Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend hiring Ferro Plumbing. The workers were experienced and careful with their work (including clean up after work completion). It was a bit hard to communicate with Mike Sr over the phone, but he was easy to understand in person. Both Mike Sr and Mike Jr were very responsive and easy to reach.

My family got a recommendation to use a plumber my dad's electrician has worked with in the past to help us convert from oil to gas. What a huge mistake that turned out to be!!! The first plumber and worker Steven and Luis didn't know the rules/regulations for Westchester and yes i was fined for their mistakes!! Thankfully they gave Mike Ferro my contact info to see if he could help my family of 4 (including my newborn daughter).

Mike explained to us in the middle of September 2012 that this really should never have been attempted so late in the year by the first plumber. It normally takes 6 months from beginning to end to have this sort of job completed by ConEd. This was repeated to me by 2 other plumbers and the building and housing dept of Yonkers confirmed. Mike was the only one willing to help and went above and beyond what we expected .( I didn't contact any other plumbers) He made the best out of a really bad situation with his positive attitude and wealth of knowledge of how things get done around here. ( Obviously because he is licensed in Westchester) He told us step by step what we needed to do to try and expedite the process but made no promises that this could be done before March 2013. Mike filed all the correct paper work right away and kept in touch with ConEd on a regular basis. ( After I would ask what is going on and he would tell me over and over that we just have to wait) He made sure we passed our inspections the first time so there were no delays. ( He knows the laws of Westchester) He was on top of the job from start to finish and thankfully our new gas boiler was turned on yesterday December 3, 2012 at a little past 10 am!! ( My family of 4 was thrilled to not be sleeping on the livingroom floor of my parents one bedroom in Queens)

I'm obviously not recommending everyone try to get ConEd to do this in less then their estimated 6 months but we are home now because Mike and his workers do excellent work! ( And I warned the district manager that my next step was to contact Andrew Cuomo and Help me Howard) I highly recommend this company! ( Mike does know what he is doing as far as being up to date with the laws)

01/24/2013 UPDATE - I did not pick this company. Now I see why they have an overall review of B. I asked that they completely take over the boiler install so now that we figured out that the auto water feeder is not functioning properly I call the plumber who was quick to say and quot;I just want to be clear I didn't install that and it wasn't on my billand quot; in other words I'll come fix it but its going to cost extra. I hung up on him because that is very shady of him in my opinion. He was supposed to have made sure the boiler was working where I wouldn't need to call the first guy back.

I will not use this company again.

02/12/2013 RESPONSE - Again. I asked Mike Jr to take over the WHOLE INSTALL and make sure the boiler is in working order. As soon as I called him he of course pointed out that that he did not install the auto water feed. Obviously that was not on his bill because he was going to charge me for something else that he SHOULD have checked when he was taking over the install.

Lets be honest here: I went to the dept of Building and Housing and had a good cry there in order to resolve my previous plumbers violations and pay fines etc. I never blamed that on Mike Jr. I was also was on top of ConEd to get them to come to the house almost every day. Even Mike said this was the fastest he saw them come out. I could have had any plumber come out and had the same result with ConEd.

All I said was I will not use this company again.

They were very polite and they stuck with the job until it was done. They were professional and did not waste time.

I identified the problem. They gave me a price. Didnt fix the problem and tried to charge me more. They tried to intimidate me in my own home. Bunch of gangsters!

It was alright. I think it was a little pricey. It was a lot more money than I thought it was going to be.

I liked them. I had an emergency, and I called them. They came right away. They did very good work. I would use them again.

The work is shoddy and fees are exorbitant. The guts of the toilet have jammed more than once. the pipes uner the kitchen sink are now leaking. The faucets he supplied which I was told would be exactly like the art deco faucets he removed -- are not art deco and they appear to be the bottom of the line. Because they immediately removed the sink in one bathroom before they knew what they were doing - some tiles were broken. the replacement tiles do not match the subway tiles that were behind the sink. My elderly neighbor has advised that she had the same experience with this character.

FIRST OF ALL, WE TRIED TO CONFIRM AN APPOINTMENT FOR AN ESTIMATE ON A SMALL LEAK, WHICH TOOK 4 PHONE CALLS JUST TO CONFIRM A TIME. BOTTOM LINE, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE $550 TO CAULK A SMALL AREA AND HANG A CURTAIN ROD WHICH TOOK ALL OF 10 MINUTES, WHILE WE WAITED FOR 2 1/2 HOURS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP WITH ANY SUPPLIES. WE NEEDED A TEMPORARY FIX FOR A LEAK.

Within 1 week of Mike's estimate, 3 men showed up to replace the system and did so in 1 day. The man in charge appeared to be thoroughly knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. They replaced everything including a new directly heated water tank, heat pumps, valves, etc. In the end I had a brand new system that supplied more than ample heat and hot water. The old system could not supply enough hot water to take a single shower before turning ice cold. When I complained in the past, I was always told that "my main water pipes were not large enough."

He is great! He is convenient, professional and knowledgeable. He shows up on time and anytime I need him. He answers his phone and comes over within an hour.

THEY GAVE ME A HIGH ESTIMATE WITH OUT COMING TO SEE THE JOB.

They sent 2 kids who knew nothing about disposals and did nothing to fix it, but charged me $125 just to come out and do nothing. Later, I got it unclogged myself with a wrench and stopped payment on the check. I called the owner to tell him, and he screamed at me. This company is appauling. Do not ever call them for anything.

The work was done properly, and he even liked our cats and said he had a cat back home like one of ours. We would probably call them in a pinch, but the price was too high. They didn't give us an estimate, so we didn't know how much it would cost.

They were a bit late, but they got the job done well.

Once again the job was done neatly. Porfirio the plumber sent over was professional and polite. They refused to honor a coupon they had sent me earlier for a discount on labor with the plea that the job took longer that they estimated. This sounded like an excuse, but I would use them again and already have asked for an estimate on a larger job.

Very positive. The plumber was prompt and efficient. It was a small problem and he fixed it quickly. A bit expensive.

The plumber and his assistant were available on the same day I called, came exactly on time, were very polite and helpful in diagnosing the problem. The plumber did not try to sell unnecessary work. We were very pleased to have received his advice.

I had confidence in their assessment and the work that they did was much needed. Our backyard has a functioning sprinkler. The leak in the living room was supposedly fixed three times in the past by another plumber and kept recurring. I feel that they were a bit expensive, but I felt they knew what they were doing. Mr. Ferro is all about "leave a check today" over and over again before the work was completed. I had to be firm with him. The three apprentices who did the actual work were quite good, courteous, and very clean. They were very responsive to my request. After they were done, the toilet was not reset properly and kept flushing automatically, they fixed it once it was brought to their attention!

They came promptly, they took care of the job. I thought it was a little pricey. They cleaned up nicely. They do give a senior discount! They replaced everything after they fixed the problem and it is working beautifully. My tenants are very satisfied!

Th circulating pump was removed and replaced with a new and smaller pump. It was still operational, but on the verge of failing. They were very punctual and courteous. The area was cleaned up after the work was complete. I have used Ferro in the past and always have been quiet satisfied with their work and promptness in responding to my calls.

IT WAS EXCELLENT AND THEY WERE GREAT. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. THE PEOPLE I WORKED WITH WERE WELL INFORMED ON THE WATER QUALITY IN THE AREA. THEY KNEW THE WATER OF THE GENERAL VICINITY WAS VERY HARD. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

OVERALL I AM HAPPY. THEY WERE A LITTLE ON THE EXPENSIVE SIDE. THEY WERE POLITE. THEY DID EVERYTHING ON SCHEDULE LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. OVERALL I WAS HAPPY. I JUST WISH THEY WERE A LITTLE LESS EXPENSIVE.

THEY WERE VERY HONEST AND DIDN'T TRY TO SELL ME ANYTHING THAT I DIDN'T NEED. THEY TOLD ME WHAT I MIGHT NEED IN THE FUTURE, BUT THEY SEEMED LIKE THEY TOLD ME THE TRUTH. THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS AN A. THEY WERE KNOWLEDGEABLE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM FOR HEATING JOBS AND PLUMBING. HEATING IS THEIR EXPERTISE.

I HAVE GENERALLY BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. I USE THEM OVER AND OVER. THERE'S AN ONGOING REPAIR. THEY COME RIGHT AWAY WHEN I CALL. THEY GENERALLY ARE GOOD ON ESTIMATES, AND THE PEOPLE ARE ALL VERY NICE.
