Description of Work: They were horrible, service was inconsistent and customer service was unresponsive to downright rude. I would go without internet service before using them again

I still have issues with running out before the 30 day allowence is used up.. If there was ANY other provider, besides dial-up, I would be using them.. It is claimed to be ""high-speed"" but in reality it is just a very fast dial-up"" that is occasionally effected by weather conditions. Does it do what it claims....mostly... Since they seem to be the ""best"" choice I have... I use them. I have to add that Hughes-net has met ALL of their obligations and provided me with continuous service for many years. My ""wants & needs"" are more than they can provide. There are a couple of other sattalite providers and after researching the topic I feel that Hughes-net is thee best for me. If DSL becomes available or cable service than they are SOL.
Description of Work: Up-graded my contract to allow more bandwidth service

THIS WAS A BAIT AND SWITCH. I HAD THE SERVICE FOR 3 DAYS. THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK. THE DAY AFTER IT IS INSTALLED, IT STOPS WORKING REPEATEDLY. THE SYSTEM LIGHT KEPT GOING OFF. THE INSTALLER TOLD ME THIS ONLY HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR. I TRIED TO CALL BUT THEY WERE EXPERIENCING HIGHER THAN NORMAL CALLS DUE TO GEN 4. I TRIED TO CANCEL THRER SERVICE AFTER 3 DAYS. IT TOOK 5 DAYS FOR MY TO GET A HOLD OF THEM. I EMAILED THEM. THEY EMAILED BACK THAT I COULD NOT CANCEL VIA EMAIL SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME WITHIN 24 HOURS. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. THIS WAS A SERVICE THAT THEY INITIAL TOLD ME THERE WAS A 15 GB CAP. AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED, THE GUY THAT INSTALLED IT, SHOWED ME HOW TO SEE HOW MUCH DATA CAP I USED. THIS IS WHEN I FOUND OUT I HAD 5 GB DURINGF THE DAY AND THE OTHER 10 GB WERE BRTWEEN 2AM AND 8 AM. THEY DID NOT CANCEL MY SERVICE WHEN THEY TOLD ME THEY DID. THEY DID NOT CANCEL MY SERVICE SO THEY COULD "STEAL" MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. AFTER AN ADDITIONAL 3 PHONE CALLS AND ANOTHER HOUR ON THE PHONE THEY REFUNDED MOST OF THE MONEY THEY STOLD. I HAD THE WORST SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAD HAD IN THE LAST 40 YEARS.

Hughesnet customer service is not trained regarding their services. When I first signed up I was told that you do have limited download but you can send as much as you want and being a graphic designer and sending large graphic files, this was decent. Considering that this was way better than the dial up being offered in the area. What they do not tell you is that satellite service is not only capped but it is capped download and upload. This means that when you upload (send a file) or download (watch an internet movie), you can only do so much then their service either basically stops for that period. For one of their lower, $100 a month plans it is equal to two or three youtube videos. For a graphic designer who asked them point blank is it capped and I cannot have capped internet and for them to say point blank NO it is not capped - that is a straight out lie. If I were to have unlimited it would be around 500 a month. I called them and cancelled my service within the cancellation period and was supposed to get a full refund. This refund took a greater amount of 4-5 months to get plus calling them almost daily. They did not want to give it back and kept saying see our terms and conditions. Now, it is satellite service, so they had to come out and put a dish on the house. They told me that if I did not want to get charged $$$ for their equipment I had to send it back. They wanted me to climb up to the roof and take it down myself and unhook it myself, even though I am not a trained nor qualified person to do such things. They said this would be required even if I were 89 years old or pregnant. I would have to climb up or get someone to climb up and get the dish. I had to pay them to come and get their equipment. It was $200 to get it down but would have been a lot more if I kept it. I had to call all over the company, relate the story to whomever answered the phone even if it was none of their business just to get sent to the right department and that in itself was a coin toss. I eventually found the corporate number and multiple people said they would listen to the original conversation between the salesman and myself so that I could get a refund. Only one person called me back and she was a big help. She sent the tape to the management and they finally said I could have my refund which would be sent the month after because it took so long to process. Go somewhere else. If you have access to Charter - go there. They have some of the best equipment and billing is very professional.Being a large company, there are always some people you get that know or will do better than others but all in all its a very decent company.
