They offered free installation with activation, and one month of service. Was not given opportunity to opt out since they installed it the same evening. I was not given enough time to opt out of the contract. I don't like their tactics I feel they prey on the elderly.

I have used them for 5 years. When the alarm goes off they will immediately call me. They are very professional and fix any issues that come up without any additional cost. I have no comlaints with them.

Once contract details were finalized, the installation date was scheduled for 3 days later. Note: BE SURE TO READ CONTRACT! I found several mistakes in system details before I finally signed. The primary Technician (Gary) arrived exactly at 8AM and worked a full 10 hours on installation. Half way through first day the secondary technician (Joe) arrived to help. BOTH did excellent work and obviously knew what they were doing. Gary arrived exactly at 8AM on the second day also. After another 10 hours, the installation was complete. It took about 2 hours for Gary to test the system and Protection One leaves no stone unturned. EVERY aspect of the system was tested and explained. Overall I am VERY happy with the quality of workmanship, equipment and operation. EDIT: 11/24/10 - Received first bill for monthly monitoring. Instead of $35.95 per month, the bill was for $357.22. The main difference was due to tax being charged for new system. During quote process, I SPECIFICALLY asked if quote included all taxes and was told YES. Apparently the sales rep misrepresented that fact because tax was NOT included in pricing. As such, I am downgrading my "professionalism" grade from an "A" to a "B". I wonder what OTHER surprises are lurking over the horizon.

One thing we don't like is that we want to pay two years in advance so we don't have to pay anything, they insist that is everything, then there is always a follow up bill. We do like the service. They respond quickly enough when I test it. For a security company, they meet our needs.

I HAD THE SALES PERSON IN MY HOME TWICE. IT MIGHT OF BEEN A DIFFERENCE IN PERSONALITY, BUT I THOUGHT SHE WAS CONFUSING AND SEEM EITHER TOO FORGET TO TELL ME SOMETHING OR JUST WANTED TO ABOUT TALK MONEY BUT I WAS CONFUSED. I FELT AT TIMES I GOT DIFFERENT STORIES. I CALLED THE NATIONAL COMPANY AND THE LOCAL COMPANY AND WAS PLEASED WITH THE MANAGEMENT AT BOTH PLACES. I DID SOME MY OWN MARKET RESEARCH DOING THE 2 WEEKS I WAS DECIDING ON WHICH COMPANY TO CHOOSE. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 5PM/ 8PM/10PM/2AM. I DID ALOT OF THE SAME AND DIFFERENT QUESTIONS. I WAS DETAIL ORIENTED IN THE QUESTIONS I ASKED AND EVEN AT 2AM THEY ANSWERED ALL QUESTIONS IN THE SAME PROFESSIONAL WAY BUT POLITE WAY. I WAS IMPRESSED, SINCE I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM DURING NONE BUSINESS HOURS. THIS IS THE REASON I CHOSE THEM THEY WERE CONSISTENT NO MATTER WHEN I CALLED THEM.

THE TECHNICIAN CAME AT THE APPOINTED TIME. HE CALLED AHEAD TO LET ME KNOW HE WAS ON HIS WAY. AFTER HAVING SOME ELECTRICAL WORK DONE IT WAS NECESSARY TO RUN THE WIRING FOR THE ALARM TO A DIFFERENT OUTLET THAN IT HAD BEEN RUN TO WHEN INITIALLY INSTALLED. CHRIS WORKED QUICKLY AND NEATLY. RELOCATED THE WIRING. THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR THE SERVICE AS IT IS COVERED UNDER MY MONTHLY AGREEMENT.
