I couldn't be any happier using stan gelber and sons. not only were they always punctual but it was like they were never even there. they work very clean and efficient. jordan who sold me this job was always on time and his quote on the project was not just a guess it was exactly right. I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone, they did exactly what they sid they were going to do in the time they said they would do it. before giving this job to gelber and sons I did my research and got a bunch of quotes and timelines on how long it would take and gelber son were the most reasonable. im very happy choosing gelber and son and would love to use there services again and already have recommended them to my brother and cousin

The owner of the company, Brien, met with us. He was punctual (as were the workers who installed our unit ) He was professional, and explained all aspects of the work to be done. Prior to stepping into our home he put booties over his shoes because he was concerned about tracking dirt into our home. He went through all the details of what to expect including where the ducts would be placed and which closets the piping would be placed. He gave us an exact price before leaving our home. The company takes care of filling out the forms to receive a rebate. Our price without the rebate was $10,850.00 This included the unit, duct and piping along with the electrician who was hired by the company. . After the rebate the price is $10.100.00. The owner was not pushy at all and helped us make an informed decision regarding the quality of the unit. We decided to purchase a high Efficiency Center Air Cleaner to be installed with the infinity 16 Air conditioner - Central air unit. I suffer from allergies and the air cleaner has been enormously helpful. The unit comes with a 10 year warranty which includes 10 year labor, 10 years parts and 10 years compressor. After the owner left my husband and I had several other questions and whenever we called the office we were treated in a courteous manner. The work was done in two days. They cleaned everything up and even took all debris with them. They explained how to use the system and were very patient while I asked them to review it with me several times. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the work. Stanly Gelber's workers were polite and professional. We are very thrilled to now have central air. My husband and I are very relieved to have found this company. The only thing we regret is not having done it sooner!

As always it went very well. I had a system installed over 10 years ago and we have never had a problem. I have since added an additional Mr. Slim unit that has really done a great job for us. Instead of a hard sell to upgrade the system and spend all kinds of money, Brian provided me a great solution, the Mr. Slim manufactured by Mitsubishi.
I think what has always made the difference with Stan Gelber and Sons is the outstanding care to make sure you have the right solution. The workmanship and staff that come to your home are professional and first rate. Stan Gelber and Sons is always professional and the price is reasonable. Quality is most important and the Gelber team has always provided my wife and me with a quality product. In addition if you have a question Brian is always available to answer it. Service is reliable and timely.
In our case my wife prefers that the service person where Shoe Guards when they walk throuh the house. With Gelber and Sons you never get a hassle, they even bring their own..

My husband and I bought our house in December, and knew we wanted to install central air before it got warm, so we got prices from a few different companies and compared everything. Brian, the owner, from Gelber and Sons explained every detail to us and even showed us where our vents would go! He then provided us with a quote for the total package, and not just a base price that we knew we'd have to add extras to. They installed our central air conditioning in 2 days in April, on days that were convenient for us (including a Saturday!) and we couldn't wait to turn it on! The workers were professional, clean (wore booties on their shoes, even though they weren't even dirty!) and didn't even leave any garbage at the curb!

We just turned on our new AC this weekend, and we're sooooo happy with it! We're so glad we decided to make the investment in our new home, and can't wait to be cool this summer! Gelber and Sons came highly recommended to us, and we will be recommending them to everyone we know!

I have used this company since moving into Plainview in 1974 for air conditioning and heating equipment, yearly maintenance and repairs when necessary. Excellent service has always been provided. Work always performed by trained professionals and with the utmost of care and attention to detail. I have never had to wait an excessive amount of time for service or emergency repairs. Appointments were made to accommodate homeowners work schedule and company has always been responsive and stood behind product and performance.

Gelber and Sons installed my heating system a while back, upon their suggestion I changed my furnace from oil to natural gas and it was the best thing I did in terms of costs savings (gas is cheaper than oil) and efficieny of the furnace (the new burner is substantially more efficient than the old gas burner so I spend less to heat my home in winter).
This year my old central air conditioning died and I naturally called Gelber and Sons for an estimate. They were on time, professional and made terrific suggestions, including putting a ductless unit in the den so I don't have t cool off the entire house when we're typically only in the den for most of the evenings. They did an amazing job, were very clean, polite and provided an all around excellent experience. I'd recommend Gelber and Sons to anyone looking for heating or air conditioning service or installations.

This is the best experience I have ever had with an AC contractor.
The owner, Brian, is very involved and is super professional. He is always ready to help and makes sure the customer is extremely satisfied and gets great value for their money.

It was very hot in the house as my old AC broken. We called Gelber and they showed up in less than one hour.
We were happy to see the new shiny Gelber truck show up in the driveway.
His team was very clean and neat. They made sure everything worked great before they left. They cleaned up after themselves and left us with a cool house and working system.
His price was fair. And his follow up was A+ .
I will use Gelber again and again. And recommend them to all .

The worst experience i have ever had with any contractor. I have many positive reviews on Angies but working with Brian was the absolute worst experience. I have waited 1 year to come back to Angies List to make this review to be certain the AC still works - that is the only good thing to come of this. The photos i provide here should tell you all you need to know but i will explain them.
1) First incident is when his lead worker Henry drills a hole from upstairs closet into the den below. His drill bit carves into the wall as shown. Now they agree only to put some spakle on it because they wont come back to sand and paint so of course i say i will take care of it. I had to buy the pint of paint the compound and do the work myself and there was no apology or reimbursment.
2) Next Henry damages the ceiling by actually ripping the sheetrock. He says he will repair it with a cheap product called White Lighting and so again isay no. I buy ceiling paint do the compund and sanding and paint myself - no apology or reimbursment offered from the owner Brian.
3) Brians nephew shows up to do the electric. Total loser took hours to figure out how to wire it up properly and didn't leave until 9pm after carving a hole in my closet the size of a tennis ball to put a thermostat wire into the attic. The wire should have been shielded but you can see its not.
4) Inside the attic you can see the they had about 20 feet extra of wire so they just wrapped it up and stuck it between some beams and of couse they didn't secure it as you can see. Look close and you can see the wires are not properly connnected and the insulation is nicked exposing the wire. My electrician wanted $250 to correct. Brian claimed i was nit-picking.
5) Brian sends someone 2 weeks later to inspect for the LIPA refund. The guy makes a crack in the bedroom ceiling. Brian insists that his guy never could do that because he never has and i didnt discover the crack for 2 days so he will not accept responsibility. Cost to fix - 300.
Ther are many good reviews for this company but i am not the only one to find that when something goes wrong
Brian will not stand up and take responsibility. He gave me a cover worth $69 to compensate - not even close to cover all the work and cost and madness i was subjected to. Dealing with Brain when things go wrong is a nightmare and i have the emails and photos to prove it. Just the worst contracting experience ever. The company response is totally not true - the vent in the photo is not one that was repositioned and the access to the attic was never an issue and has nothing to do with the shoddy work as seen in the photos - the photos speak the truth. Brian always has excuses - I have the emails to prove it.

Blower motor died on Friday night of a holiday weekend. They called back quickly after I left msg with the emergency call answering service. Told me what cost of the call out on a weekend would be upfront on the phone. Turned up as promised. Spend time fixing what they could - had to wait to Tuesday for replacement part (no one else I could find had it available either). They called me to follow up on Tuesday morning before I called them (amazing). Got the part and came out and completed repair that day.

Replaced old furnace with new gas furnace and moved A/C unit. Also removed old oil talk. They were so good! Outstanding! Left the work area just as clean as how they found it. I recommended them to my companion and they will be using this service provider as soon as they get all the permits.

Based on inspection offered 1 year service contract under which labor is included but pay for parts. Liked that the service man did not try to sell me something i did not need.

They're pretty decent; I've never had a problem with them.

Brian Gelber is a very professional, confident and knowledgeable individual. He explained everything to us and answered all our questions. We were very confident that his company would do a great job and they did.
His staff was courteous and respectful of our home, kept us informed of every step and checked for our approval. They showed up at the time they said they would and cleaned up at the end of the day. They completed the job in 2 days.

The service was fine. They were responsive and punctual. They completed the job in about a day and cleaned up well. I have no complaints with the service.

I ordered a large generator and a gas conversion. The work was not done yet. However they handled all the permitting very professionally and this company does my central AC service and has been for 20 years. They are a pleasure to work with.

The installers were very professional, and on time. They also kept things clean while they were cutting the holes through the walls. Installation took two days. During the planning phase, we were informed that we needed to upgrade our electrical service. The installer helped us get their electricians who do the final hookup to come out a few weeks before the installation and upgrade our panel (although it was an additional expense, but an expense needed regardless).
All in all, very satisfied with the quality of work.
The units are very quiet and efficient. We are also using them to supplement our oil heating, in the hopes to pay a bit less on oil.

SGand S squeezed me in on a tight schedule, came down to educate us and provide an estimate. I was delighted with Brian and the interest/willingness to help us understand the setup, the advantages/disadvantages of greater efficient systems and certain newer allergy and tech products. We already had two estimates and felt theirs was the most logical due to the immediate trust, comfort and time spent. The pricing was fair. We booked them then and there.
They even got the job started sooner than anticipated and now having used the system for a couple of months feel comfortable saying that they did an exceptional job. It is very neat, evenly cooled and their placement of vents appear logical.
The negatives: there was some miscommunication at project commencement and relocation of the upstairs already placed air handler was required. They were accomodating, redid at no additional cost to me, but this change required a ceiling patch as there was a large hole created, which due to the ceiling, required an entire sheetrock ceiling - additional outside expense of $1k.
Their cleanup was less than desired, in and out. Materials were left in the basement, attic and external that wasn't realized until later. Some dangerous, like screws pieces of trimmed metal, etc. Their electrician was very nice (and did exceptional quality work) but didn't come when initially told and came after the new system was installed and running - so we were blowing fuses for a couple days left and right. Not the end of the world, but annoying. Additionally, when the electrician did the work, unbeknownst to him as they don't check to ensure all lines are working, the master bedroom and hallway line fried/needed to be clipped. This took them two days to rectify with little to no follow up or concern from SGand S.
Calls made weren't always returned promptly. Speaking of which, I am still waiting on a price for an ionizer from when the install was performed. I even followed up about a month ago for the cost and breakdown on that. Nothing.
All in all, with something like this, you are more concerned about the big picture, IMO, and big picture, i think we chose the right company for the job. People have commented on how comfortable the house is at higher temperatures and even how meticulous they were with work as my basement and attic are unfinished so all can be seen. Cleanup and customer service can be improved.

installers arrived on time and worked for several hours installing indoor and outdoor unit and running lines. Then had to wait for electrician to hook up electric. Waited for an hour or so before electrician arrived and hooked up the electrical. Communicated well and explained reasoning for any changes for original plan and made sure I was comfortable before proceeding with work.
