I experienced a large usage in water bill and before having a plumber tear up my yard to replace the water line, I called Underground Detective to see if they could locate the source of the leak. Arrived on time, very courteous and professional, explained what they would do. Unfortunately unable to determine if the leak was due to the main water line so had to bring in a plumber and have the main water line replaced. I was very surprised that they did not charge me anything...said 'couldn't isolate the problem, so no charge'..wow...that doesn't happen often:) I definitely will use them again to help 'detect' underground issues.

My only experience with this company so far has been to obtain a quote, but I was so impressed by the responsiveness and service that I had to submit a report. We purchased a house this past fall and we need to have our propane tank relocated (because the previous owners located it outside the property line). This move requires that our gas line be re-trenched and I need to have any underground utilities located before the work can be done. I found out today that the OUPS ticket I submitted does not help me with the privately-owned utilities...bummer. And so my search for a company that locates underground utilities began. The folks at OUPS gave me a number for a company that did not deal with residential locating and the number that company gave me was for an outfit in Pennsylvania....I live in Grove City. So, I continued searching and found a website that offered some helpful suggestions. I submitted online quotes to two companies and within 10-15 minutes I had a thoughtful response AND quote from Rob Harris, from The Underground Detective. I was impressed to say the least. I thought his quote was very reasonable (an hourly rate) and he offered to save me an additional mobilization fee (they are based in Cincinnati) if I was willing to wait until they had additional work in the Columbus area...bonus! Surprised that they were not already on Angie's List, but I am planning on using their services as soon as I can get on the schedule.  Will update my review after work has been completed.
