It went really bad!! Last summer, I was having the issue of warm air blowing from my air conditioner and this previous winter, frost would build up on my outside unit when I run my heat. Back in March I contracted with AirNow Mechanical LLC. Ron the owner of the company, did service call ($75 dollars) around or about March 16th. He checked the outside unit only, he never went into the basement to check the inside unit. He said the outside unit needed a defrost control circuit board, which he said was cracked and it also needed a defrost control sensor, which would be best since a new circuit board was being installed/replaced. He said he had to order the parts from out of town, (shipping cost was $22.00 for each part). I didn't understand why the cost would be $22.00 a piece since both parts were coming from the same store. He said the parts would be delivery to a Lennox store near his home where he picked them up that Saturday, March 17, 2018 and come be here at the appointed time which was at 12:00 pm. After the work was done, Ron only checked the heat and not the air conditioner. Ron also shared with me that he had check the Freon in the unit and the Freon was good. On Sunday May 27, 2018, the first time turning on my Air Conditioner since Ron had done the work. After an hour of running the air conditioner, the house wasn't getting cooler, I checked the air vents only warm air was blowing out. I went outside to look at the unit and the fan wasn't working. So, I called Ron H, of AirNow Mechanical LLC, since he had serviced my unit on March 17, 2018 I shared with him what was going on with my air conditioner and fan. Ron said he could come out the following day (Monday May 28, 2018) at 12:00 pm. Ron arrived at my home which I wasn’t aware of. He began doing work before ever letting me know he had arrived. He had taken off the panel on the outside unit, said he reset a value struck in heat mode (according to him, the reason I wasn’t getting cool air) and hooked up this Freon gauge, all before I was aware he was my home. I wasn't very pleased and this wasn’t professional at all. I would have appreciated if he would have let me know he had arrived before starting any work. After doing all of this, he calls my phone to let me know he was at my front door. He shared with me the problem was the value was stuck in heat mode (something about valves switching from heat to air conditioner). Checking to see how it was working, he turned on the air conditioner; however, it was still blowing warm air. He then shared that there seemed to be a problem with the Freon, that it was very low which I truly did not understand since he had just checked the Freon back in March and said it was good. I asked him how could it be gone that quick, his response was maybe someone stole it or there could be a leak. He offered to put some unfiltered Freon in the unit at no cost/charge since it was low. I asked him if the unfiltered Freon would cause any damage or any other problems, he said it wouldn't. Again, he mentions there might be a leak and mention that process, the time it would take (about 4 hours), and how costly it would be. I tried to focus on him adding Freon to see if this might be the problem. Now the Freon isn’t flowing freely through the evaporator and expansion valve, something maybe getting struck or it’s not being sucked in the evaporator as it should. He said he would do a basic leak check but he never did. At this point he ask to check the inside unit. When he checks it, there is another issue, the TXV (Thermal Expansion Valve), it has frost on it and needs to be replaced. He couldn’t guarantee it was the issue. He took a picture of the parts and said he would try to order it the following next day. I am no HVAC person but I didn't understand all that was happening and all the issues that seemed to be coming up, one after another, then it was the compressor, it seemed to not be working according to Ron, he said maybe it just needed to cool off. He was at my home for about an hour. He left to go do another job scheduled and said he would come back when he was finished with that job plus this would give the compressor time to cool down so he could put the Freon in. About 2.5 hours later he came back. No Freon and my air conditioner still isn’t working properly. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. And on top of that, this being my first time ever, contracting with a service. I truly feel like this guy took and was trying this time to take the advantage of me. Even more so now. He asked me to pay him for the service charge. My air conditioner is not fixed and It is still hot in my home, nothing got fixed. I am not even sure of the work he did on March 17, 2018. March 17, 2018. The cost of service for parts, shipping, and labor $212.00. plus, a service call for $75.00. I have attached pictures and the invoices for March and May 2018. I am so disappointed. I will also be following up with BBB. This was just bad for me all the way around.
