I’ve used Cooney in the past for HVAC and had good luck with them. Sadly something has changed and they have gone downhill drastically. I also had a horrible experience with them with some Air conditioning work I needed done but since I had good luck with the furnace in the past I decided to give them another try. I guess I learned my lesson and it was another big fail. They do okay if you need a quick emergency service call but trying to get them to follow up with you and schedule something not emergency is a big fail. When I spoke to him on the phone and explained what was wrong I was told I would get a call back within a couple days to get something scheduled for the following week. We discovered that several of my exterior gas lines were rusted out and had holes in them so I cannot turn on my grills or fire pit. He didn’t consider this an emergency so asked if the following week was okay. I told him it was. Now it’s a month later and I never got the call to schedule the appointment or do the work. This was the 2nd time they blew off the call and work as he was also supposed to follow up with me about installing a humidifier on my furnace and didn’t bother to call me back for that either. So now that is twice that I was promised a phone call to schedule that never happened. I learned my lesson. Cooney is one to cross off my list unfortunately.

Well called and tried to get someone to my house but the person asked if I could take pictures and send it to them instead, I did as asked and then after back and forth a 'construction tech' got on the phone and said i needed to replace my water heater and my furnace because the heating duct was not good and I could die...then when I asked more specific questions he backed off that I needed a new furnace but definitely needed a new water furnace (it was 1 year old). Never trust someone who isn't willing to come out to the house to look at your problem,

After playing a bit of phone tag (my fault...I was just not able to call or answer their return calls during my work day), I talked with a woman at their office. She said she would have the tech call me. He called within a 1/2 hour and said he was 13 miles away and could come right then! Very pleasantly surprised with that as I figured there must be 100's of calls with the heat wave. The tech, Joe, was here for about 1 - 1.5 hours. He serviced the unit and it's been working perfectly! Joe really seemed to know his stuff and knew exactly what to do! Very pleased with Cooney!

1- After hours call on Memorial Weekend. Serviceman could not fix the problem. He said a whole new part was needed and he didn't have it. Cost approx. $240. 2- Service man came on Tuesday. He said we didn't need a whole new part, just a fuse. He replaced the fuse and cleaned the coils approx: $230. (He could have fixed it on Saturday... we were without air in 90 degree weather for days) 3- Air Conditioner stopping working again a week or two later. They came after 5 p.m. Service man was there for 10 minutes. He said he cleaned the coils and fixed a wire. $139 (another after hour call). He was extremely rude because my Mom didn't have her checkbook. Almost threatening. They eventually called me for a credit card number to pay the bill. 4- Two days later, the air conditioner stopped working. Called them again. My brother was in town and handled it. He told them he expected them there to finally fix it right . This service man said that there was a wire loose and there were several wires that needed tightening. No charge this time. I still think we should have been refunded the previous money when the first guy misdiagnosed the problem and yet we had another service charge on that Tuesday. Not to mention the after hours called for $139 when obviously things were not done correctly.

No deposit. They need to come back to finish up a few things but I know they will be back soon because they want to get paid.

After meeting with them and having them come out to check my house out, he said he would call me with a quote. I waited over a week without hearing from them, then called them myself to get the quote. The quote was higher than the initial range he had given me during our initial meeting which surprising because he said the job was on the extremely easy end of the spectrum. He said that they would call me back shortly to set up the time to come install it. I waited a week and a half before calling them back and being told they'd give me a call in a few days. I then waited three weeks before calling them again. They finally gave me an appointment for the end of the week. They then blew past that appointment time (without contacting me) by several hours. I called them after a few hours to see what was going on. The installer did come later in the day and did the job. All that being said, I'm happy with the quality of the work, but boy, it was certainly a hard time getting them. I would use them again, but I would hope that they would be more responsive.

From the initial sale to completion, I was very happy with them. I evidently never and quot;completedand quot;: my Angie's List review so this is like two years later. Unlike some of the other reviews, I received a quote prior to starting the work. The quote was clearly explained to me by the sales rep and given to me in wiriting. I did not pay anything until I approved every detail of their work well after completion. They arrived on time and were professional and polite. They were not bothered that I was looking over their shoulders the whole time and they patiently explained every step of the process. They also put either runners over my floor or wore the little booties over their shoes. Now they completely removed my old a/c unit that was no longer operational and also removed my old furnace. Cooney was so quick and clean I never noticed the units gone until I saw the vacant spots. Everything was installed fast. The techs, whose individual names I cannot remember now but wish I could because they were so nice, took their time and explained every detail of the furnace and a/c unit. I bought the high-end Carrier Infinity model so it had a lot of bells and whistles including the touch screen thermostat. Since that time I have had them back for two annual inspections (which I would do anyway but they were a part of my warranty agreement) in which I received the same excellent treatment. My daughter handled the firstone and they even explained everything to her in detail. The last one in September 2014, involved a faulty gas regulator and my furnace was not firing up. They were there within 14 hours and I again, received the same courteous service. The problem was diagnosed and fixed quickly. My annual inspection was rolled into the service call so as to save me a couple dollars that I thought was nice. I would use them again if I had to and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking such service. I am a single father with two daughters and I do penny pinch but don't mind paying for quality service. That is what I got from Cooney. Buy with confidence with Cooney.

I have used Cooney in the past and was happy with their service. I am a repeat customer as they had installed my Central AC originally and a new furnace this past winter plus service or maintenance calls. However, this latest experience was horrible! I had asked them to help out with moving my ductless AC unit in the master bedroom from one wall to another. I had originally called my previous sales person but was given someone else instead. He did come to the house promptly and took a look at what I needed done and a said it could be done (although not happily and with some grumbling). When he sent me the quote there was no total, just an hourly rate so I would have no way of knowing what I was going to be paying. I did contact him about this only to be told that they couldn't estimate the amount of time it would take until they were there doing the work. Because I had had such good experiences with this company in the past I stupidly agreed and signed the quote and sent it back. And then I waited, and waited and waited for them to schedule the work. Every time I called I got the same song that it hadn't been scheduled yet. Finally I was more or less told it was not being put on the schedule because they were handling other more important jobs (aka - higher dollar jobs) and I was not a priority job. This put me off immediately as I have spent a lot nof money with this company and was a multiple repeat customer. Finally I told them I would find someone else to do this job. That got their attention and finally the job was scheduled. The sales person even came to help with the install himself and made it a big point to tell me I wasn't being charged for labor of him being there. At this point it had been 2 months since I had sent back the quote approval so this wasn't very impressive to me given it took 2 months and my threatening to go somewhere else to get them to even acknowledge the job. The actual work was professional. They were polite and the job was completed in just over 4 hours. I calculated how much the hourly rate was versus the 4 hours they were there and had a general idea on the bill (plus supplies). The bill arrived and I was floored!! They made sure they got their $$ out of me. Not only was the bill not itemized but it was WAY more than I (plus everyone I have showed it to) thought it should have been. I called the company and told them I wanted an itemized bill (which I never received) and instead was connected to my sales person who again pointed out I wasn't charged for labor of him showing up and that the materials were what made the bill so high. Trust me, most of the original unit stayed where it was so it was only tubing and the cover for the piping/tubing. All in all I was completely disgusted with this whole experience. Not only does the company clearly not value multiple repeat customers (because they refused to schedule my job until all their higher dollar jobs were done) but I still believe this bill was much higher than it should have been to make up for it. Granted, it was my fault for listening and signing off on the quote without an actual dollar amount. That was extremely unprofessional of them and just stupid of me. I now have a new furnace that I will have to find a new company to service and do the bi-anual maintenance on because after this experience and seeing how little they care about their repeat customers I have no desire to use them again. Customer loyalty clearly means nothing to them. They proved that during this entire experience. I have shared my story with enough friends, neighbors and co-workers because I don't want them going through the same thing when they order their new furnace or AC this year.

The service man was excellent, at our house within the hour. He was very knowledgeable and professional. most importantly, he was very honest, as we didn't know what the problem was. We could have been told that we needed a new unit, as our's is 24 years old, and we certainly would have believed him It was just a bad wire and only cost $100. We just wanted to get through this summer season, and next spring, Cooney will be our first choice for a new unit. 100% satisfied. Saved us thousands of dollars for now.

I made this as brief as possible. It’s been a while, so while my memory is not perfect, the story is accurate and true, as I took notes and referred to my notes in writing the review. 1. I called Cooney based on Angies list ratings. I spoke to Mark who was the dispatcher. They would not come to look at my furnace unless I give them my credit card before they come. Mark said they demand payment for every job before they arrive, or while their tech is there. They don’t send you a bill unless you want to fill out a credit application. The attitude I got on the phone was one of distrust and maybe even despise of the customer. 2. Against my better judgment I gave my credit card and after two days waiting with no heat, they sent a tech out who checked the furnace and said it would only cost $200.00 to fix it. I said fine, fix it. 3. When my credit card statement came, and their invoice in the mail, they had charged me $320.76. 4. When I called about this error Mark disputed it saying that I was the one in error and I knew it was $300. After checking with the owner, the dispatcher said he would refund only $50.00. It took 18 days and two follow up calls to get that refunded. 5. Six days after Cooneys tech came, and replaced some parts, the furnace quit again with the same problem it had before they showed up the first time. I called expecting them to do what reputable companies do- I expected them to warranty their work. Mark said they don’t do that. Only the part is covered but the labor was my responsibility and Mark demanded a credit card before coming to check it on warranty. I specifically recall having the dispatcher tell me how amazing their technicians were, and how they go through every single component of the system to be certain that they won’t have to come back. As a person who believes that businesses deserve to make a profit, I understand they have to mark up the parts they sell you. I also thought they did this to compensate for the rare times when they had to replace a warranty part to cover their labor. Well, not Cooney. If you get a new part from them and it is bad even one single day later, their policy is to charge you to switch it with a good part. I would not agree to these terms had I known ahead of time but there is a lot that Mark won’t tell you when he is smoothly selling you on how great his company is. 6. After having the discussions with Mark and feeling that I was not being treated fairly I decided to stop doing business with Cooney and called another contractor. The second contractor found the heat anticipator setting was wrong, and the cause of my furnace problems. It just so happens to be that I had bumped the setting on the heat anticipator on the thermostat while the cover was off and I was painting (caught it with the roller handle some how). I did that in June and the problem showed up on the first call for heat on September 25th 2013. The second technician said that the parts Cooney put in were not necessary and the cause all along was the heat anticipator setting. 7. The furnace quit again a week later. I called the second Technician who came back and at no charge soldered the wires of the parts that Cooney put in, because they were wire nutted improperly and loosely. 8. I have had no problems since then which would be approximately 8 months from the time I am writing this to the time this happened. I’ve had no time to write this review until now. 9. When I expressed to Mark at Cooney that I felt they were not treating me fairly and I said I would be reviewing them on Angies list, he said that they have 40 positive reviews on there and he did not need my review and that one bad review meant nothing to him and he did not care. One issue worthy of mention is that Cooney said they spent 2 hours (verified by truck gps) at my house. My tenant who was home and actually signed the paid invoice which I have an original copy, said they were only inside for 45 minutes and she knew that because she had to leave for work. What I wonder was if the tech sat in the van in my driveway since I was not there to watch them. When I brought this to the dispatcher’s attention, he said that I was wrong. In fact, every issue I pointed out to Mark the dispatcher resulted in him telling me how he was right and I was wrong. 10. All in all Cooney took my money in the total sum of $270.00 and did not provide one single cent of value or service for me. I’m not sure how the owner of the company feels about this, as I can not verify that the dispatcher actually spoke with the owner about this issue or told the owner the truth. I felt so frustrated about this that I no longer was interested in speaking to anyone at the company. The times I asked Mark to let me talk to the owner, I was told that they were not available. So it was not worth my time to keep calling when I felt I was clearly being railroaded. 11. I had several red flags going off in dealing with Cooney, but I let the Angies list ratings over ride my better judgment; a lesson learned the hard way. I will take Angies list with a grain of salt from now on.
Description of Work: They took my money and did not do anything that actually helped me. They wasted a few hours of my time on the telephone, in addition to the time it took to hire someone else. In case the owner reads this, it was invoice number 98604 on September 25, 2013.

Furnace blower quit one night. Called 24 hr. number for advice and was advised to shut it down completely. Service man came out the next morning and discovered that not only did the blower go, but the furnace unit had cracks in it, which he showed me on a camera he was using to inspect it with. For safety, the furnace which had lasted over 10 yrs more than its life expectancy had to be replaced. Sales rep came out and set up the next day for the beginning of the removal and installation project. In the meantime I was provided with space heaters to use. Installation took 3 days but I was very pleased that the workers were so trustworthy that I could leave them in the house alone while I went to work. I did have a couple of minor concerns--billing didn't seem to jive but it was satisfactorily explained--the heat registers seemed less than perfectly installed (I can see light in the basement through the small gaps were the duct work connects to the register)but a knowledgeable friend stated they looked right to him and that it appeared to be a standard installation these days, and since this was an emergency situation I did not have time to shop around and compare prices, but I subsequently concluded that this was a reasonable price for all that was done. All in all I would call them again mainly due to the trustworthy workers that came to the house.

The workers were wonderful. They were very clean and put walk mats down were they would be walking through the house. The installation was done by factory trained technicians. Everything was explained to us in detail. After the job was completed they did a complete walk through with us and explained the new system to us. We are very happy to say the least with the work and the Carrier furnace that was installed in our home. There is much more to heating and cooling a home than just buying a furnace and air conditioner, we now have the correct size furnace and air flow going through our house and we feel very secure in our heating system and with Cooney for the professional job done.
Description of Work: We had a local company put in a new high energy saving furnace on February 3rd after 5 days of the furnace now working as they said it would, we called them and had them remove the furnace. We called Cooney Air Conditioning & Heating, they came over just hours after the furnace was removed. They looked at the job and brought us heaters for the night. They came back the next morning at 8:00am to put in and new Carrier Infinity series furnace.
