I chose Deer Park Roofing because of the ratings and reviews on Angie's List. I was told by other roofers that I needed to replace my roof, and I was getting estimates. I called to get an estimate from Deer Park Roofing too. The man came as scheduled, and he seemed knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing we didn't like were some disparaging comments he made about some of his competitor's workers. I received the estimate in a timely manner, and my wife and I drove around to look at roofs they had done in the shingle colors we thought we might use. We didn't find a shingle that we liked, and because of some other big expenses, we decided to put off replacing the roof until next year. Instead, we asked about repairing the problem area, where we had a leak. He told us what he thought needed done, and said it would cost $325, although I thought this was a rough estimate. When we were thinking of replacing the roof, he was very attentive, even eager. He called us a couple of times to see if we had made a decision, and answered all of my e-mailed questions. After we decided to just repair the roof, he was difficult to get in touch with. I left one unreturned phone message, and one unanswered e-mail. He later told me that he had been very busy, and that he had a couple of e-mails, which for some unknown reason were sent to his spam folder. That could be, but other e-mails were answered promptly. Anyway, a couple of workmen arrived as promised, but were here for only half an hour. How much of that time was spent up on the roof fixing the problem, I don't know. Maybe almost all of it. They did not let me know anything, or even tell me they were leaving. I just happened to look out to see they were gone half an hour after arriving. Yes, I did agree to the $325 cost, but I thought they would be here for more than half an hour. Since they weren't, I thought the cost was very high. I think they "fixed" some nail pops, and resealed some shingles. I didn't answer the Quality question above, because I don't know. If we stay dry, then they certainly get points for that. Lastly, I commented via e-mail on what I thought was a high cost for the amount of time they were here. An office worker replied that she was forwarding my e-mail to the appropriate person. I didn't get a response from him, so I paid the bill. In a nutshell, Nick Sabino, once he became aware of my review, called me on the telephone. We had a nice conversation, and I found him to be very professional and accommodating. He listened to my concerns, and said he would address them. His trucks have GPS units, and that confirmed that his workmen were only here for half an hour. He said he would send me a new invoice, and send my check back. He did both of those things very quickly. The new cost was fair from my point of view, and if I were able to deal with Nick Sabino directly, then I might very well use Deer Park Roofing again.
