James and his brother did a wonderful job, totally renovating our driveway with pavers. James gave us great ideas to help us design our newly updated front yard, everyone is envious of our new curb appeal. They were very professional, clean, and his workers were devoted to the project.

James and Troy are truly the best!  Their company did a brick patio and brick driveway for me.  Both brothers are always on site overseeing the workers.  They are very fairly priced an just do beautiful work.  I highly recommend them!!

James and Troy along with their crew did a fantastic job. They arrived on time and obviously knew what they were doing as the install went like clock work. Any issue or concerns were addressed by James immediately and I was left with a job that has my neighbors stopping and letting me know how nice it came out. I do not normally show off what I do around my house but I have taken pictures on my cell phone of before and after to show them to all that I meet. I could not be happier with how this job came out.

Was set up for an estimate on Sunday at 3pm and at 3:45 no one showed
up. I called and was told that he left his pad in other truck and forgot
about Estimate. I came home early from a appointment so meet Ronnie. He
did say he would come Monday and leave estimate. He did and I could not
read handwriting so I had to call. I have got several other estimates
and he was much higher then the others.

They were great (professional and efficient). They completed the entire job on time .They also landscaped the front yard,sod and shrubs. I recommend them highly.

I called and emailed the provider with NO response.   Did not use, and Will not ever consider in the future.

as stated he called once then I never heard from him I needed my lawn reseeded

James, Troy, and their entire crew know their business and their focus was our satisfaction.  They did great work and cleaned up up well before they left.  Their pricing is also very competitive.

James Scanapico came to my house, measured driveway and gave my a very good price. I had called two other companies and their prices were much higher (almost $5,000.) for the same job. His crew came in October and did a great job digging up the old driveway, carting it away and putting down the stone base for the new driveway while also installing the new paver apron. He told me they would return in about 3-4 weeks to  complete the asphalt job as the base had to settle and be packed down by our cars driving over the new base. Sure enough, the same crew of workers showed up, rolled over the base to really pack it down and then proceeded to put down the new asphalt. Although James said the new driveway would be about 2 - 2 1/2 inches thick, it was more like 3 inches as I could see how high the new driveway was on my belguim block border.
     What I liked about this company was that both James and his brother Troy were at the job both days to make sure all things were done correctly according to the contract. These guys really know what they are doing as all their workers were very hard working, conscientious and experienced. I think all this crew does is asphalt driveways so they are definitely experts.
     The most amazing thing was paying for the job. This company does not take a deposit or have you pay halfway through the job when the original driveway is dug up. No, James and Troy do not ask for payment until the job is done and meets your satisfaction. Now, who does that in this day and age?  
      Two people already stopped by my house to check out my new driveway  and asked who did it and could I give them the phone number of the company. I would definitely recommend this company.
     

James and his brother Troy helped me create a design for this project which was a challenge because my home had recently been lifted ten feet after Hurricane Sandy. The driveway and surrounding landscaping had been completely destroyed. James took the time to show to me multiple completed projects, as well as walking me through the building supply yard to view different products and designs.  His professionalism was unmatched. Troy, as the onsite manager, kept the work site clean and organized during the entire process. The speed and accuracy of the installations was impressive. Everything went exactly according to plan and the agreement. They took a property that was vastly overgrown and made it look look like highly groomed and maintained park. We were very pleased with the entire job. They were professional and extremely hard working.

The job went very well. Crew came early on monday; worked until dark. completed the job the following afternoon. Cleaned up completely and quietly. Spoke to the owner, James about another project. Looked out the window and saw everyone gone. Everything back in place.

Looks absolutely beautiful, complements Trex decking, really warms up the space.  Would definately use their services again.

James & Troy, offered great design tips. Very skilled and knowledgeable.  Plan your projects and it is worth the wait!

They worked hard every day, knew what they had to do and cleaned up in the end. I would highly recommend James for any paving or landscaping job. He is a man who values customer service. In fact, we're having him back for our next project -- paving the driveway. Great job guys!

How do these people stay in business?  Am I the only one with this problem with Scanapico?  I am totally disgusted with his attitude and behavior, but I'm also concerned that Angie's List only has glowing reviews with this person.  I am thinking that people write reviews about themselves for this service, and so what we read cannot be trusted. I can only hope that it isn't so.  Meanwhile, I will advise anyone not to use this liar.  

They were good. They came and did their job and were clean. The job was done great at the price that we had agreed upon which was good.

I disbelieve the good ratings on this website as James Scanapico himself told me about 2 weeks ago that he had customers yelling at him because he kept pushing dates back due to various excuses. I believe he told me that so I would feel bad for him and be easier on him when questioning him why he didnt show up when he said he would. He gave me a date in late May that the work would be done. He was very nice in the beginning and quoted me a reasonable price for a new stoop walkway retaining wall and sprinkler system. He told me the work would be done in about a month. When he didn't show as I expected him to I had to call him and most of the time he didnt answer the phone. I had to keep calling him to follow up and make sure he was coming. He gave several excuses as to why he didn't make it such as his back went out or his truck was in the shop and finally he said he never got a call from his cousin so he couldnt come outline the sprinklers like he said he was going to for the third time. So many excuses yet not one phone call to let me know why he was a no-show. I always had to call him. He finally told me he would come this past Monday or Tuesday and yet again no-show and no calls. I was fed up with his service and expressed that to him. When I asked why he never came or called he gave the excuse about his cousin. I asked him why he couldnt just call me and tell me that. I also asked him why he kept giving me the runaround and if he couldnt do the work that he just could have told me that. He kept saying he didnt take a deposit so hes not a bad guy. Clearly he doesnt take a deposit because he knows hes not going to follow through and do the work. All this time I gave him the benefit of the doubt and got nowhere. Had I gone with someone else the work would have been done already. When I confronted him that I was going to give him poor reviews on the Internet because I was so dissatisfied with the way he conducted his business he actually threatened to call my job and tell lies about me. I hung up on him when he told me that and he proceeded to call me again and again in a very harassing manner. James Scanapico is a liar he is completely unprofessional and makes empty promises. I would never recommend him or this company to anyone. Do not believe these good reviews. If you do not have a 22k job he most likely will not do the work. He will give you a great price and a date and then the runaround and lies. Contrary to one of the good reviews on this site I paid for an Angies list subscription simply to be able to share this review and my honest experience with this man. It has been nothing but disappointment and I would not want other people to be duped by him. Please check out other sites for a review of this company for example merchant circle. I deeply regret failing to read those reviews first as it seems he is known for doing this to other people. I also know now that I cannot trust all the reviews on this site either. It's a good thing the subscription was cheap.

James and crew were a pleasure to work with.  They showed up on time, worked hard throughout the day, and cleaned up very well.  We have already recommended them to friends, and plan on using them again in the future.

They came out here and they did an estimate.  I said to go ahead with the work; they never showed within a week.  I called them and then the guy said they forgot about it.  I told them to do it and they never came back again so 2 strikes were out.
