Three trucks arrived with the windows at 9:30 am and all 7 windows were professionally installed by 3:45pm. There were three service agents and all three were careful and courteous. We are very happy with the installation and their clean up. While the windows were pricey- they are triple paned, tinted, and seem to be providing the benefit we were looking for.
While it is too early to tell the long term benefit, we feel that we got our money's worth and the windows are guaranteed for life.
It went exactly as planned. They windows are so efficient and look great. The salesman as well as the installers were professional and prompt. They always responded to any questions. We had a problem with one screen door. It started peeling after two weeks. We called and they took the screen door back and replaced/repainted it. It was so easy to get them to fix the problem. No questions asked it was fixed.
The only negative I have (and this is somewhat minor) is that they didn't wash the windows after they installed them. They had to get scaffolding to install the windows. We have to figure out how to get the hand prints off them. (we don't own scaffolding )..Wish I would have insisted that they wash them before leaving. However, they did take lots of time cleaning the floor from the mess etc. The area was spotless when they left.
I would definitely use them again. SO GLAD WE CHOSE CHAMPION.
Learning point: Keeping out the heat (UV rays) caused a vitamin D deficiency during the winter so I had to start taking D3.
The concrete poured was sub-par. There was NO REBAR put in at all. NO seams, no edging. The concrete company did not want to go around the house instead wanted to go thru the garage, so moved all belongings of ours out of the garage, did not move back. My ex-husband and good friend had to move all back to get my daughter's car back in. Did I mention she is disabled with late stage Lyme disease and two genetic disorders? Which Champion manager on the job knew.
When the concrete was poured, - after it rained, and turns out it was not even leveled. Hole in middle of concrete. The concrete workers were not pleasant, unfriendly, did not have proper tools, borrowed some of ours. I checked Hamilton County Ohio building code rules for the concrete and yes, supposed to have rebar. At that point, started asking for a copy of the plans submitted to Hamilton County. Called Hamilton County Building Inspectors. They said they have had many problems with Champion.
Champion advertises no subcontractors with Gary Sullivan. NOT. Lie.
The concrete had to be torn up to have rebar put in - at this point Hamilton County inspectors were involved and directing they needed to see rebar before the pouring of concrete again. So, here we go, when the concrete guys came to dig out (on Dec 24th and Dec 26) the concrete - they used a Bobcat jackhammer - tore up some of my existing slab, bammed the Bobcat into a main support of my existing porch support, made a huge mess, were still inconsiderate. I have the slamming of the Bobcat into the house on video. There is no disputing anything in this writing because I took photos and videos all along the way.
If you ever hire Champion I recommend you do your homework and take photos also.
Keep in mind, my daughter is extremely bad in winter, and all of this disruption was done causing her even more pain and suffering. I did not get reimbursement from Champion for all my time spent calling Hamilton County, time to email, record, watch over the project. No official apology letter either. Just a slimy handshake from a higher up that promised to make the concrete right.
On 12-28-12 the concrete slab was poured the second time. You can imagine the total mess, as they had to dig out proper footers for the slab - all the concrete and dirt all over the place. I did ask for concrete blankets to cover the concrete and they did oblige although begrudgingly in my opinion.
It was on Jan 2nd the new concrete company had removed the plastic off the new slab - which actually looked like what my Mom has done on projects in the past (sad, a company like Champion - and my Mom has done better jobs than that). The room was finally erected and done by Jan 17th - the first day my daughter could get into the spa in the entire winter. This was an issue for us that she could not use it for so long. Don't like my kid suffering more than she has to, but yes she did, thanks Champion.
They need to get better caulkers. They are messy caulkers. Check the work when they do it, get a ladder out and look. On the positive side, the electrician that wired the room was pleasant and professional and timely. Timely is not one of Champion's personal workers high priorities. I also did not like last minute calls or people showing up in my backyard unannounced as I have dogs. And yes, they left the gate open.
I did not even get offered one single bottle of glass cleaner. I have had them back for issues, and yes, they do come back, so for that I am grateful. I have had one leak and a screen roller falling off. I have another leak that has showed up and will be calling them for that too.
Good luck.
