Gregg Mechanical installed my heating & a/c six years ago. The workers were knowledgeable and all the employees were very professional, so when I had a problem last week with my a/c I called Gregg Mechanical. MISTAKE! I called Monday morning and was informed the service call would be $150 for the first hour. I agreed and a repairman came to my house. After he arrived he informed me there was a $99 additional service charge. THIS IS BAIT AND SWITCH! Almost an hour later he said the problem was a bad pressure switch, which had to be ordered so he bypassed the switch so the a/c would work. The a/c stayed on for one hour. Another repairman was sent and told me there was no power going to the condenser. He went to the circuit breakers and told me I had a bad breaker and needed to call an electrician. I insisted on seeing the voltage meter, at this point the story changed. The breaker was okay but the previous repairman didn't put things back in the unit correctly which caused the problem. IF I LISTENED TO HIM I WOULD HAVE PAID FOR AN ELECTRICIAN WHEN ONE WASN'T NEEDED! The a/c worked for 30 minutes after he left. I called Gregg for a third time. A repairman was sent the next day who I recognized from my installation six years ago. The problem was a bad wet switch, which he placed and undid the bypass which wasn't necessary. The problem is this is no longer Greggs people coming to do the job. Unfortunately, the odds are you will get a "Home Service" repairman, who are as useful as "TEATS ON A BULL"!

NEVER SHOWED UP! I had been using Gregg for over 20 years first for my heating and then for the installation and maintenance of all my heating and a/c units.BUT since Gregg sold out to Home Serve the service is crap! It took forever to get an appointment for my A/C units which I pay good money on a yearly service contract. After many calls at last it was scheduled. NOT I was given a confirmation # and told between 8AM and Noon. At 8 AM I called the service # to see if the time window could be shorter sio I would be prepared for the service call. I was told no but I was scheduled and they would be here. At 12:15 my husband called back as they did not show nor called and he was told they were on the way. At 1;30 my husband called back and was told the appointment was rescheduled to 7/10. WHAT! No call at all. Gregg and HOME SERVE suck.....run don't walk to not use if the last company standing on Staten Island. I am dismayed that a great company turned into this hot mess....

Recently purchased a house that was serviced prior by Gregg Mechanical. Anthony from Gregg Mechanical is great. He spent the time to go over everything regarding he heating system and what to expect for the spring maintenance regarding the central air units. Would definitely recommend using Gregg Mechanical to others.

They serviced the hot water heater for about a year and said, "We're not doing it anymore." They didn't honor the contract. I paid for it and they didn't do anything. The quality of work was good, it's just that they didn't honor the contract anymore because the item was just a problem. They could have been a little bit better about it. It was more the issue of the unit that they did not install was so problematic. The fact that they didn't install the instant hot water heater and it resulted in so much issues that is why they didn't do it.

It was more than one visit because they installed it, so it took a while. They actually recommended a three stage heating and a two stage A/C unit and it saved me hundreds of dollars a month on my heating bill. They serviced me for almost two years. The installation and everything was fine.

The service I receive from this company is consistently excellent. They are responsive and professional from the answering service to the Service Manager and then to the technician that actually does the work. The techs are skilled and confident in their work and the prices quoted are fair and reasonable. The parts were available on the truck and the repair was made in about 2 hours. In my case, bleeding air out of the system was tricky and the tech took care of it with patience and skill. It is rare to find a service provider who is consistent in their work, so it must be the employee selection process. Good people make a good company.

On July 13, 2015, Gregg Mechanical replaced my old central air conditioning system with a new Lennox system. Gregg Mechanical was very knowledgable, efficient and professional. They were also very responsive when the new system needed a minor adjustment. The new central air conditioning system is working very well and I would highly recommend Gregg Mechanical for their expertise in this area as well as their professionalism.

the A/C installation went along without a hitch, the guys were polite, cleaned up after themselves and were patient with my questions. It has been just about one month and all is working nicely.
One caveat, hire your own electrician!!! I went with the Gregg Mechanical recommended guy . He arrived late, was overpriced for the work required and did not clean up after himself.
This falls under the 20/20 hindsight kind of mistake -which is why I am posting, so you can avoid the same error.
Followup: I received a phone call from Laurie to discuss Ridge Electric and assured me they were no longer using their services, and were kind enough to work with me regarding the excessive charge.
As my scoring indicates, Gregg is a company that cares about the work product and their customers

I paid Gregg Mechanical a diagnostic fee for them to tell me that we need new switches for our humidifiers and would get back to us on a price. I called twice each time they promised to get back. The second time I joked with them that I would be surprised if they responded. They did, and told me that the switches were no longer available but they could get a replacement part. I called a few more times and then gave up because winter was almost over. The hunidifer are still not working and I am out the diagnostic fee because I would have to pay someone else that fee with no guarantees. The company did a great job installing my system and maintaining it for the first several years of the service contract. When I ended my service contract because they charged me to replace filters that they did not replace them and never came back to do it they no longer were responsive. I am disappointed because they used to be such a good company.
