at our house on the day and time that was agreed upon. He found the location of the entrance hole near the second floor gutter where the squirrels were entering the house. We paid $97.00 for the work performed to determine the squirrel entrance hole to the house and for the installation of a humane trap around 11:00am. The hole was covered with heavy wire screen that led to the trap. No new squirrels could enter the house and any that were already in the house would end up in the trap when they left the house. We were told to call whenever we saw a trapped squirrel and that they would pick up the animal and remove it from our yard. At 3:30pm the same day we called when we noticed a live squirrel caught in the trap. By 4:30pm they came out and removed the live squirrel and reset the trap. We called the very next day at around 10:00am when we noticed another squirrel in the trap. At around noon the second squirrel was removed and the trap reset. The trap was left for several days and we called to have the trap removed as we no longer heard any animal noises in the attic walls. They came on the day and hour as agreed during our phone call to pick up the empty trap and fix the entrance hole. On that day we paid $100.00 for the removal of the two squirrels and $50.00 for the repair of the hole. The employee Mark answered all our questions during the his four trips to our house. He appeared to enjoy his job and was kind to both squirrels that were captured and assured us that the animals would be treated humanely and in accordance with the government regulations. We were extremely pleased with the service and received our money's worth.

We occasionally have had the local game warden come and remove a bat from our house. We researched bat removal companies and had one come out. He wanted $1300 to seal the entire house after the bats migrate in the fall, but he was vague about exactly what he would do. We researched bats and found that some species do not migrate. We then heard about Cages by Jim. He came out promptly when scheduled, inspected the outside of our house thoroughly and found three locations where bats were getting in. He explained to us in detail what they would do, gave us an estimate, and returned promptly on the scheduled date to do the work. We were not at home when they did the initial work, but we could see that they installed three bat "valves" in the three locations. These valves let the bats out when they leave at night, but do not let them re-enter the attic. It appeared that they also neatly sealed all locations where bats could possibly get in with caulk and a foam material and apparently used screws to fasten areas of the vinyl siding and vents, etc. They had told us they would return in a week to ten days which would allow the bats to all leave and then after the bats were all gone they would finish the job. Eight days later they returned promptly at the scheduled time, assured us and themselves that the bats had all left, removed the valves, and finished caulking and sealing the house. (He told us that he had been out to our house some days earlier to check that everything was working properly.) They did an excellent, neat, and very professional caulking job, despite some large bushes at the front of the house which made access to the peak of the house very difficult. They then inspected our attic and basement for any other related problems, which were very minimal, as they said only a small number of bats had gotten in. While inspecting inside the attic, he found a small hole near the roof flashing that was letting light into the attic. He immediately got his ladder and went up on the outside of the house and sealed that hole as well. He gave us a five-year guarantee on the work. He was so thorough, competent, confident, and professional that we really do not think we will ever have another problem. They charged us only the estimate price.

Called Cages by Jim to trap 4 groundhogs (mother and young adults). Promptly returned my call, promptly came to the house, explained the procedure to call when groundhog in trap. Each time I called (they trapped all 4!), they promptly came to the house to pick up the animal. Left traps until I was satisfied that there were no more animals. I think the price is a little high, however the company and each employee that I spoke with or came to the house was polite, professional and concerned about doing a good job.

We had groundhogs under our deck that were causing problems. I caught one of them in a cage, so I just needed somebody to pick up the cage. When I called him, he said that there was an animal warden that would do that for free, covered by taxes. He was pretty honest in that situation. He also called me back within the same day.

Not so well. Jim is a pleasant man and he did replace the first trap and extend the time we'd paid for when I noted that it had failed to spring when something took the bait. My only advice is not to hire him for woodchucks (or at least young ones) because they would walk right past the bait (only a bit of apple) and continue to eat whatever else they pleased. Maybe they can't be caught. Save your money.

Very positive experience. I'm sure Jim's prices are competitive and he does cover a large service area, but trapping woodchucks sure is expensive. On the other hand I'm not sure what else we could have done.

The service was good. It took like a week. But I told them to bring us another cage back one day and he never did. I felt that he didn't follow through the way he should've.

He responded the next day to my phone call and was out here very promptly and he set up the traps. Unfortunately, the traps didn't work and I still have the problem. I will have to call him back. His pricing is pretty reasonable.

I always call Jim when I am at my wits end for a solution to highly destructive animal behavior. He trapped at least 3 to 4 raccoons and one ground hog this past summer. He is professional and efficient. The City of Berea pays half of his costs.
