Service went well. Very professional and worked to my schedule availability. A lot of troubleshooting was required to to determine repair. They finally got it right after a couple trips. Not an issue, old boiler system. They did a great job. Would use them again.

My hot water heater was spewinig water and I called Cooney that night and they walked me through shutting off the water and draining the tank. They were there the next day with a new water heater and installed it. I was thrilled with the service, promptness and professionalism of all involved. Will definitely be using them again.

I have used Cooney in the past and was happy with their service. I am a repeat customer as they had installed my Central AC originally and a new furnace this past winter plus service or maintenance calls. However, this latest experience was horrible! I had asked them to help out with moving my ductless AC unit in the master bedroom from one wall to another. I had originally called my previous sales person but was given someone else instead. He did come to the house promptly and took a look at what I needed done and a said it could be done (although not happily and with some grumbling). When he sent me the quote there was no total, just an hourly rate so I would have no way of knowing what I was going to be paying. I did contact him about this only to be told that they couldn't estimate the amount of time it would take until they were there doing the work. Because I had had such good experiences with this company in the past I stupidly agreed and signed the quote and sent it back. And then I waited, and waited and waited for them to schedule the work. Every time I called I got the same song that it hadn't been scheduled yet. Finally I was more or less told it was not being put on the schedule because they were handling other more important jobs (aka - higher dollar jobs) and I was not a priority job. This put me off immediately as I have spent a lot nof money with this company and was a multiple repeat customer. Finally I told them I would find someone else to do this job. That got their attention and finally the job was scheduled. The sales person even came to help with the install himself and made it a big point to tell me I wasn't being charged for labor of him being there. At this point it had been 2 months since I had sent back the quote approval so this wasn't very impressive to me given it took 2 months and my threatening to go somewhere else to get them to even acknowledge the job. The actual work was professional. They were polite and the job was completed in just over 4 hours. I calculated how much the hourly rate was versus the 4 hours they were there and had a general idea on the bill (plus supplies). The bill arrived and I was floored!! They made sure they got their $$ out of me. Not only was the bill not itemized but it was WAY more than I (plus everyone I have showed it to) thought it should have been. I called the company and told them I wanted an itemized bill (which I never received) and instead was connected to my sales person who again pointed out I wasn't charged for labor of him showing up and that the materials were what made the bill so high. Trust me, most of the original unit stayed where it was so it was only tubing and the cover for the piping/tubing. All in all I was completely disgusted with this whole experience. Not only does the company clearly not value multiple repeat customers (because they refused to schedule my job until all their higher dollar jobs were done) but I still believe this bill was much higher than it should have been to make up for it. Granted, it was my fault for listening and signing off on the quote without an actual dollar amount. That was extremely unprofessional of them and just stupid of me. I now have a new furnace that I will have to find a new company to service and do the bi-anual maintenance on because after this experience and seeing how little they care about their repeat customers I have no desire to use them again. Customer loyalty clearly means nothing to them. They proved that during this entire experience. I have shared my story with enough friends, neighbors and co-workers because I don't want them going through the same thing when they order their new furnace or AC this year.

The service man was excellent, at our house within the hour. He was very knowledgeable and professional. most importantly, he was very honest, as we didn't know what the problem was. We could have been told that we needed a new unit, as our's is 24 years old, and we certainly would have believed him It was just a bad wire and only cost $100. We just wanted to get through this summer season, and next spring, Cooney will be our first choice for a new unit. 100% satisfied. Saved us thousands of dollars for now.

Very professional. Arrived as scheduled, performed work, diagnosed the problem, and repaired. Not able to fix the same day due to waiting on part. Tech set up furnace so we could have hot water thru the night, and came back the next day to finish the repair.

I made this as brief as possible. It’s been a while, so while my memory is not perfect, the story is accurate and true, as I took notes and referred to my notes in writing the review.

1. I called Cooney based on Angies list ratings. I spoke to Mark who was the dispatcher. They would not come to look at my furnace unless I give them my credit card before they come. Mark said they demand payment for every job before they arrive, or while their tech is there. They don’t send you a bill unless you want to fill out a credit application. The attitude I got on the phone was one of distrust and maybe even despise of the customer.

2. Against my better judgment I gave my credit card and after two days waiting with no heat, they sent a tech out who checked the furnace and said it would only cost $200.00 to fix it. I said fine, fix it.

3. When my credit card statement came, and their invoice in the mail, they had charged me $320.76.

4. When I called about this error Mark disputed it saying that I was the one in error and I knew it was $300. After checking with the owner, the dispatcher said he would refund only $50.00. It took 18 days and two follow up calls to get that refunded.

5. Six days after Cooneys tech came, and replaced some parts, the furnace quit again with the same problem it had before they showed up the first time. I called expecting them to do what reputable companies do- I expected them to warranty their work. Mark said they don’t do that. Only the part is covered but the labor was my responsibility and Mark demanded a credit card before coming to check it on warranty. I specifically recall having the dispatcher tell me how amazing their technicians were, and how they go through every single component of the system to be certain that they won’t have to come back. As a person who believes that businesses deserve to make a profit, I understand they have to mark up the parts they sell you. I also thought they did this to compensate for the rare times when they had to replace a warranty part to cover their labor. Well, not Cooney. If you get a new part from them and it is bad even one single day later, their policy is to charge you to switch it with a good part. I would not agree to these terms had I known ahead of time but there is a lot that Mark won’t tell you when he is smoothly selling you on how great his company is.

6. After having the discussions with Mark and feeling that I was not being treated fairly I decided
to stop doing business with Cooney and called another contractor. The second contractor found the heat
anticipator setting was wrong, and the cause of my furnace problems. It just so happens to be that I had bumped the setting on the heat anticipator on the thermostat while the cover was off and I was painting (caught it with the roller handle some how). I did that in June and the problem showed up on the first call for heat on September 25th 2013. The second technician said that the parts Cooney put in were not necessary and the cause all along was the heat anticipator setting.

7. The furnace quit again a week later. I called the second Technician who came back and at no charge soldered the wires of the parts that Cooney put in, because they were wire nutted improperly and loosely.

8. I have had no problems since then which would be approximately 8 months from the time I am writing this to the time this happened. I’ve had no time to write this review until now.

9. When I expressed to Mark at Cooney that I felt they were not treating me fairly and I said I would be reviewing them on Angies list, he said that they have 40 positive reviews on there and he did not need my review and that one bad review meant nothing to him and he did not care. One issue worthy of mention is that Cooney said they spent 2 hours (verified by truck gps) at my house. My tenant who was home and actually signed the paid invoice which I have an original copy, said they were only inside for 45 minutes and she knew that because she had to leave for work. What I wonder was if the tech sat in the van in my driveway since I was not there to watch them. When I brought this to the dispatcher’s attention, he said that I was wrong. In fact, every issue I pointed out to Mark the dispatcher resulted in him telling me how he was right and I was wrong.

10. All in all Cooney took my money in the total sum of $270.00 and did not provide one single cent of value or service for me. I’m not sure how the owner of the company feels about this, as I can not verify that the dispatcher actually spoke with the owner about this issue or told the owner the truth. I felt so frustrated about this that I no longer was interested in speaking to anyone at the company. The times I asked Mark to let me talk to the owner, I was told that they were not available. So it was not worth my time to keep calling when I felt I was clearly being railroaded.

11. I had several red flags going off in dealing with Cooney, but I let the Angies list ratings over ride my better judgment; a lesson learned the hard way. I will take Angies list with a grain of salt from now on.

Cooney identified a major problem with our old furnace during a routine check. They responded promptly, explaining our options. Work started immediately. The installers were polite, neat and skilled. They made sure we had heat all during the installation. They did additional duct work very neatly. We are very pleased with the care and work provided.

Furnace blower quit one night. Called 24 hr. number for advice and was advised to shut it down completely. Service man came out the next morning and discovered that not only did the blower go, but the furnace unit had cracks in it, which he showed me on a camera he was using to inspect it with. For safety, the furnace which had lasted over 10 yrs more than its life expectancy had to be replaced. Sales rep came out and set up the next day for the beginning of the removal and installation project. In the meantime I was provided with space heaters to use. Installation took 3 days but I was very pleased that the workers were so trustworthy that I could leave them in the house alone while I went to work. I did have a couple of minor concerns--billing didn't seem to jive but it was satisfactorily explained--the heat registers seemed less than perfectly installed (I can see light in the basement through the small gaps were the duct work connects to the register)but a knowledgeable friend stated they looked right to him and that it appeared to be a standard installation these days, and since this was an emergency situation I did not have time to shop around and compare prices, but I subsequently concluded that this was a reasonable price for all that was done. All in all I would call them again mainly due to the trustworthy workers that came to the house.

I downselected to Cooneys and one other but selected the other company. Cooneys is a high competency company and it's unlikely to go wrong with them. But the other company also met my competency reqs and offered a slightly better value.

The workers were wonderful. They were very clean and put walk mats down were they would be walking through the house. The installation was done by factory trained technicians. Everything was explained to us in detail. After the job was completed they did a complete walk through with us and explained the new system to us. We are very happy to say the least with the work and the Carrier furnace that was installed in our home. There is much more to heating and cooling a home than just buying a furnace and air conditioner, we now have the correct size furnace and air flow going through our house and we feel very secure in our heating system and with Cooney for the professional job done.

I believe Cooney provides good service. However, I also believe they find ways to enhance there cost. How, by making a service call two hours when it could have been one hour. They need to go get a part that they should have with them. They charge for travel time that is questionable. I will continue to use them because I have a ten year parts guarantee until 2015. After that I will shop around.

I was very impressed with Cooney. My furnace died on Christmas morning so I woke up to a very cold house. I wasn't sure if I could get repair since it was Christmas but called Cooney and they had a repair person at my house within an hour! He did what he could for me for the day but ultimately I needed a new furnace. Since it was Christmas I couldn't get a furnace that day (obviously) but the sales person Ron called me first thing the day after and once I picked out which furnace I wanted they had someone at my house that afternoon to begin installation. It was a 1 1/2 day install and the two guys (Cooper and Anthony) that were here were great! Very professional and very friendly. They kept me informed of when they were going to do things that would impact my animals and warned me ahead of time of things about to happen so I could get my animals out of the house for their safety. Once finished, they even tried to help my neighbor and I catch a stray dog running loose in the neighborhood. I was told my Wi-Fi thermostat would take about a month or so for the new thermostat to arrive and it took less than that. Overall I was incredibly impressed with Cooney and would definitely recommend them to anyone for both emergency service, maintenance or new installs.

Installer arrived on time. To replace the old water heater with a new one took 2 hours which I thought was a respectable time. About an hour after he left, I turned on the hot water at the faucet and it was hot. I then checked the hot water heater just to see if everything looked OK. I noticed some water droplets coming off the hot water tubing. This issue was the reason the old heater started to rust. So I called up the office. They contacted the installer and he arrived about an hour later. It took him another half hour to replace the tubing and make sure that it wasn't leaking. It has not been a few days since the heater was installed and I haven't noticed any leaks. The guy who installed the unit must have apologized 5 or 6 times before he left and I certainly understand that mistakes happen, but this really should have been caught before he left the first time. As a P.S., after he left the second time, I noticed that my house was getting cold. Seems like he forgot to turn the heater back on after he shut off the gas so he could install the water heater. Again, no big thing because I knew how to turn it back on; but if I hadn't know how to do that, it would have cost me to have the heater guy come out and turn it back on.

My wife and I recently purchased a home in the Syracuse area and were aware that the heating system needed to be replaced. Since we live in Houston, Texas, we felt this must be our first priority. We checked Angie’s List and based on the reviews selected Cooney Air Condition and Heating. Prior to travelling to Syracuse I spoke with Ron Stevens at Cooney to review the options. Ron was very helpful and provided a “ballpark” estimate based on the information available.
We met Ron late October for an on-site inspection of the existing heating system and again the following afternoon at the Cooney office to review his proposal. We approved his recommendations and agreed on the start date. The installation both started and completed on schedule and the basement was left in immaculate condition. The final cost was exactly as quoted with the exception of the upgraded Internet connected Thermostats I requested.
The people at Cooney are professionals who know their business, which is comforting when you’re 2000 miles away. I would also like to compliment Rob, the installer; he is an artist with copper tubing!
