It didn't go well, they told me the discount would apply if I decided to purchase the vehicle, which I decided to do at the last minute instead of leasing. The sales manager told me I would still get the 6k off the invoice but after everything was done, they refused to give me that entire discount. They took the registration off my old vehicle and transferred the plates, at this point I was there over 3 hours and they pull this scam. The discount was now only 4200, so I threatened to walk, they came up with an additional 1k, but I still didn't get what I agreed upon. Furthermore, they charged a prep charge of 500 bucks, which I've been told is a bogus charge... Make sure before you do anything make they show you the bill of sale, which shouldn't take more than 15 mins to produce. At the end of the day, I agreed to the higher price because I really wanted the car, and no other dealer in LI had this exact vehicle.
Also, that Prep charge was explained to me as being eliminated and part of my savings, as such they didn't list it on the bill of sale. If I could do it all again, I would have told them if I'm ultimately paying for that fee by paying a higher resale price, I want it listed on the bill of sale... That was a mistake, if they tell you someone is being waved, tell them to put it in writing... The overall higher cost was about 800... I would just go to a different dealer, the place is old and I've seen nicer operations, such as westbury and east hills.
Last thought, I know the Sales Manager and the Finance Person were working the old, Good Cop Bad Cop act and I think this is a common practice in this dealership.
