SELBY APPLIANCE REPAIR

I called to see if they could come to do a repair on a Saturday at 5pm.
I was told "we're done for the day" even though they advertise 24/7 on here. He didn't even ask if he could come another time. Very unprofessional.

My clothes dryer stopped working mid-cycle.  I called Selby on 11/26/12 to schedule an appointment to have my dryer fixed.  Selby was able to come to my home the next day and arrived at the exact time he stated he would be at my house.  Selby and his associate were both very pleasant and courteous.   Selby was able to diagnosis the problem in a matter of minutes and, fortunately, had the replacement part for my dryer in his truck.  He made sure everything was functioning properly and explained the problem to me before leaving my home.  I would definitely use the services of this company again.

Very professional, helpful and went above and beyond the job.  Helped with a minor issue with another appliance as well.

I called Selbys Appliance to schedule repair for my 5 yr old GE dryer based on reviews from Angies list.  My husband was home at the time the repair work was done. He was very pleased with the job that was done, said Mr Selby was very knowledgeable about the appliances we have. We also had a scheduled appointment with another repair company on the same day but for an earlier time on our washer. We received a call from that company while Mr Selby was here telling us they couldn't make it, they were already extremely late.  Selbys was kind enough to look at our washer and tell what was wrong with it.  Unfortunately we couldn't have Selbys do the repair on our washer because it was under warranty and that repair will be very expensive.  Selbys was leaving as I came home from work and he took the time to tell me what was going on with our appliances also.  When the warranty runs out on our washer we will call Selbys for any repairs on both appliances from now on..Thank You Selbys

I phoned Selby and although his schedule was already booked, he made the special trip and worked longer to address my problem. Selby and his associate were wonderful to work with - friendly, caring, responsive and they did a great job in quick time.

Horrible. Rude and disorganized.

Selby promptly returned all my calls.  He gathered the information on the model and serial number and diagnosed the problem over the phone and gave me a quote.  He ordered the part and called me as soon as it arrived and was able to come out the same day.  He and a helper moved the washer and replaced the part.  He was knowledgeable, courteous, professional and very reasonably price.  I would definitely recommend Selby for major appliance repairs.

Was right on time both visits, did work in professional manner, charged consistent with what he estimated. All in all, a very professional repairmen that I would recommend to anyone in his service area. I wish he was located  in Chicago where I live permanently.

2 days before Christmas, the ignitor in our oven broke - it would not heat up. We were hosting our first Christmas for both sides of our family, and Selby was able to come out the same day - 2 days before Christmas none-the-less. He not only knew what the problem was before he showed up, but had the parts available when he arrived. He was at our house for less than 1 hour to replace the ignitor, and effectively saved our Christmas dinner! 
This was the 2nd time I have used Selby's appliance repair, and he once again did not disappoint.

Excellent service. They prompt, curteous, professional, and proficient. Very cost effective too. We will definitely use them in the future and highly recommend them to anybody that needs appliances repaired.

We bought a washer from Best Buy. When it quit working we contacted the Geek Squad for service. They did not show for their scheduled appointment. This ended our relationship with Best Buy - wonder they are closing stores.

I looked on Angies List for sppliance repair and found Selby. He was simply awesome. I will call him for all future repairs. He was prompt, professional, polite, knowledgeable, and fair with his cost.

I understand why they have an A with Angie's list.  They were prompt and professional.  They knew what the problem was just from my description.  They were in and fixed it in 15 minutes.  He then spent another 20 minutes properly placing my dryer and making sure the vent to the outside was properly secured.  This is always a tight squeeze since my washer and dryer are in a closet.  I really appreciate the manner in which they conducted themselves and the extra effort they put out.

They were excellent, and the person who came out was really a nice man. Their service was better than excellent, they were really good. They charged $75 including a spare part which they had to get.

THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!  They are welcome at my house ANY TIME, which is good because they've been here several times.

I have two ovens.  About a year ago, the ignitor in the larger oven stopped working, so I called them.  They came on time, diagnosed the problem, replaced the worn out part, explained to me what had happened and predicted that the ignition in the other oven was also going to need to be replaced, but that it still had probably a year or so of service let in it. 

BOY WERE THEY RIGHT!

About a year later (almost to the day!), it quit working. So I called Selbys, and they came out that same afternoon.  While they were here, I asked if they could look at the ice dispenser on the refrigerator.  When Mr Selby called his parts supplier, who suggested replacing the whole freezer door.  Mr Selby suggested they try instead to get a replacement module for the door,and the parts guy finally agreed.

So they'll be back out here again this week.

These guys are great -- they're polite, pleasant and professional, and they really know what they're doing.

He was very prompt.  He came to check it out and said the pump was going out.  He gave me an estimate to repair it, but he recommended that I get a new machine because it would cost about the same to repair it.  I got an Angie’s List discount and I was very pleased with his service.

Washing machine at rental property filled with water, then wouldn't spin/agitate.  Spoke with Selby on Thursday, he came out to property on Saturday. He was able to get the water drained from the machine, but then confirmed machine had a busted transmission. Informed me it would be close to $400 to fix, and at that price suggested I just look into purchasing a new one. Seemed very knowledgeable about the washing machine, and I certainly appreciate the honesty from a repair standpoint. Very fair cost for service call. I would highly recommend, and Selby will no doubt be my first call for any future appliance repair needs.

I made an appointment and was told that someone would come in the afternoon the next day.  It would cost $50 to have them come out to the house and look at my stove.  They would call before they showed up.   I waited all day and never received a call and no one showed up.

They came in and were very professional.  Got right to work and were in and out within a half an hour.  Would definitely use them again.

I called Selby to install a gasket in my refrigerator door.  The new gasket didn't even closely resemble the old one, so we were clueless as to doing it ourselves.  Selby very efficiently installed the new one and then noted that there was still a gap between the door and the main frame of the fridge.   Turns out, the refrigerator was just off balance - and we didn't really need the new gasket!  He balanced the refrigerator, which necessitated him having to take the doors off and adding some shims to get it right.  Next time, I will call Selby right away when I am having problems with an appliance.  His pricining is very reasonable and he does a great job.

Exceptionally professional job.  They had to open up the dryer including removing the drum unit to troubleshoot and then find the faulty igniter.  They showed me the defective part and provided considerable safety advice, which I was lacking.  The part had to be ordered and only took a couple of days.  Even got a $10 discount being an Angie's list subscriber.  Great service at a great price in my opinion.  No trip charges, they made two trips, the first when they found the problem, the second when the ordered part came in and they installed in.  A lot of appliance companies pad their fees with trip charges, Selby does not charge trip charges.  Total cost to replace igniter, which involved tearing the dryer apart to get at the problem, replacing the part and reassembly was only $106.70 after the Angie's list $10 off.  Igniter cost $44.50 and the labor was $65 plus taxes.  I am quite pleased and will call them again for any future appliance repair needs.

I was afraid that I would have to get a new dishwasher. Selby explained some easy things that I could do instead. He also told me the names, addresses and phone numbers of the stores that had the products I would need. He didn't make repairs that I didn't need and he didn't overcharge me. I was very happy with the service. He came at the time promised.

They arrived and immediately went to work checking out our fridge and stove, which had both stopped working in the same week.  Within an hour both were fixed.  The cost was very reasonable, and got a 10% discount for mentioning Angie's List!  Highly recommend Selby Appliance Repair.  Would definately use again and would tell friends about them.
