I spent $11000.  The work scheduled in August is going to cost me $17000.  They do very good windows, but they don’t do doors very well at all.  I had many issues with my doors, that they could never fix   They did return my money for that. I love my windows, but would not let them replace any more doors in my home. I hired them again only to finish up all the other windows in my home, so they would all match.

I called their office and an agent came to give me an estimate. The person who came to install the windows was absolutely professional. He took the measurements and did the work with his helpers. They did great work and cleaned up after themselves. They were pretty awesome. I was very impressed with them. They were pricey, but they were worth it.

They didn’t charge anything because they applied the warranty.  They were very professional and they were very generous because we are not the original owners of the house but they allowed us to use the warranty.

The salesman came out to my home and estimated the installation. They ordered several windows for me and installed them.  I later found out that I had some serious wood rot around the frame of the window  which caused my windows to be isntalled properly. I found out that it was the same cost to have the wood frames included as it was for just the windows but the salesman didn't recommend that because he made a bigger commission if the frames were not included. They also got me to do a program they were offering where I could pay the windows off in one year with no interest. I asked that it be from the date that they actually installed the windows since that couldn't take place for three more months. They agreed. Then, one year from the date I originally met with them (9 months after the installation) I was hit with a $1500 interest fee for the windows I didn't pay off for a year.  I would not recommend this company to anyone.

We spent $13000 on that service. That service did not go well because quality windows were installed improperly. They did not stand up to what their warranty claims.

They were all very expensive but very high quality. One minor issue, were they didn?t have all the parts and they came back later and took care of that. They could have been proactive about that. First thing about quality is that they are beautiful doors.

Our painter first discovered rotting of the 1999 windows in November of 2005. After a couple of phone calls to Dave Gorsline, of Gunten Corp: 800-688-6889 ext 112 (the person I was told to contact by Pella) he said they would replace them but we would need to pay the labor cost: $325 and of course the painting cost. He explained that Pella windows were guaranteed for ten years but the labor to replace them for only two years. Then in July 2009 as I was opening a window (crank) to wash it, the bottom sill split in half--my husband had to climb a ladder to the second level to get it closed. We then checked other windows and called Dave Gorsline again. Brian came out and checked the ten windows we found leaking and the others--he found 20 that were faulty. These were replaced--no labor charge this time but of course, we had to pay for painting them. Then April 2010 my painter found two more rotting. I called Dave and he said he would send someone out. John (who had installed our other windows that rotted) measured the two windows and said they would check with Pella but that we would probably have to pay for the two windows ( approx. 2' x 6') at a cost of $3100. I very politely said that was unacceptable. That is the last I heard from them--I called Dave 7/7/10 and 9/10/10 but he never returned my calls. Meanwhile, the original windows in the 1868 part of the house have never rotted and are strong and secure. Our painter was going to try to repair the windows but the wood is only good as mulch and nothing is supporting the glass any longer. There could be damage to the framing. (See pictures.) Meanwhile, I can only assume that all 89 windows will eventually rot.

This is a great company. Their product is top of the line and their customer service was unbeatable. Although we ran into some bumps in the road throughout the process they had a "fix it" mentality at no additional cost to us which is hard to find and very appreciated. The installers who contract with Pella were very professional, punctual and the quality of their work was excellent.

Our house is circa 1948, so making everything fit and work "just so" took some effort. From the door selection to the installation through the first seven months of use, we've been satisified. Our living room is warmer and our house looks terrrific! Would highly recommend.

After the initial sales consult and preliminary pricing, Pella dispatched a project manager to investigate the rotted wood and offer an estimate to include repair of this area. They provided an updated quote, which increased by nearly 30%. This was understandable considering that amount of work that had to be done to repair the framework. After the installers had the door positioned and tacked in place, I checked out the work in the basement underneath the door. To my surprise, much of the rotted wood remained, and there were holes big enough to push a grapefruit through on either side of the door where the rotted wood was. There was also an additional hole where the sill plate wasn't replaced properly, leaving a nice peep hole to the outside world. I pointed this out to the installer and noted my concern about the rodents and drafts. He said he'd take a look... and his solution: Foam... and lots of it. After it had set, there were now two foam balls the size of volleyballs at the ends of my floor joists. Since some of the finishing material was not included in the initial shipment, they had to come back a few days later. In the meantime, I had arranged for the project manager to come out and see what the initial installer had done. He was a bit surprised by the amount of foam used, stating "I certainly don't like seeing that much foam" (to the best of my recollection, it might be paraphrased a bit) and I asked for basically "Less foam, more wood." I also pointed out how one of the floor joists was no longer supported due to the lack of sill plate. He noted that this was the best they could do under the circumstances with the deck against the outside of the house, and said that they would patch some wood in on the ends and wedge some wood under the unsupported joist. In the end, the two large holes were patched much better than before, though the band board was not truly replaced outside of the width of the door itself. I removed all of the other areas that were foamed and filled them myself with hardware cloth and foam to prevent rodent intrusions. The blocks that were supposed to be supporting the joist could be easily removed; there was roughly a 1/8" gap between the bottom of the joist and the 'support' blocks. I fashioned my own replacement and drove it in place. As for the door itself, (fiberglass) the quality seems to be pretty good. It is sturdy and draft free. My only minor complaint (and this may be the case will all sliders) is that when you open and close the door, water from the outside of the stationary panel gets swept into the house and is on the inside of the moving panel. This moisture then runs down the frame to the wood base of the door... Not a big deal, but may contribute to premature failure of the wood below.

If planning to buy new windows, I recommend talking to several contractors. I learned a little bit and something different from each one. Many contractors push the vinyl window inserts, the least expensive option. I decided on full replacment Pella fiberlass windows, not because they were the least expensive by any means but because they seemed to have the best value product. Erin, the salesperson, was good to work with and very careful to make sure we both understood what we wanted and verify what we would be getting. The installation went very well. The installers were prompt, courteous, professional, cleaned up, and did an excellent job. We are happy with the process and most importantly, happy with the new windows and the door.

I am still in the process of researching it. I am taking my time because it is a big investment and I want to do the right thing. So far they have been fine but I just talked to somebody on the phone and he came out and gave me 4 quotes depending on what I wanted. It was $18,000 for 13 windows. That included a special that they were offering.

They did a good job. We had someone else install it. Our interaction with them was pretty good. We spent a couple of thousand dollars on that service. We were able to get a really good price, because they were offering a discount to architects and my husband is an architect. They are not offering a special price to architects now because I recently got my windows.

It could not have been been better. The sales representative was extremely knowledgable and helpful and tolerant of our changing our minds several times. The installation people were prompt, courteous, and totally professional. One window had been mis-measured and they re-scheduled a later time for that installation, completely working at our convenience. Communication was good throughout the process. We plan to purchase additional windows from this Pella office in the future.

We asked Pella, along with two other national window mfgr's to bid on our business. Pella came up with creative solutions to our issues that saved us money. They were low pressure, as opposed to one of the other companies. On the first day of installation, they arrived right on time, told us what to expect, and handleverything in a professional manner. The lead guy on the installation team was a little gabby, but that was fine. We're pleased with the results.

Terrible. Business must be really good in the Pella window replacement business b/c Gunton couldn't be worse from a responsiveness / customer service perspective. I had to call 3 times before I got someone to return a phone call. Once I finally got someone on the line and asked questions to determine if my Pella windows were under warranty they told me to call Pella. Then I had to schedule a service call (and pay $75 for someone just to come out and measure) which was about 3 weeks out. I had to pay $1500 up front for them to order the windows and door. The time for them to actually come out and replace the windows was over a month. Then when they came out, they determined that the door that was ordered was not the right door. The windows were fine and look good. My wife mentioned there were 2 men that installed the windows. One (the foreman/manager) was extremely rude - they just left w/o saying anything about next steps or what we could expect, etc. The other guy she mentioned was nice, polite. So they left and never bothered to call me back to tell me what the plan was to find the right door. I had to call them back a week later (I was waiting / testing to see if they were ever going to bother to reach out to me. I lost patience after a week). Now the story is that they ordered it right and that Pella discontinued / changed parts and that I would be called back the following day with the plan moving forward. That was Monday. It is now Friday. What a joke. I wonder if they will ever call me back and let alone install the right door? I couldn't be more unimpressed, disappointed and actually a little sad for them. You'd think in this economy, you'd have businesses going the extra mile to try to overachieve.

We shopped around a lot and decided that Pella had the most choices and the best qualities of everyone we saw. The glass doors arrived in only 2 and a half weeks and were installed in one day. The installler arrived right on time and did extra work (replacing siding and covering up wireing) We are very happy with our choice. They were expensive but it was worth the money for the quality.

The sales process was great, it was a long sales cycle as this was a HUGE investment for us. We talked to many, many others of similar quality and came back to Pella because of how much we liked their product and their sales person - Jason Hodge. They initally were scheduled to install in February but had to reschedule due to weather issues. We rescheduled in April and the same crew was back in April. Our crew consisted of only two guys - brothers - Chet and Monte Lambert. These guys were fantastic. They impressed me more than anyone else at Pella. They were extremly professional and trustworthy. The first day out the supervisor Steve showed up for introductions but Chet and Monte had it under control. Their work was exceptional and the windows look fantastic. Based on the price we paid for the windows I would expect the professional installation and these guys delivered. They showed up on time and knocked everything out in about 4 days. One thing I will recommend - it is a big add on cost but you should really consider the Vivid View screens. I look at it this way, we plan to be in our house for a long time so we will get our use but you can't tell we have window screens in. Air flow is great but to me, if you are going to spend $15,000 on windows you want to see them and the Vivid View screens allow you to see all of the details, in our case the window panes, from the street.
