What was supposed to be a reassuring statement from Juli “We’ve been doing this for 40 years,” was anything but. They didn’t care about my parent’s property or me and they certainly didn’t want you asking a lot of questions. The issues began from the very first phone call for information about their services. Doreen told me it would take 10 days (without even seeing the property), to prepare the home for the estate sale- that was not true. For our first meeting at my Father’s home to discuss the details about the estate sale – Juli was late because she was given the wrong address. On the dated I chose for the estate sale, Juli told me that there would be two other sales going on. Juli was not forthcoming to say, that one of those other sales was their own showroom. I did indicate, in our initial meeting, that I wanted to do the sale at my parents’ home. However, if I had known the amount of merchandise that would be brought into the home, I would have never signed the contract. Juli was again not forthcoming, to indicate the amount of consigned properties being brought into my Father’s home. In fact, there were at least four other properties of consigned items. Doreen called me last minute, when they wanted to bring the initial merchandise from another location over to the home for the eventual estate sale. A 20’ U-Haul’s worth, which packed both sides of the garage. I told her, in the future, I needed 24 hours notice. I was called the night before by the person in charge of the initial set up of the property (10 days prior to the sale), only to be texted by Doreen extremely early the next morning to cancel the appointment. Twice I was awakened with unnecessary texts, prior to 8 AM. When they finally began the setup (three days prior), they removed the basement door for easier access. The hinge pins were never to be seen again. I told them that I would like the upstairs steps covered because I just had them cleaned. I also wanted the wood floors covered in the master bedroom. They said no problem. In the three days of set up, they walked in and out of the home never covering the steps, the floor or their feet. The upstairs steps were partially covered for the sale; the master bedroom floor was never covered. Prior to the sale, I asked Juli, that if it rained during the estate sale, would footies be provided? She said “yes”. None were provided on Saturday…and the ground was wet. After they had finally left my property I had to have the upstairs steps cleaned again, as well as the basement steps, even though they were supposedly cleaned by Pier before they left the property for the final time. I have pictures showing otherwise. They were also selling my car at the estate sale. On Tuesday, prior to the sale I texted Juli the details about the car and asked to be texted back to confirm. No reply – until after day one of the sale. I was told bids are done on Sunday by Doreen. 30 minutes later, I was told by Juli that no bids were needed on Sunday, we have a buyer now. Then we rehashed my text of 5 days earlier. During the entire estate sale on Saturday and Sunday, a mound of trash and debris remained in the garage where my car and other items were for sale. It was a nice touch, not professional at all. In the week following the estate sale, documentation really seemed to take a back seat. The person responsible for moving larger items and setup was taking cash. No management personnel were around. Things were supposedly bought in bulk. How my things were designated from other consigned items was anybody’s guess. During the moving of items, someone broke a piece off the front door. Nobody knew anything. Even a statue in the front yard disappeared. Nobody knew where that went either. The only individual who cared about the property and wore footies was the last individual who emptied the house. He too, took many nice items, as well as trash. The items included a consigned china cabinet and dining room table, and many pictures belonging to my parents, as well as other items remaining in the garage. He used two dump trucks filled to the max. How my dollar amount for these items was determined in the bulk purchase was anyone’s guess. The final chapter was the receipt of the check, a breakdown of the costs, an itemized donation receipt (some of which did not even belong to me) and an extremely vague Major Item List. It included a “Chair, Patio, Hutch and Furniture”. One would think that two couches, a kitchen table with leaf and chairs, a bedroom dresser, a stereo system would make the list, as well as an entertainment center. My total haul in this five week ordeal, excluding the car contract, expenses, and commission: $19. I texted Juli about this amount received. She indicated that she lost money. I have two things to say about that. She’s either less than truthful or a lousy business woman. You pick. Juli should have just said, in our initial meeting, this sale would not be beneficial to either party and I cannot sign a contract with you; but she chose to make my parents home another Pier & Company showroom. When dealing with a tragic event in your life, you expect someone with experience to help guide you. That didn’t happen! In conclusion, they made what was already a difficult situation, worse not better.

This is a liquidator. We were presented with information which lead us to believe there were antique collectors that followed their sales. Beware seller, you better be there the last day so your estate does not get sold for pennies on the dollars on the true followers of their sales. Oak tables for 20.00, Royal Daulton for $3.00. I now know where to get antique cheap!
Description of Work: This is a liquidator. There was to be a well advertised estate sale which would draw collectors from a wide area. Plus on their web site which collectors follow. Every would be appraised and tagged. On the 3 day items that did not sell would be marked down appropriately.
