Being that this is our first experience with home buying, we happily used Navy Federal Credit Union's RealtyPlus program which matches military families up with realtors in the area. Sandy was picked for us by Navy Federal and we set off within a few days to find some houses in our price range. We saw many, many houses and Sandy was always willing to set up more for us to see. My husband has an ever changing schedule due to the military so we were glad she was quite patient with that factor. Eventually, we found a house we liked and made an offer, only for the house to fail the septic tank inspection. Sad and disheartened, we plugged on, through open houses and scheduled showings until we found a second home we loved and made an offer. We unfortunately picked the ONE house with the worst selling agent and reluctant, hard to work with seller EVER on the face of the planet. Everything was a struggle to get this house into contract and bought. Sandy worked hard through it all, answering our 5,000 questions, our worrisome emails and dealt with our impatience with total professionalism. Even at closing when the seller called her a dirty word, Sandy kept her cool and maintained composure. She really does work for you and with you through it all. She had a really good network of home inspectors and attorneys at hand to recommend, which was extremely helpful as we are fairly new to our area.
My only complaint was that after the house went into contract, contact with her seemed to slough off some. Where we felt like total top priorities when we were in the search phase, once we went into contract and it seemed a done deal, it was often times hard to reach her. I'm not sure if that's how it always is once you go into contract but at the end, we felt she wasn't really present until closing day. Now that we've moved into the new home, we are finding a TON of little things that the seller guaranteed was in working condition but isn't and when we tried to contact our attorney or Sandy, we've had no answer in 2 weeks from either to see if there was any kind of recourse we could pursue.
All in all, a decent experience and we ended up in the house we love and fought so hard for but I have mixed feelings about the way things went after contracts were signed.
