Great mechanics.....excellent workmanship with no leaks; fired up on second day with no issues. After they left, I was not happy with the level of cleanup, but after speaking with Mr. Ferro, he came by to see for himself and immediately sent back a crew to finish the cleanup to my (and his) satisfaction. Old world customer service combined with technical expertise makes me recommend them to anyone needing a competitive, first class boiler replacement.

Tech, Joe, arrived an hour after the 3 hour service window. He diagnosed the problem as the condenser needing cleaning and could benefit from some additional coolant. ("Borderline low," I think he said.) The cleaning consisted of spraying some - presumably antifungal - stuff on, then hosing it off. That was $180. I opted to do my other condenser, too, since he was here and recommended it. Then, after adding the coolant, he let me know that it was $100/pound, so another $200. I knew that this was a pretty lucrative little visit, since the cleaner was probably a couple of bucks and the total service call probably took 30 minutes, but I rationalized that I was supporting local small business, he seemed knowledgeable, and there was a 30 day guarantee. I had my A/C off for most of the next few weeks since it was cooler. I had had the service completed on 8/16 and I tuned the A/C back on after a couple of weeks on 9/13, discovered that it had tripped the breaker again, and called Ferro on 9/14. The answering person said that, yes, the return visit was covered by the 30 day guarantee and arranged for a return visit the following day. Joe came again, tested the capacitor, and said it was bad. Before replacing it, I asked how much the new capacitor was and reminded him that the the visit was free. Joe said that this was a new call, since he had done repairs last time. I pointed out that the repairs he had completed didn't solve the problem. He replaced the capacitor, which took about 3 minutes, then called his boss, Mike, for the price. Mike and Joe apparently agreed that this issue was best resolved by telling me that the installed part was $275. When I said that the visit was supposed to be free and asked how much the part was (and I was assuming a hefty markup would still be in there), he repeated that the service and parts were $275... and that I could pay it or he would replace the old capacitor. I agreed that this was the best way to go, he did so - which took about another 3 minutes - and left. Is there a customer service grade lower than F that we can give? (I've spared the dialog, which was civil and non-confrontational while never acknowledging even a shred of concern for customer satisfaction or the outcome I had already paid to have. The attitude was definitely "yep, I've got you, and I'll charge you whatever I feel like." As a final addendum, It turns out that the part is $48.57 on Amazon, so I ordered one.)

Provider worked diligently on all jobs. Unfortunately, the sheetrock patch is quite noticeable, and must be corrected.

I got the cell number of one of their key plumbers from my neighbor and called him.  In retrospect, I should have probably called the main office.  I had received the part from Kohler, that they advised should remedy the problem.  There is no way I could have gotten under the sink and reached the work area with my shoulder issues and basic fear of plumbing!

The man I contacted, advised that they would be out on Saturday (no extra charge).  I was up and ready bright & early.  I texted once and finally called, leaving a message around Noon.  Got a call around 1PM that they'd be there in a half hour.  The truck pulled in around 3:15; a worker and helper; not the guy I spoke with.

They were both very pleasant and working with the documentation I had got to working on the issue.  Had one set-back, but no problem.  They remedied it.  All the time remaining pleasant and positive.

Problem solved, they cleaned up and were on their way.

Other than the uncertainty of arrival, it was a very positive experience.

I'd recommend & call Ferro again.

I discovered at 5:30 pm on a weekday that I had a leak in the drain under my kitchen sink.  I immediately called a different local plumber who quickly told me to call back the next day, since it was after hours, and then they hung up before I could even respond.  Then I decided to call Ferro Plumbing, and I got an answering service person who took down my contact info,  A short while later I got a call back from the plumber, who inquired what my issue was and when I needed service  He agreed to send someone over the next morning, which was fine with me.

The following morning, a Ferro plumber and his helper showed up and fixed the issue within about 45 minutes.  They took the time for me to inspect the work after they finished and they did a real quality job with a great attitude to boot.  I'm really pleased with the service.

This is the 3rd time I've used Ferro for plumbing and I've been very happy each time. They did the repairs as discussed - in fact I thought they were only coming over to provide an estimate, but when I saw teh estimate was reasonable I asked if they could do the work right then and there and they did. They are really excellent.

Mr. Ferro was agreeable to installing the particular model shutoff valve we wanted (met all code requirements and was one of the brands he uses.) His plumbers came when he said they would, and successfully did the job. The challenge was freezing the line. They had a machine which was able to do this (a lot of other plumbers didn't) and had done a lot of recent successful line freezes to install water main shutoff valves.

The small jobs were great. They showed up on time and fixed the problems with a reasonable price. I then asked Mike Ferro for an estimate to do the bathroom over. He came on time and had good suggestions but never sent the estimate. I called him to follow up and he promised a response which never came. I will not use them for the renovation.

Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend hiring Ferro Plumbing. The workers were experienced and careful with their work (including clean up after work completion). It was a bit hard to communicate with Mike Sr over the phone, but he was easy to understand in person. Both Mike Sr and Mike Jr were very responsive and easy to reach.

My family got a recommendation to use a plumber my dad's electrician has worked with in the past to help us convert from oil to gas. What a huge mistake that turned out to be!!! The first plumber and worker Steven and Luis didn't know the rules/regulations for Westchester and yes i was fined for their mistakes!! Thankfully they gave Mike Ferro my contact info to see if he could help my family of 4 (including my newborn daughter).

Mike explained to us in the middle of September 2012 that this really should never have been attempted so late in the year by the first plumber. It normally takes 6 months from beginning to end to have this sort of job completed by ConEd. This was repeated to me by 2 other plumbers and the building and housing dept of Yonkers confirmed. Mike was the only one willing to help and went above and beyond what we expected .( I didn't contact any other plumbers) He made the best out of a really bad situation with his positive attitude and wealth of knowledge of how things get done around here. ( Obviously because he is licensed in Westchester) He told us step by step what we needed to do to try and expedite the process but made no promises that this could be done before March 2013. Mike filed all the correct paper work right away and kept in touch with ConEd on a regular basis. ( After I would ask what is going on and he would tell me over and over that we just have to wait) He made sure we passed our inspections the first time so there were no delays. ( He knows the laws of Westchester) He was on top of the job from start to finish and thankfully our new gas boiler was turned on yesterday December 3, 2012 at a little past 10 am!! ( My family of 4 was thrilled to not be sleeping on the livingroom floor of my parents one bedroom in Queens)

I'm obviously not recommending everyone try to get ConEd to do this in less then their estimated 6 months but we are home now because Mike and his workers do excellent work! ( And I warned the district manager that my next step was to contact Andrew Cuomo and Help me Howard) I highly recommend this company! ( Mike does know what he is doing as far as being up to date with the laws)

01/24/2013 UPDATE - I did not pick this company. Now I see why they have an overall review of B. I asked that they completely take over the boiler install so now that we figured out that the auto water feeder is not functioning properly I call the plumber who was quick to say and quot;I just want to be clear I didn't install that and it wasn't on my billand quot; in other words I'll come fix it but its going to cost extra. I hung up on him because that is very shady of him in my opinion. He was supposed to have made sure the boiler was working where I wouldn't need to call the first guy back.

I will not use this company again.

02/12/2013 RESPONSE - Again. I asked Mike Jr to take over the WHOLE INSTALL and make sure the boiler is in working order. As soon as I called him he of course pointed out that that he did not install the auto water feed. Obviously that was not on his bill because he was going to charge me for something else that he SHOULD have checked when he was taking over the install.

Lets be honest here: I went to the dept of Building and Housing and had a good cry there in order to resolve my previous plumbers violations and pay fines etc. I never blamed that on Mike Jr. I was also was on top of ConEd to get them to come to the house almost every day. Even Mike said this was the fastest he saw them come out. I could have had any plumber come out and had the same result with ConEd.

All I said was I will not use this company again.

I still do not know what is wrong with my boiler. Thanks.
Response from Ferro Plumbing Heating & Cooling Inc
"When i answered the phone the member accused me that the automatic water feed that I had installed had a problem. When i told her that i was not the one who supplied or installed it, she insisted that the previous unlicensed plumber had told her that it was, which is not the case. The one that was installed is not a manufacturer that we install and i also have all signed documentation to back that up. I was stating the facts because I felt that the member was trying to blame me for something that was in fact caused by someone else. Before she hung the phone up on me i was willing to stop by her home to address the situation for her but i was never given the opportunity. Also, keep in mind, that the person suggesting to her that the water feed needs to be looked at, is a unlicensed individual who installed her boiler incorrectly with multiple violations and and also caused the owner to receive fines from the local municipality. I repiped all her gas appilances in her home and completed my work in a professional and very timely fashion. I also expedited her new gas service installation which was installed by our local gas utility in a much faster time frame than usual. I reallocated my employees off of previously scheduled work to her job so that the gas could be restored to her home. In my opinion how could you determine the water feed has an issue if no one diagnosed the problem that you were having?? Secondly, if it was diagnosed by the same CLOWN that incorrectly installed your boiler why would you even think that his diagnosis is somewhat correct??????"
