Mr. Riccoboni came to the house to give an estimate in September. I'd hoped the old driveway could be repaired, but he said that was not possible. He explained how and where the old driveway had been poorly pitched so it didn't drain properly, and the Belgian block edging had been installed too high in several places. He said the best thing to do was to remove the existing asphalt driveway and re-do it right, adjusting to compensate for the Belgian blocks which would remain in place. I appreciated his taking the time to explain the work carefully and politely. He wrote out a proposal with specifications for the work and materials that would be used, and his price for the job. I had not gotten any other estimates but his price was less than we paid 8 years previously for the poorly done work.   Since he had several other jobs in progress he couldn't do the work right away but would give me a call when he was ready. He called in late October and the driveway was replaced on Oct. 31, 2011. The crew arrived at 8:00 a.m. as promised, and they were done around 2:30 p.m. The men were clearly experienced and professional and each knew exactly what to do. Mr. Riccoboni operated the backhoe and moved the hot asphalt from the large truck onto the driveway. He also operated the rolling machine that compacted the newly laid asphalt. They laid metal plates across the foot of the driveway at the low end near the street while they were working. Mr. Riccoboni explained that the soil there was high in clay and was wet and compressable. It needed to dry and solidify before it could support the asphalt. The metal plates distributed the weight of the backhoe so it wouldn't unevenly compact the wet soil. The plates were removed after asphalt was completely laid and rolled smooth. He marked off the area at the foot of the driveway with yellow caution tape, and advised us not to walk there for 3 weeks while the soil underneath dried out. My husband and I are still parking on the street as of my writing this review. I appreciated Mr. Riccoboni's explanations of how he regraded the driveway, and added extra base material where the soil was wet. The driveway looks excellent.    

Used another contractor on Angie's list

Appeared for estimate when promised,  gave written estimate, but price higher than other "A" Angie list contractor.

Mr. Riccoboni came a couple of days after I requested an estimate.  He surveyed the job and told me he would get back to me in a couple of days with the estimate.  That was the last I saw or heard from him.  Not one word.

Could not have asked for a better experience

I didn’t use them for the work but he seemed to listen to my concerns more than some of the others.  He was less dismissive of my concerns.

The work was performed in one day and was done professionally to my satisfaction on the day it was scheduled to be performed.

I could not be happier. Tim and his crew were on time, professional, and job was exceptionally done. Driveway was given a perfect pitch and grade. Rain runoff is absolutely no problem with no puddles whatsoever.

He came over last week with his team. they ripped out the old driveway. then yesterday they came back and added more gravel and sand and today they came back again and put down the asphalt and rolled it out. they did a great job

Our driveway is a semicircle and was in very poor condition. In addition to cracks and potholes, it collected water near the garage and was very steep and slippery when wet. We also wanted it widened near the front door. When Tim came to give us an estimate, he gave us other ideas about widening the driveway that would be more attractive. The paving material he uses is the same as what is used on roads, so it holds up longer and doesn't need to be sealed every year. Plus, the sealent caused my driveway to become slippery. He always arrived on time, and he and his crew were very professional. They regraded it so it no longer collects water. They did a great job.
