Dunbar Moving

A great team. The movers were on time, friendly careful, and efficient. They liked their job and they liked their boss. I'd definitely hire them again.

I've found Dunbar Moving online and, without any references, I called them and they accommodate my request immediately. I appreciate the help of Terry, the man who I spoke on the phone and arranged my service (not sure if he is the owner). Although the moving occurred on a very rainy day, the three guys that came to do the moving were terrific. They worked under the rain, but they assured that my furniture did not get wet and packed everything in the truck very quickly but carefully. These 3 guys (sorry I don't remember their names) were good listeners and took a very good care of my belongings. They dealt with a heavy treadmill that they had to take apart in order to fit into the room at the destination house. It was not easy task to do, but they managed beautifully. I am very grateful for their service and I seriously recommend this company for your moving needs. Simple, straight forward people to deal with, and a reasonable price. Thank you.

At the risk of them being so busy, ill never be able to use them again, I wanna thank with all my heart the people who moved us on August 20, 2015. Their caring, professionalism and kindness was incomparable. The pricing is fair. They are very careful of delicate items. Moving is never easy but they made the process painless. We are truly grateful. I apologize for the delay in writing this review however I have been sick.

Very well. The three movers, Mike, Carlos, and Tyler, arrived on time and handled a special project without any problems (moving a couch out through the second floor window). Very pleasant guys, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable. I was especially impressed with how they took special care with certain items, shrink-wrapping before moving them out, even though we didn't request it (at no additional cost). Highly recommended!

Everything was great.  This is the second time I have used Dunbar moving company - first time was three years ago when I moved into my house, and this time was to move some furniture from my sister's house.  In both instances the price quoted was fair, it was honored and they were even willing to throw in a couple other items if need be.  The guys were great...friendly, took the time to chat with my niece and even tried to buddy to my dog who isn't the fondest of strangers (he's a rescue).  I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to do  full move or even a smaller one.  The house was unmarked, the furniture was carefully wrapped and then setup as we asked.  These guys are a homerun!

Overall things went well. Cost was $130 / hr. We had a bit of confusion initially. It was quoted $100 / hr for two movers, or $130 / hr for 2 movers and a packer. I thought I was might still have some packing left to do, so I went with the $130 / hr. When the 3 guys showed up the morning of the move, they had no packing materials and were only there to move - no plans to pack. OK. No biggie. I went and got more packing materials and finished up packing. The guys worked hard and were fast. I almost gave a B instead of an A. They lost a support piece to my bed, and reassembled it without the piece. About 3 days after we moved, the bed partially collapsed, and when we looked, we immediately saw why. If my husband weren't handy, we would have had to buy a new bed frame. Still, they moved us with minimal fuss, and I appreciate the easy pricing structure.

Dunbar sent over a team of highly skilled, professional movers who were friendly and thorough.  They asked questions and efficiently moved the household items from our old house and into their truck.  They took a break on their drive to our new house, which we thought was fair.  They continued their professional demeanor upon arrival at our new place and just as quickly moved our items inside, being sure to ask where everything goes.  They put together our furniture that needed to be taken apart during the move.  Nothing was lost or damaged.  The cost was fair and it was a pleasure to spend a day with these guys.  Would use again and recommend them highly to others. 

At first, I thought everything had been done well and the job went fine.  However, a few weeks later, we took additional items to storage and found that one of the piles of boxes packed by Dunbar had collapsed, cascading onto the cement floor with significant glass breakage and leaking liquids.  It was a mess!
Turned out that one worker, in particular, was inexperienced at packing.  His boxes were filled only 3/4 full, with no filler added.  This left an unsupported cavity at the top of these boxes.  When put at the bottom of a stack of boxes, the unsupported cardboard pancaked, collapsing other boxes and pitching everything above onto the floor.  Further, there was very little cushioning of fragile items, and large items were put into boxes that were too small, resulting in domed tops of boxes that were difficult to stack.  It was inevitable that things would break, under these conditions.
We cleaned up the mess, discarded the broken items, and replaced & repacked some of the boxes.  However, there are many boxes that we won't have a chance to inspect until they're moved to our new house, 2,000 miles away and some months from now.  It's likely that there will be further damaged items as the packing was so unprofessional. 
Part of the problem was that the crew arrived with inadequate materials: too few boxes overall, not enough larger-sized boxes, and minimal padding materials.  Dunbar-supplied boxes were from Home Depot.  Because the box supply ran out and the crew didn't want to go get more, they also used some of my boxes that I'd purchased from U-Haul.  Those boxes were noticeably sturdier than the ones from Home Depot. 
Needless to say, I was NOT happy with the packing job, and I'll never trust my belongings to this company again.  They were good at moving things to storage--took care moving items down steps and into/out of the truck.  So, Dunbar seems to be okay for moving services.  But decidedly not for packing.  No compensation or refund of the expensive fee was offered when we let the owner know about the situation.  I guess this kind of carelessness is par for the course with this company.

They were late, but that was a scheduling fault. They were all very nice and worked hard in the heat. They were gentle with the boxes and seemed to be pretty expert at how to make a move happen smoothly.

Terry (the owner) was on time despite travelling in rush hour. He was very careful with handling the delicate dining room table and buffet. His price was right, was very efficient and would definitely recommend him

I actually had 2 moves: once out of my old house and into an almost finished gutted house and a POD, and then to empty the POD to get everything into the finished house. The guys were on time for the first move and about an hour late for the second move (wasn't a big deal, just stating a fact - I did call them to find out where they were, maybe we had the time mixed up). The guys really had their hands full in trying to get as much as possible to fit into the POD and they were very careful in their moving and wrapping. They also supplied me with wardrobe boxes (they weren't new, but they sufficed). I did have one problem that arose from one of my Dining room table being in the POD for 2 weeks: they inadvertently got tape on the surface of the table (when they were wrapping it - to hold the blanket in place) and it being really hot at the time I was storing everything in the POD the table was damaged by the tape. And this is why I now think Terry & Dunbar are the best: with no "pushback" at all, Terry had a professional refinisher come out to look at & a**** the damage. He concluded that the table top (AND the leaves) needed to be re-finished. Terry had no problem making this right for me and made all the arrangements to pick up and deliver the table back to me once it was refinished (they did a great job at it too). His customer care and service was SUPERIOR. I was SO GLAD i decided to use a mover that was small enough so that the owner came out to give me the estimate & that I was able to establish a relationship with and was big enough (& flexible enough with staff) so that I could move when I needed to at the BUSIEST moving time of the year. He can seem a bit relaxed a laid back at first, but Terry is an upstanding guy. I highly recommend him just for that.
