Dean is friendly, he was not the most expensive but not the cheapest but he never does any work himself. Drops off untrained, underpaid, unprofessional staff that don’t know what they are doing and ultimately do a poor job. The painter he brought in showed up with his wife, dripping wood stain all over newly installed floors. The brand new stair case that was installed had to be completely sanded down after said painter stained them incorrectly. Said painter ultimately walked off the job. Deans team did no prep to the walls before painting. All nails are already popping through the drywall. As far as the tile floor goes, after two years the job was just competed by another contractor after threatening litigation. We allowed dean 5 attempts to repair. He cut corners, using roofing staples to affix the wiring to the subfloor: The whole problem was that they didn’t know what they were doing so the tiles kept popping. The new contractor was able to demo the entire tile flooring are in under two days. He described it as the worst tile job he ever saw and video taped it to show his friends. The tiles popped with no binding substance adhering to their back and the entire floor tiles back up like a reverse fruit roll up. Hire Dean if you want a nice guy you end up having to sue. Otherwise, find a competent company.

Dean's Home Improvements was sub-contracted to renovate our two bathrooms by Paul Davis Of Brooklyn & Staten Island. Paul Davis was recommended to us by our Liberty Mutual adjuster to remediate after a raccoon infestation. We decided to renovate the bathrooms as much of the damage was to the walls and ceilings in these rooms and kept Paul Davis as the contractor to simplify (we thought) the process. Aside from normal delays, things were done very much out of order. For instance the taping, plastering and painting of the walls were done after the vanity, medicine cabinet, fixtures and tiling were all completed. I'm still cleaning up plaster drippings! We converted a tub into a walk in shower, however the shower plan was installed contrary to the manufacturer's suggestions, and when I pointed out that it was not pitched well and even level in some places, I was told not to worry because the tile guy would make the necessary corrections with the mastic. He didn't and now we have stagnant water in the center of the shower that must be manually "swept" towards the drain! They mis-measured installing a grab bar in the shower, had to break the newly tiled wall, remove & reset the tile & then installed the bar again, crooked, on top of the same tile he just installed two minutes ago, causing it to **** and stick out. They had to come back and redo, their redo! Ugg! In bathroom #2, the tile guy installed a "wave" pattern in certain spots along the wall, and completely botched under the sink. They came back to repair this, but made it worse! Then they blamed us! They said we touched it, that it was flat when they left! Third time they came back with their boss, I guess this was Dean, and he talked them through it, however, it looks like patchwork and is still wavy. Dean explained to us that it's not a poor tile job, our walls are cocked! I guess he forgot that he installed the cocked walls too! Overall, well meaning, albeit sloppy, sub-par workers with no concern for the craft or workmanship. Find yourself another company.
