The installer (joey jr owner) was on time with a call ahead notification. The work was performed in an efficient and professional manner. Without any hesitation, I would use them again and more importantly I would recommend them to family and friends.

Our tank less water heater wasn't performing properly, i called Tumia Plumbing  and got a appointment for the next day.  i wascalled first thing to make sure we were home.  Joe arrived shortly afterword and preformed a performance check, cleaned a filter which was packed with leaves which corrected the problem.  Joe was very professional and courteous. i will use them in the future and highly recommend them.

Once again, one of the drain pipes in this old house wore through and was leaking. While it seemed better that this one wasn't in a dry walled ceiling like that last one, it was actually more difficult because it was behind the furnace in the basement and very difficult to get to. The primary reason for the cost was the extra time needed for them to disassemble the main trunk and several duct lines, and then reassemble afterwords. Did a very good job, cleaned up, and showed up sooner than I had anticipated...third time I've used Tumia, and will again.

The hot water heater in the townhouse where I live stopped working on 12/24/11. I waited until the night of 12/25/11 to contact the plumber, so as to not disrupt his holiday weekend. Rather than call during Christmas, I left an email on this company's web site to call me on the morning of 12/26, which the owner/plumber did. We arranged for him to come on the morning of 12/27. On 12/27, the owner/plumber and his helper arrived and the plumber immediately began tearing into the water heater, which he had replaced (under warranty and a $200 labor charge to me) just two years earlier.

He quickly pulled out the electronic gas valve and immediately tossed it onto the concrete floor, as water began to gush from the water heater, from the opening where the gas valve had been. Then, he unclipped what he called the and quot;VOC,and quot; a safety device, a sensor for detecting vapors, which he accidentally dropped into the puddle of water he had created. Effectively, that rendered the sensor useless for the future. That aside, the plumber had his assistant fetch a used electronic gas valve, similar to the one in my system, from their truck. That did not work either. In fact, after attempting to restart the water heater numerous times, the and quot;systemand quot; eventually locked out any further attempts. Consequently, the plumber needed to call the manufacturer, State Water Heater, on its 800-number to get a special code. He was told that he would receive that code via an email to his office. The plumber offered to return on the following day, after he had time to retrieve the email, with a new sensor and the code needed to restart the system.

As it turned out, we could not meet until two days later (12/29), through no fault of the plumber's, due to a family obligation I had on 12/28. On 12/29 he came back. To my surprise, he had a new (in the box) electronic gas valve as well as a new sensor, which he installed. By using the and quot;unlock codeand quot; from State Water Heater, my system's and quot;oldand quot; electronic gas valve and/or the new parts, he still could not get the water heater to work properly. At that point, he went to his truck for something and, on the return, stopped outside, where it had dawned on him to look at the exhaust vent coming through the basement wall. He discovered that leaves had filled the well in the ground where the vent pipe exited the basement. By clearing the leaves, the water heater turned on and fired up nicely.

So, it was likely that the gas valve and all of the other original parts of the water heater were never at fault. The system shut off because leaves had been piling up in the well (which is not covered and looks similar to a basement window well) and blocked the exhaust. The built-in safety system, apparently, worked as it was designed: It turned off the hot water heater system because the exhaust pipe, or the well it is designed to exit through, had become obstructed.

Had the owner/plumber considered that first, it's very unlikely that plumbing labor and parts would have been needed. Not being a plumber, and depenedent on the townhouse homeowners' association, which does the grounds work, I wouldn't have been knowledgeable about the exhaust pipe, the exhaust pipe well or, even less, to keep it clear of leaves. However, an experienced, qualified plumber, I am told, should have looked at this as the very first item on any list of troubleshooting remedies.

The bottom line is that Tumia Plumbing charged me for:

Needless to say, I feel taken advantage of and will not be calling Tumia Plumbing again.

I spoke to him in the morning. He said he was finishing up a job and would be over by 1pm. I waited all afternoon and he never showed and never called.

The service went smoothly and the cost was reasonable.

Tumia gave me an appointment for the next day. Plumber was on time, courteous and had all tools and equipment to do the job. The older part were difficult to remove (I had tried myself and gave up) but the plumber was able to remove them and replace them with new parts. He cleaned up the area he was working in and presented me with the bill. Very satisfied with the experience.

I ended up spending a lot more money than I anticipated because they discovered other issues. They responded immediately and made it easy for me to replace it under warrantee. I'm planning on calling them for other reasons as well.

It went great. What I like about him is that he is honest. He has been out here three times that he didn't charge anything for. He is friendly and cleans up after himself well.

Overall, I was very happy with the work done. As I said before, the cost was more than I expected. The last time Joe did some work for me was probably more than 10 years ago, and I know that prices increase every year. I would recommend Tumia to anyone living on the East side of the county; next time I may explore some options closer to home.
