I was very excited to have our screened in porch converted into an all seasons room and decided to hire Champion for the job.   The work crew consisted of two men.  The older gentleman seemed very knowledgeable  but his younger companion spent most of the time talking on his cell to his baby mama.  The  younger guy actually stepped on one of the window frames and bent it out of shape.  I happened to see this because I was working in the yard.  The windows looked nice at first, but we have had 2 windows replaced since. Both windows cracked.  The first replacement went fine but the second took forever.  The  repairman measured the window incorrectly and delayed the entire process.  I am not sure why this mistake was made because Champion had our window dimensions on file and  they were the ones doing the repair.   Yesterday, we were cleaning the windows and noticed that 15 of the tabs holding the screens in place are broken.  We also have at least one screen that doesn't fit  correctly.  The overall quality of the sunroom remodel is poor.  Honestly, I hardly spend any time out on our sun porch now because just looking at the windows reminds me of the entire fiasco.

They are great and I use them all the time now. They are really thorough and I have not had any problems with any of their work. They have been out here quite a few times for doing small jobs and one big job. They are reasonably priced because I can afford him. They are really easy to work with and clean up their mess. They come pretty much on time and are really pleasant to work with. They do really good work because I have never had to call them back to do redo anything though they have done quite a few jobs for me. They give me a timeframe and are always within the timeframe or they call. They are very easy, know what they are doing and go right to work. They explain what they are doing and if there are any issues they talk about them before they do something. It has been a good professional experience.

I wasn't completely pleased with it. They didn't finish some work. They actually damaged a frame and tried to fill it with some makeshift filler and then re-seal the window around the frame, where the window frame attached to the wall and I wasn't really pleased with that. I thought the price was okay. The quality of the window appeared to be good. Their finish work was bad. When they pulled out the old windows they pulled some of the framework away from the wall. You would normally go in and you put a bead of caulking or something to re-seal that, they didn't do that on any of the windows that they replaced. There were couple of fittings that they tried to tell me it was because of the way the windows fit in. When they put the window trim back in it was off. It wasn't flush, it was at an angle. So they didn't fit the trim the way it was supposed to be. I had an arched window and it had a wood trim down the middle and I had that trim removed so that instead of having two panes of glass I had just one big pane of glass and when they put that they cut that wood out. I think they pulled it out actually. They filled it, instead of filling up with wood filler, they filled it with rubber caulking. So there was a fairly decent sized section may be 4 to 6 inches from where that wood was pulled out that was filled with rubber ice caulking. So I had to take two extra half days or two days of going in to work late for them to come back out and finish what should have been done on the initial job. They didn't finish what they were supposed to. In fact, there was still an open balance and I told them that I was not going to pay the balance until the job was completed. And then I haven't heard back from them. So as far as I was concerned my balance that was remaining was good enough for me to have somebody come in to finish the work. They were on time when they were supposed to be here.

Fine...although some of the caulking was a bit sloppy around the door.

They came out and gave us an estimate for 1100 per window. I thought the pricing was quite excessive.

He showed up 40 minutes late.  The presentation was informative enough, but I think the "cost savings" part was misleading.  He asked what our current monthly electric bill was, asked if we thought it would double in 15 years, and multiplied double our current bill by 15 years.  He then took 40% of this number and told us it was what we'd save by installing these windows - it came to roughly $42,000.  The quote for vinyl windows with something that looks like wood bonded to them was about $1,300 per window, which is quite a bit higher than other quotes we have received.  He told us that there was a price increase going into effect the following Saturday and urged us to put down a deposit on the spot.

One of our window handles broke and Champion honored their guarantee and replaced at no cost. We wound up buying two new screens for the windows which were also promptly ordered/installed.

I?m LIVID about youthful sales reps and installers trying to bilk or get over on our Senior Citizens.   My folks (ages 79 and 86) have done business with CHAMPION WINDOWS for almost 40 years.  Never has there been a problem with the people representing the company, that is UNTIL NOW.  During the winter, my folks noticed moisture collecting between and around some of their Champion windows in several rooms.   This spring, they called Champion and a  sales rep came out to the house and identified what windows would need to be REPLACED.  There were a total of 9 windows identified.
The installer arrived today.   GUESS WHAT ? NOT REPLACING WINDOWS .... ONLY REPLACING GLASS.   OK, my Mom asks question, ?Will that fix the problem of the windows not being ?airtight?.?   Installer replies, ?Don?t know just know what?s on the work order and that is to replace the glass.?    To me, that was his first "UNPROFESSIONAL"  and "UNACCEPTABLE' response.  So he goes about his business of replacing windows when a comment  comes up about ?GARAGE WINDOWS? being replaced.
OH NELLIE .... Mom starts to get apoplexic.  No garage windows were to be replaced;  only Bedrooms, Kitchen and Family Room windows were scheduled for replacement.   When I question the situation with the Installer, he shows me the work order he is using.  (NO ROOMS  ARE IDENTIFIED.)   His instructions mention Top, Bottom, Left and Right and window sizes.   As he points to one of the window specs, he says to me, "looking at the house from the inside, that would mean the ?left? windows go in the garage."  Completely dissatisfied with his attitude by now,  I looked at him and said, "Maybe, but I can look at the house from the outside, and the 2 Bedroom windows on the front of the house are Left and Right windows also."
I discovered he had already switched out the garage windows, so he had to remove the glass in the garage and put it back into the bedroom windows, because in his own words "the frames on the garage windows were too dirty to put on a bedroom window."  As long as I was there, he didn?t question what window replacements were appropriate.  He also managed, which I heard and saw, to CRACK one of the glass panes that was installed.  He admitted it would have to be reordered, but didn?t mention it until I got involved.  For all I know, he would have left the cracked window and not said anything.
SO ... to put it mildly,  I am extremely angry and disappointed at Champion Windows representatives right now.  When my Mom asked for a receipt stating that one installed window was cracked and would have to be reordered and installed, the gentleman was very aggressive implying my folks didn't trust him to report the broken window (which without any written statement ... which is the case now.. it's a he said they said on the broken window).  Mom was pretty angry by this time, and told him just to get out when he acted stupid about the requested receipt for the broken window.
I'm not saying all the Champion field staff are like these two who have been involved in this job, but this is a "Buyer's Beware" for Senior Citizens.  It's a shame my parents were treated as they were, with a sense of disrepect and rudeness.

They were very informative and nice about giving me the estimate.  Their pricing was reasonable but they were not the lowest bid.  They seemed very professional and knew what they were doing.  They knew that I was taking bids and were willing to deal with that.  They did a nice job and their product looked good.  They were very responsive and came right out.

We settled on Champion based largely on their overall reputation and after a very professional and convincing in-home sales presentation/demonstration.  The team showed up on time and completed the install quickly but very well and cleaned up excellently afterward.  Very happy with the results.

I thought they were very good. The crew that took out the existing windows and installed the 9 new windows were in and out the same day. The cleaned up immaculately. They are a nice fit. The windows did what the sales people said, that it would make the home better insulated and more quiet. I noticed I don't hear as much road noise compared with the prior windows. So, we're pleased with the product and we're pleased with the people who installed the product.

The salesman was very informative. He provided me with a lot of knowledge and helped me make my decision. Their price was higher than the company I chose so I didn't go with them. He was definitely right here when he said he would be.

Everyone I talked to from Champion seemed not to be too concerned about screwing up.Wrong door "no problem"...Poor condition"It cleans up real good"..Doesn't fit"we'll make it fit"And when the new door came ,it was straped to the back of the truck with no wraping or box or anything.
I guess they are use to dissatisfied customers

We really liked everything about them.  We were extremely well pleased with the fact that they communicated well.  They did an excellent job of installing and cleaning up after themselves, which is so important since I previously had an experience with a different company that left a broken glass after doing our basement windows and didn't cock the windows on the outside.  They on the other hand cleaned everything up and made it look pretty from inside and out.  The workers were just very personable and polite.  Everything about it was really a good experience. They were timely and they came at the time that they said they would since the windows had to be ordered.  It was nasty cold weather; they hung up plastic and even did the work in the cold weather, which is above and beyond.  I would have waited but they said since they said they were going to do it, they had to.  I would highly recommend them.  In fact, if I have more windows done, which I need to have done, I would use them again.  I did a lot of shopping and I used one of their discounts that they had at that time.  They had to order some sort of special windows for me and most people couldn't even figure out a way to do that.  It has made all the difference in the warmth in the room that we had the windows put in and the way the windows work is wonderful and I can flip them in and out for cleaning.

We called Champion and they sent out a salesman.  He showed us the window and did a lot of demonstations to prove the quality of the window.  We were impressed.  Then he did some measurements and came up with a price of about $26,000.  But he said they had a special running and gave us a bunch of coupons and got the price down to  a little over $15000.  Champion was the first company we had contacted for an estimate so we really had no idea of the cost except that it seemed a little high after looking at some other companies on Angies.  The windows were obviously a high quality.  We had a discussion on whether to go with them before investigating other companies, but this was a take it now or leave it at that price.  So we decided that we would go with the quality for, in the long run, what was a few thousand dollars?
We were not in a hurry so they said they would get to us when they could.  They sent a man out to check for lead paint in the window frames and sills.  He found lead paint so we had to pay about $500 more for disposal fees.  We had been warned that would be a possibility.
About a month later, they called and said they would come on a Thursday and probably need Friday to install the windows.
They arrived on time with a very large crew and set to work.  It only took them about 5 hours to complete the work.  They did a good clean-up and even had someone wash the interior of the windows before they left.  I am still enjoying just looking out the windows and opening and shutting them, something that was a real chore with the old windows.
