The technician was very courteous. Overall my experience with Sila was great.

Waste of my time for no reason other than they don't listen to what service is being requested.

They were confident and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them for their heating and cooling. I will continue to use their services again in the future.

We got a big deal from Angie's List. They were very good. It was a good discount.

They are really very good. I decided in the end to get a heating contract for the winter and a problem occurred, they came and fixed it. They were no issues. They were on time. They were honest. They are not the cheapest, but they do a good job. I would use them again in the future.

THe first vist was covered under their special offered by Angie's. He seemed fairly thorough. Although I was curious about why I needed to replace not the regular filter, which I understood, but this neutralizing one. In any case, after a week, I received a phone call asking to make a return appointment to have this filer replaced. I asked how much it would cost and he quoted $569.00 plus tax! I was shocked. After paying about $100 for the entire maintenance, this was exhorbitant. I asked how much the filter was and he said he couldn't tell me! But it would probably take 1 to 1 1/2 hours to do the work. Since I had no history with this unit, I went ahead and made an appointment. When the serviceman arrived I made a note of the time. Twenty minutes later, he was done! Then he gave me a bill for the same quoted price! No compensation for less time... As I unhappily gave him a check and signed his work sheet with NO FINISHED TIME NOTED, I asked him to sign my copy with his START and FINISH times the I noted... a total of 20 minutes. The next day I called the company and they started a three day run-a-round! They claimed they had a work order with times for nearly 2 hours at my home in the last visit! I told them my copy had NO TIMES . I said there was no Parts and Labor broken down.. they said it was COMPANY POLICY not to give out that INFORMATION! That anyone having the SAME work DONE would be charged the SAME regardless of how long it took. SO their pricing is based on their service call lasting a long time.for them to make any money.... certainly not 20 minutes! And I was shocked they were accusing ME of LYING about how long he was here! IT was an AWFUL EXPERIENCE.. THe service guys are OK>>> but the MANAGEMENT will ONLY GIVE YOU A RUN AROUND !! AFTER THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY!!

This story may seem strange. I wrote a fairly favorable review for this company previously. I gave them an overall C rating which I think was fair because of how they handled my situation. Originally Sila was running a special for $99.00 I believe. I called them and asked if the special included cleaning the boiler and I was insured it did. When the technician came out he told me it didn't and the price would not be $99.00 but instead $265.00. I was concerned about carbon monoxide since I had just converted my oil burner to gas and the Gas Company told me I had to have the boiler cleaned, so I agreed and he did the work. About a week or two later the owner of the company called me and asked what happened. I explained and said I wasn't upset but he insisted on holding to his "Special Price" and said he would send me a check for the difference and asked me to update my review. Well that was weeks ago and till now I have not received any check at all. I have received emails with other "Special Price" but after this experience I'm considering asking for my money back from Angie's List. It seems to me that it's just another format for the old "Bait and Switch" routine. If you read the emails the "Specials" are just another way of getting their foot in the door. Not really useful as far as holding the contractors to their claims.

Eric was on time at 8 a.m., very friendly, patient, in answering questions and giving explanations. He is a nice guy.

UPDATE: After leaving my inital review I was contacted by Sila. They apologized for the communication problems and offered to come and resolve the issue at no charge. Everyone makes mistakes, the mark of a good company is one that fixes them. For me, Sila has shown there are a good company. I will defiantely use them in the future for any heating needs. Origional Post: I want to start by saying the actual people doing the work were very nice and professional. The major issue I had was with the pricing of the work. I recently purchased a home with steam heat. The radiators for this system are all very old (there are 12 of them). Half of the valves were leaking and almost all of the air vents were painted over by the previous owner and thus not working properly. I called in Sila to get a quote to replace the 12 air vents and 6 valves. The person doing the walk through (who also ended up being one of the installers) took pictures of all the radiators and check everything. I received a quote over the phone for replacing 6 valves and 12 vents. The price was good so I asked if they could email me the quote. A week later, after never receiving it I called back. They apologized, and restated the price over the phone. I said I would like to go ahead with the work, but asked that they still email me the quote (I never ended up receiving it). The work took about 2 days. On the second day I noticed they had replaced all the valves requested except 1. When I asked, I was told the quote was for 5 valves and 13 vents (which I found very confusing considering I only had 12 radiators). The workman called in to the office to figure out what had happened. He was informed it is what it is and if I want the extra valve it would cost an additional $600 (although I received no discount for being billed for an extra vent). I (as well as both the workman) thought that was completely ridiculous. Fortunately the radiator in question was in an unused room so I just shut it off and told them not to do the extra work. I would not say to avoid these guys. The workmen were professional and the work that was done was done well. I would caution to MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE QUOTE IN WRITING!

Our experience with Sila was fantastic. Michael, our business manager was friendly, prompt, helpful and dependable. He quickly gave us a quote and had a crew out to our house the next day. He checked in on the work during the day of service and spent time making sure all was going smoothly. The crew was polite, neat and friendly. I highly recommend Sila.

Our 59 year old gas furnace finally died the day after Christmas (12/26/2011), a Monday. We contacted Sila on Wednesday. We agreed to their estimate and they sent two workers (Eric and Noel) on Thursday. They arrived on Thursday morning promptly at 7:30 A.M. and told us that we would have heat by the evening, They worked throughout the day and we had heat by 6:00 P.M. We were very grateful since that day (Dec. 29) was the coldest day of the winter up to that time. They were very professional and courteous and did a great job cleaning up. We thought we might as well get central air conditioning (which we didn't have before) since we were getting a new furnace and we already had the ducts. The air conditioning certainly wasn't an emergency, however, so they came back on Tuesday of the following week to finish work on the air conditioning system. We were very pleased with the whole experience and would recommend this company to others.

They came when promised. The tech answered all my questions and even showed me how to install a new thermostat without suggesting that he should do it for a fee. He did offer me a service plan but no hard sell. It's a month later and the heater is working fine. He did not remind me to bleed the radiators, which I think they should do. Overall a good experience.

The rep that came the next day gave us a rough estimate of replacement for between $10 - 12,000. The following day a written quote for $12,600 was given. We proceeded to call other companies for quotes. We have received three other quotes currently for; $5070, 5200 and $7300. The $7300 would give us an additional water heater that was not included in Silas' quote! We are extremely disappointed with this companies high cost.

Our technician, Eric Diaz, called from nearby at the early part of the 2-hour time window in the appointment. He was polite, friendly and seemed very thorough in checking all the parts of our boiler for hot-water heat. He also recommended a part which should be replaced (at a separate time, as ours is several decades old and he would have to have the part ordered): the flame detector (millivolt thermocouple), which is a safey cut-off. Eric was neat, kept everything clean, wore booties (though that wasn't even really needed here), and explained everything he was doing and that would be needed in the future in detail.

We had an issue with one of our old AC units at the house during the heat spell. Sila A/C H came immediately to check things out and told us he can fix it or get a new one installed. I said fix it and then well see about getting a new one. It was fixed as soon as the store was opened for the special part needed on monday. We also decided to replace it and the new unit was installed in a matter of days. I would highly recommend SILA A/C Heating

The service man (Dennis), arrived on time, explained the work performed and cleaned furnace.

Tuneup/inspection was performed well. Technican explained much of what he was doing and what was going on. Cord was discovered to be damaged and broke upon removal by technican necessitating a new one, which added additional expense. Technican discovered that exhaust into chimney was backed up. Worked to clear but further chimney work needed and technican said to call someone asap. Appreciated the discovery and the help in identifying problem.

He (Juau), was on time and very courteous. Would use them again!

When I first called, I left a message that was returned promptly. I had all of my questions answered, and was able to set up an appointment about a week from then. The service technician showed up right at the beginning of the time window given for the appointment. He was polite and informative, and finished the job within an hour or so. The only thing I didn't like was they tried to sell me their yearly service agreement at the end of the appointment. But the service technician wasn't overly pushy about it. Everything else went very smoothly and I paid a very reasonable amount of money for the service. I will definitely ask them to come back next year.

Service was very detailed. It took 2 hours. The technician tried to troubleshoot a potential problem and was very thorough in checking airflow and all vents and control panels! He explained everything very well.

They are great. They are reliable and it is a good value. They seem to be very good guys. They are really terrific and very professional. They are an excellent company.

They were prompt which is unusual. The gentleman seemed knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. He was true to the price that I purchased.
