Contacted Built Well in August for Solar Energy installation. Sales Rep took many pictures, requested pse&g bill usage to estimate size of system and came back with a complete proposal which beat others by a few thousand dollar. The no cost proposal was very comprehensive, right down to the total kw system required. They also give you time to pay in increments of payment so you are not strapped by paying in full. Deposit of $2,000 was required. Didn't question it since they are rated AAA by BBB. They even deducted from total bill the pse&g rebate which they collect on their own. The Federal and State tax credits were shown on the worksheet estimate along with estimated real cost of system at zero after 4 years of use. Very impressive. After a few visits by Architectural and Installation crew gathering roof interior and exterior data, PSE&G installed a Net Meter, the Work permit was granted by Town of Babylon (Built Well handled all this) began early December, as expected, in the Contract. Installation crew was very professional, calling for availability each night before work day. Rails went up on roof, then junction boxes, then PV panels, wiring to Electrical Circuit breaker box completed, along with Electrical generation usage monitoring devices. The system is working as expected, incredible. Each day during daylight, the Net Meter is shown reducing the actual usage. Very Satisfied with Built Well. Dan Sabia is their President and has been out to the house a couple of times, very personable and kind.
"This customer directly contacted a former employee, only later contacting the company's number. Once company became aware of the issue, we scheduled the service call as quickly as we could, and found issue which was under manufacturers' warranty, and not a matter of 'flawed' installation. We provided the service, and as the customer said, it is fixed, all is well. Also, we absolutely apologized and continue to apologize for any delay, and rest assured this is not usual for our company."
"Thank you for the excellent review. All solar PV installations (no matter what company is designing/installing on Long Island) by their nature "start off slow" because there is a standard wait for LIPA rebates and town permits, which we must have in hand before any installations can take place. In this case, the wait was longer because of Sandy. LIPA did not issue any rebates for several weeks after Hurricane Sandy and the town stopped all non-Sandy-related construction permits for a few months, including solar permits. We are very grateful to this customer for understanding this, and for his solid review of our service. Thanks again!"
