Fantastic! My floors had 19 years of wear and tear. Ed and his crew made them look better than the day we moved in. Since they were engineered hardwood they can only be refinished once and in my view there is no room for error. There were no errors. His crew was professional and their work was superior!

This is NOT an insignificant project to undertake in an "over" furnished home... Moving everything OUT was more of an effort than we originally thought. Packing up the dog and moving out for two nights was a significant interruption, as well. I mention this only because after clearing the floors for the contractors, I was not about to settle for anything less than a perfect job. Schindler's crew delivered. A month later when I discovered some "drops" of finish and unfilled nail holes, they responded immediately.

Ed and his team did an excellent job in all areas. He was quick to return my call to set up a time for an estimate and stayed in touch until the work was completed. Work was done to repair a small area in my hardwood floors in one of our bedrooms. The young men that Ed sent to do the job were very personable, on time and completed the job in a timely manner. They even went a step further by matching the stain on the existing hardwood floor and left me a small amount so I could blend in the repair myself, saving me extra money. When I had a question later that day regarding the work that had been completed, Ed was very quick to respond to my phone call and answer any questions I had. Would definitely use them again when I am ready to completely refinish my floors.

My floors are a natural finish and about 12.5 years old. I don't think they had ever been re-done and I had 3 areas that needed repaired. The ice maker had leaked on occasion and we didn't always notice right away, so the boards were a little warped and discolored. They taped off the appropriate area and sanded it down enough to fix. Also, another board in the vicinity of the table had a worn spot the size of a quarter and they took care of that, too. The third area was behind the toilet in the half bath that the boards had spaces between the slats, probably from the original install. They filled them in so they didn't look odd. Once this was all done, they buffed the entire surface, vacuumed, and then put a fresh top coat to reseal. The area in front of the fridge is a lighter color, but it the sealant will age over time to become less noticeable. We chose to not have the whole thing sanded b/c we knew we were moving and only wanted to address the damaged area without spending too much money. I appreciate how they didn't try to talk me into doing more.

Final product looks great. Ed and his team worked with us to get the final stain color exactly as we wanted. It involved more work than had initially been anticipated but they got it done in timely manner.

Perfection! Originally planned for 4 days - 2 sanding and 2 finishing. They were able to combine day 2 of sanding with day 1 of finishing and completed the job in 3 days. I had severe UV damage to my Brazilian Rosewood floors resulting in harsh differences in color. Also, kitchen had lots of areas that needed hand sanding - around island legs, cabinet legs, etc. The 2-man crew was fantastic. They were super accommodating, polite and professional. We used their high capacity dust collection system but they nevertheless sealed off the rooms in plastic. Nothing is dust-free but I was impressed with the minimal need for post work clean-up. As for the refinishing job itself, it was remarkable. Floors were restored to complete uniformity in shade and finish. Price was excellent - I had 3 quotes from Angie's List top rated companies. Schindler was near the low end on cost. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I will be doing business with them again!

Everything went very well. All personnel were professional and courteous. Pat, who removed the old finish, amazed me with his non-stop efforts on a physically grueling task. The washed oak shading was a bit tricky to match, but they did very well.

They came when they said they would, did the work in a very professional manor and did not charge extra for replacing some existing bad wood that was not known to any of us and replaced the furniture when the floors had dried. I always tell people not to buy a price, buy a job and I would use them again and highly recommend them to any one

Ed's staff did an excellent job of matching new to existing flooring, and the old floor was restored. The staff were so courteous and easy to work with they were prompt and the whole job went smoothly and I was pleasantly surprised at how little dust was generated.. Great Job! I would definetly recommend Schindler's Hardwood to everyone.

I was out of town when job was completed. I had a friend staying in my place. The crack in center of floor turned out very good. They stated the job would take 5-6 days. They finished in 2. Several days they did not show up or were extremely late. In one room, a large drip marks are in the center of the room, where the poly was spilled and not cleaned up, but the second coat was put down overtop of it anyway. I had the previously pull up all toe strips to make sanding easier for contractor. Provider was unwilling to paint and install replacement toe strips. So I had to do myself after they were gone. They main thing was the drip marks. One room now has to have a rug to cover it up the mistake. Overall, did an okay job. But, be sure to be on site to supervise work.

The job went very well and Ed was flexible in scheduling the job completion. His crew did a good job installing and cleaning up. We got a 5% discount using the Angie's List coupon. We are more than pleased with the entire job.

Ed Schindler and his crew are a group of hardworking professionals. Installing and finishing hardwood flooring is very taxing work, and the work ethic of each and every one of his crew members was impressive. As Ed told us, if all goes well on a job (and ours went very well), he and his crew are a minor inconvenience. Before the work started, my husband and I moved ALL furnishings off of the floors in every room and moved ourselves down into the the basement. This took 2-3 days. The hardwood installation in masterbedroom and masterbedroom closet and family room took 3-4 working days. Repairs, sanding, buffing and varnishing took another 10 working days. After a weekend of drying time, we were able to walk on the floors in sock feet. When the polyurethane application started, we moved into a hotel for 5 or 6 nights. (We have a small dog, and the Hyatt Place in BlueAsh was a great help to us in accepting pet guests.) We were advised to not put rugs down for another 3 weeks. I would definitely recommend Schindler Hardwood to those who want the beauty of the old-fashioned, traditional tongue and groove flooring. These guys know what they are doing!

Floors had been covered with carpet which was removed along with the padding and tacking and the floor had been cleaned before I sought estimates for the project. I hired Schindler for the job after comparing estimates and their explanation of the work they would perform including adding a kick-toe, base shoe or wooden strip to bridge the gap between the new floor level and the baseboard bottom due to removal of the carpet and padding. The crew arrived on-time when scheduled and were professional and polite. We handled the removal of the furniture from the rooms before they arrived and went directly to work. They utilized a vacuum sander that created minimal dust per our agreement, and also sanded and stained the closets in each room. The completed job was amazing. I can't believe I didn't have it done sooner and will now probably do the remainder of the house now that I know how good these floor can look. The job was done on budget per the quote and completed on time. I would definitely recommend and hire this company again.

I think it went very well. We are moving soon and didn't want to invest in a complete floor re-do, but needed to do some repairs to the wood and clear coat the entire surface area. It included the entryway, foyer, half bath, kitchen, eating area and another hallway. Due to where the work was performed, we had to stay off for 24 hours on the last day of the work (it took 3 days), so be prepared to accommodate your life. We ended up going away for the weekend b/c the smell of the clear coat was very strong and lingering, but there is no way around that. Our floors have a "natural" finish, so there was no need to stain. Be sure to read the fine print of what is included with the coupon before buying. Since we had not ever had the floors worked on, I wasn't aware of the specific terms used in the coupon. It was only after paying the initial $269, I found out buffing was not the same as sanding. Ed Schindler (owner) came out and looked at what we had going on and I knew there would be extra charges for the repairs as well as our floor surface was larger than what the coupon special included. The two men he sent to perform the work were very nice and took extra care to move the fridge properly in order to adequately repair the water damage. I am pleased with how it all turned out.

Ed had to install floors that butted up to 17 year old hardwood that was in great condition and match it as close as possible. The job is beyond perfect. It's amazing and impressive. He does quality work. Period. They are on time, prompt, and professional. He did exactly what he said he would do in the time frame he said he would do it in. Thanks Ed!!! The floors in my new home are made up of stunning, long and narrow Red Oak planks that have been walked on for at least 70 years. The floors had never been re-finished, conditioned, or thoroughly cleaned. So as you can imagine they were in rough shape. A few pet stains, lots of heavy traffic areas, and spots in need of a little repair were all issues that Ed and his team managed to skillfully make disappear. You must be thinking, how could they have made them disappear. Trust me, they're gone. The work was done over the span of a week. My old farmhouse doesn't have central air so the drying took quite a bit longer than it would in other houses with AC. We weren't living in the house at this point so it worked out just fine. The sanding took two days and the staining took another two, but there was a break in between the two days of staining due to the slow drying. Ed and his team even came in on Memorial Day to finish the work. There was hardly any dust leftover from the sanding because Ed and his team use a vacuum attached to their sander. Two coats of polyurethane were applied. With the help of some ventilation, the smell was completely gone in a week or two. The first time I saw the floors after Ed and his team had finished was shocking. It looked like I had brand new floors. The Red Oak was full of detailed grains before the re-finish, but afterwards I was able to notice so much more of the beautiful grains of the wood. Ed and his team brought my floors back to life. Simply stunning. An everyday guy, Ed is very experienced, dedicated, and skilled in his trade and exudes professionalism and workmanship that any homeowner would appreciate bringing into their home. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ed again in the future.

Ed's team did a fantastic job with our hardwood refinish. The floor is sixteen years old and now simply looks brand new...so very incredible. The installers were here on time and did a superb job from start to finish. You cannot go wrong with this company. The process took about three days from first sand job to the second coat of poly on the finish and we would totally use Ed and his team again.

Appointment easily made. Mr. Schindler right on time. Ver professional and friendly. Explained what I need and what I asked for were 2 different things. If I were going to have the whole house hardwood floors redone I would most likely hire Schindler Hardwood. However, to remove everything from the house and be away 5 days and nights is more than I want to deal with at this time. Mr Schindler gave me a verbal quote and said he would send a written quote. He asked for my email address but I have not received any communication from him since he left from our appointment 7 days ago.

Estimation went well. But it was suggested that resurfacing will not reach the effect we want.Refinishing is suggested and quoted. But we do not have the time to do so considering moving schedule.

Floor needed more work than the deal provided for. No other issues with the provider.

They came out to review my floors and explained I probably didn't need the resurfacing they were offering and suggested other things for me to do that would be more cost effective for me. I really appreciated his honesty, his willingness to schedule our meeting so quickly. I'll definitely use him next time I need hardwood work done - great company!
