The kitchen designer was a novice who had no experience redesigning and we ended up using a design that I had gotten from some one else. He also had a refrigerator placed in an alcove that had 3 windows- which he didn't know and attributed to the contractor not indicating on the measurements-so back to redesigning. Ultimately I received no help with maximizing the storage space and I ended up with dead space in a corner and dead space in an entire peninsula which we then had the jerry-rig a door to recover that space. Placement of the drawers and cabinets was so poor that I was not able to open the cabinet door sufficiently to pull out a pot-rack drawer because my range was in the way. The wall cabinets were again chosen to be so narrow that I can only have 3 mugs in a row whereas we could have had cabinets that abutted the window such that I could have had a row that held 4 mugs. Critical in a small kitchen. He had some-one else measure and only happened to see the kitchen once when he came to show me the drawing that had the refrigerator in the alcove. As a result-small things were missed-I am no longer able to open my kitchen door inwards because the counter just out just enough that it opens partially-so it has to stay open only. Similarly a kitchen cabinet will only open partially so that I have to place dishes from the side that does open and slide them over. This job was begun in February 2008 and I am having my counter installed in 2 weeks-it has dragged out for this long because of issues. Wrong orders delivered and having to go back repeatedly to the drawing board. I can't even begin to tell you how bad the experience with the contractor was. He NEVER returned a phone call unless it was escalated to the store manager. The entire job was a nightmare from start to finish because there was NEVER a single person that I could deal with-first the designer who handed me off the installation who handed me off to the contractor. Towards the end I just dealt with the store manager and only the manager. Everytime I called I was talking to someone else and had to go through the entire issue and have to wait till they checked with whoever was in charge before getting back to me. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

This was my first experience with Lowe's Installation Services and it was far from pleasurable. The only reason I gave them fair marks was that they did stand behind their work and eventually corrected the deficiencies of the original installation. I ordered two basic steel doors that due to the size needed to be customized. The doors cost around $800 and installation was $520. I was told that the installation cost covered everything. I was told that the doors would be in 5 days which they were. I was called by the installer (actually I believe an independent contractor, although I paid Lowe's for the installation) to set up a date and time. He picked up the doors and was prompt on the agreed date of installation, although he said his additional help was a no show. The installer completed the job in 5 hours and stated that one of the doors was tricky to get in because the house is close to 90 years old. Never did he say that the size was incorrect. When I inspected his work I found a significant gap between the house and the door frame. He recommended that I get acrylic concrete to patch that up and if he would have had some he would have done it. I thought this was odd and should have been included in the installation but did not say anything. When Lowe's called me to see how things went I asked if the gap was something that should have been covered in the installation process. They did not know and sent out a different installer who said that it was done incorrectly and wrote up a work order to fix the deficits. In the conversation I mentioned that the measurements were taken by another home improvement store. When Lowe's called me back several days later they asserted that the measurements were incorrect and since they did not take them, they were not responsible and that to fix this it would be additional money on my behalf. The rep stated that Lowe's should not have taken outside measurements but that they did it as a favor to me. I countered that at no time during the installation was it mentioned that the measurements were wrong and that the installer stated he would have completed the job if he had the right supplies. The rep could not even tell me how much more money it would cost to finish the job. I voiced my dissatisfaction with the work especially given the amount of money I paid, but the rep did not care and was argumentative that this was all my fault. She stated that she would get a quote and get back to me. Three days past and finally I got a call from both the customer service manager and the store manager. They both seemed to genuinely care about making the situation right and ensured me that the job would be completed at no additional cost to me. I asked who was going to finish the job but they did not know. Of course they sent back the original installer (likely he did not get anymore compensation) to complete the job. He was professional and finished the job satisfactorily but I would have preferred a different installer.

The pricing we were very happy about. They also sent out a person to give us an estimate on installation. There contractor pointed out problems we might run into that others didn't. It cost us $35.00 for the estimate which was worth our while.

They were cheaper than the other companies we looked at going with. We had a little trouble with the measurements since we have an older home but you get what you pay for. We also did have to wait a little longer since they were a larger company and getting in wasn't the easiest but they handled the work right away. So if we could afford more to buy windows in the future, we would go with them again.

Both the service and the product have been disappointing. The Masonite exterior front door that was installed has white goo from where the window is inserted in the door. I was told I have to live with it. The door is painted one color on the outside; another on the inside. Where the two colors come together is not straight. I special ordered a lock set. It was warped. When the replacement came one month later, it lacked all the parts necessary for complete installation. I am now into month three and waiting for the final installation to be done correctly. The first porch door that arrived was cracked on the bottom.

They pick very good contractors. They were also very helpful and patient in working out the details.

The representatives were polite and on time. They did quality work and took extra time to make sure the work was done right. They refused a tip. Follow-up was excellent.

Since this required going through the contractor sales division, there was continued confusion when the contractor would try to use the account for supplies. Every time required a phone call to me to get the proper approvals, which required 2-3 calls through the Lowe's voicemail system to get to a live person. My guess is that the contractor sales process does not work for small remodeling jobs & one subcontractor. The customer service attitudes were all very helpful, but the cashiers never knew how to access the funded account. It was less frustrating for me to call ahead, give a credit card number, then notify the subcontractor when he could pick up the supplies. We also tried to have Lowe's actually deliver the order, requiring an extra delivery charge; but 2 of those orders had incorrect or missing parts of the order.

DOOR WAS FOR A STANDARD SHOWER STALL PURCHASED AT LOWES, SO MEASUREMENTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN EXACT. AS CONFIRMATION (A GOOD THING) A MEASUREMENT WAS SCHEDULED. HOWEVER, IT TOOK OVER 3 WEEKS FOR CONTACT TO SCHEDULE THE MEASUREMENT. EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE REMINDERS. MEASUREMENT CONFIRMED ORIGINAL ESTIMATE WAS INCORRECT AND THAT I WAS ACTUALLY ENTITLED TO A REFUND. I WAS TOLD THE REFUND WOULD BE COMPLETED AUTOMATICALLY AFTER THE INSTALLATION. INSTALLATION WAS TO BE WITHIN 10-14 DAYS. TOOK ANOTHER 3 WEEKS AND REMINDERS BEFORE IT WAS SCHEDULED. AFTER ANOTHER MONTH, REFUND WAS NEVER MADE. DURING A STORE VISIT, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTER WAS RECEPTIVE TO MY PROBLEM AND IMMEDIATELY PROVIDED A REFUND FOR THE BALANCE.

THEY WERE PROMPT WHEN MY FAUCET WAS DEFECTIVE, I CALLED AND THEY IMMEDIATELY CAME OUT AND EVEN UPGRADED IT AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTS IS VERY GOOD, AND WE'VE BEEN PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE. THEY WERE VERY PROMPT. THEY CAME OUT WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND THEY WORKED QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. IT WAS A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE.

I MET WITH A KITCHEN DESIGNER TO DESIGN A NEW KITCHEN, WHICH WENT FINE. HE CAME OUT AND MEASURED, AND THEN FAXED THEIR CONTRACTOR WITH THE FLOOR PLAN. I PAID LOWES $60 FOR THE CONTRACTOR TO COME OUT TO MEASURE MY KITCHEN AND TOLD ME HE WOULD HAVE AN ESTIMATE FOR ME IN A COUPLE DAYS. THAT WAS OVER A MONTH AGO. I CALLED LOWES AFTER WAITING A COUPLE OF WEEKS, AND THEY MADE UP SOME SORT OF EXCUSE, AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK WITH ME IN A COUPLE DAYS. THEY STILL HAVEN'T CALLED. SO I WENT AND GOT A REFUND FOR THE $60 MEASURING FEE. I'VE DECIDED TO LOOK ELSEWHERE.

I AM PLEASED WITH THE COMPANY THEY RECOMMENDED FOR INSTALLATION. PLEASED ENOUGH THAT I AM CONSIDERING G & G CONSTRUCTION FOR DRYWALL AND FLOOR REPAIRS I NEED.
