By day three I had decided to get rid of him and made up a story about having to leave the state to attend to family business. He was very, very reluctant to allow this to happen. He demanded that he be allowed to finish the job even when I said it was impossible and he had been paid well over the amount he should have for only 2 days work. I had paid him Half of his fee for work that was not worth 1/4 of his fee. Most of the real work was yet to be done so I could not see why he should be paid as he was. But again, he was so insistent that he be paid more money before I left. There was no way in the world he had done $3000. dollars worth of work in that bathroom. When it was finally over and I had two other people come to look at it and give me their assessment they were shocked that he charged so much for so little work that was not completed. I had to hire another contractor who charged me to do it ALL OVER AGAIN, since Ed had done so much of the work WRONG to begin with. The new contractor even offered to go to court to stand up for me when he saw that Ed had not done a few things up to code and he would have to start all over again to get it right. Even having to take down the sheetrock to get to the electric and plumbing that had been done wrong!. But I was tired of the whole thing and just wanted to get the bathroom done. thank goodness the new contractor came in with his guys to complete the work and did a incredible job. His men were very respectful, quiet and cleaned up after themselves. Unlike Ed who had left a mess inside the house and outside the house! It was so refreshing to have some nice people around for a change, Not a scammer who took my money and refused to give a portion back even though he knew he had not done the work I deserved. Do not use these guys. He'll talk a good game but you will pay for it in the end. I'm still upset that I allowed this man to talk me into giving him the job with all sorts of promises to do the right thing no matter what, always pretending to be your best "buddy". Yeah, right.
Description of Work: I chose this contractor (Ed Verig of Dynamic Creations) because I had finished with one contractor who I really liked who did my living room, kitchen and dining room but he had to go on to another job before he could do my bathroom. Ed talks a lot and makes you think he cares and that he will make sure you are happy with everything he does for you. His price was ok, better than some others I saw, but most of all I felt guilty since I had brought him in to bid on my other jobs and turned him down to work with someone else. So I thought I should give him a chance after he had been here a few times and not gotten the other jobs . The price he gave me to do the small bathroom was $6000. Of course I had to provide the tiles, paint, vanity, tub faucets, sink, toilet and any other accessories and materials. He began on time the first day he was here, but he raised a red flag when he asked ME if I had any sheet rock screws that he could use!!! Was he kidding? He came here to redo my bathroom, that meant demolishing the existing sheetrock, put up new sheet rock and install sinks, toilets, tile paint, upgrade electric and plumbing and other bathroom work and he's asking me for screws that he did not bring. That should have told me everything right then and there. So...I found some screws to give to him and he continued the work in the bathroom with another man who played the radio loudly even though I was home early in the morning. Hey, I don't mind if you want to play your radio, not at all, BUT I would have found it more professional if you had asked first. Plus, they left rather early in the day saying they would be back tomorrow. The next day he began sheetrocking again and he pointed out certain things that concerned him about the way the walls leaned and said it might be a problem when applying the tiles.(But I learned later that that was absolutely untrue.) When ever I asked a question about what he was doing he ALWAYS avoided explanations and made me feel as if my questions were stupid and unnecessary. This went on all day. Plus the one reason I had hired him was because he seemed easy to talk to and was always good about explaining what needed to be done and how it was going to be done, BUT as soon as he began work that stopped! He no longer cared about explaining anything that I asked about and he even became short tempered when I bothered to ask. Trust me, I was not the sort of client who stood around and checked his every move. It was rare that I showed my face to ask any questions. And I learned that they were not going to be answered anyway. So why bother. He did a lot of double talk and tried to confuse the situation when he could not answer a question. It was infuriating to say the least. I could not wait to get rid of him. Too bad, he seemed nice at first.
