Even though Al told us he wasn't going to available to do the work when we originally wanted it done in May, I'm really glad we decided to wait for the date had available in June rather than going with another roofer - the work took about 6 days in total, and each day Al made sure our property was completely cleaned up of any debris and that the remaining materials were neatly placed in the back.  The work itself was excellent - great workmanship, at a very good price (other estimates were way higher).  He really knows his stuff and we're very happy with the result.

Al is terrific! I choose Al on the recommendation of several of my neighbors. He did a fantastic job of replacing and matching the color and texture of siding of one side of my house which was damaged by a storm to the rest of the house. He even placed all the cable wires under the new siding. I took him up on his offer to take me up on the roof so that he should show me the damage to the roof and how the sun and wind direction affected the wear on the roofing shingles. Al does top quality work. I call him the "roof whisperer".

I called Al and left a message and he returned my call within 8 hours. Set up an appointment for him to inspect my roof. He arrived promptly and immediately got on the ladder and up on the roof. He took about 20 minutes to inspect and take pictures. When he came down he showed me what the problems were using the pictures. He said he could fix them but his schedule was filled for about a week and a half. He said that if it were an emergency he would fit it in but it was not an emergency. He spent the time to educate me on the work that needed to be done and the reason for it. His experience and knowledge was impressive that is why I decided to use him. He also showed me his license without me having to ask.

He dropped off supplies 2 days later and began work on 10/6. He worked all day 10/6 and 1/2 day 10/7. He ripped up a lot of the prior poorly done work and then laid down a Valley (center channel in semi attached homes) of rubber, reseated and cleaned  all the gutters re=shingled the edges of the roof to make sure they overlapped the gutters.

He did a great job. The way I know is that last night it rained heavily and I was not annoyed with the incessant dripping of water on my air conditioners or back deck. Having dealt with other contractors over the past 2 years working with Al was a pleasure.

He also gave a guarantee!

Al repaired a hole in the Fascia behind the gutter. When I called for an estimate he got back to me right away. He told me the best way to fix it provided a fair estimate and quickly completed the work.

I needed to close up a small hole that a squirrel made near the gutters behind the soffit, I called Al and about 30 minutes later he called me back and he was able to come to the house that same morning (10 minutes later).  When he came over he was prepared with two ladders ( I called other companies/roofers and they came and did not have a ladder with them) he climbed up to the roof located the hole and then he inspected the whole roof and he said that he found another small hole toward the back of the house at which point he ended up  fixing both holes, I then  asked him to if he can replace one of the corner trim caps which he did.
He was professional and I would use him again and recommend him to anyone who needs a roofer.

He wasn't too good, as far as I'm concerned. He was okay. But he put something in the gutters and it didn't really work. I called them 3 times. He would put one of these things and in one case, made it even worse. I thought he was honest because he told me that the way I had my gutters was good. He felt he didn't see any problems at the bottom of the gutters itself. He could have told me that I needed all new gutters and charged me more but he was honest about that. I had to wait a while, maybe about a week, when I first called him  because he said he was pretty busy because of the storm.

About a month ago ,during a heavy rainfall we experienced water seeping through the living room ceiling during A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM .It was so bad we had to put a huge bucket to catch  the water. i had never used Angie's List before but decided this was the best time to try. (I had actually joined a few months ago ). Wow ! Im glad I did . I reviewed some of the roofing contractors information on the site and left a message for four of them hoping somebody would be able to help me on a Saturday . At 8:30am the next morning Al called and I explained the situation  He promised to arrive at my house within a 1/2 hr  and he did .After hearing my problem he went up on the roof and inspected both mine and my sister in laws ( who was also having some issues ) .After  that he gave me his opinion about where he thought the problem was and offered me two possible solutions. His recommendation was the least expensive option and and turned out to be absolutely correct. I really appreciate his promptness and professionalism and highly recommend him.I intend to use his services again in the future.

They were very busy last fall, and were to schedule the project first thing this spring.  We planned for them to contact me in the middle of April.  That time came and left, so I decided I would try calling them.  Every time I called I would get the same automated message that he was busy until the middle of April.  The job itself was supposed to start in the middle of May.  Since I still had not heard from him, I decided I was going to go with a different company.  I am a busy man too, and I needed the job done.  They still have not responded to me to this day.  I left them a message stating that I was going with another company.

Al came and looked out our roof earlier in the year, after we bought our home and gave us different options for what we could do with our roof that was missing some shingles and leaking water. He said we could just replace missing shingles and tar the valley for $850 or we could do the front of the roof for $1400 or we could replace the whole roof. We got the missing shingles replaced by someone who charged $350 instead. Shingles continued to come off, so recently I contacted Al and asked him how much a new roof would cost. He said $4500. He arrives out our house and my husband wants to confirm the work he is doing and he says he is putting another layer on the roof. We let him know that we were under the impression that $4500 was for a tear off/new roof. Al said a new roof on our semi would be $10,000 (was willing to go down to $8500 +$375 for fan). But that we only have one layer, so he could just add another one (when we actually already had 2 layers and he hadn't remembered). Al insisted that he could put a 3rd layer and it would be no problem. Al said since he already started the front awning, he is going to finish it. He charged us $400 for putting on another layer of shingles on the small awning over our front door (He shouldn't have charged us anything since he didn't do that job we verbally agreed upon). We decided to join Angies list and found a roofer (Sam from A&S Roofing & Siding) who did a great job for significantly less, including tearing off the awning above the door and doing it over much nicer!
*Al did not have us sign a contract before coming out to start the job
*Al did not clarify what job he was doing for the price he gave us
*Al did not give us clarity on what needed to be done and accurate info about our roof. (he is suppose to be the professional)
*Al's prices are higher than other experienced roofers
We had heard good things about his work, so thought Al would be good, but were highly dissappointed and upset.
we would not recommend Al

He's fantastic. He did a great job on my roof. I would highly recommend Al's Roofing. He gave us a great price. We're happy. I can trust what he does. I like dealing with him. He said when he was coming and what time he was coming. His guys worked efficiently and professionally. They cleaned up. They're the only people that's ever touched my house that didn't give me any problems. He was a pleasure to deal with.

I called Al to get an estimate on my roof, to check for damage after Sandy. He was extremely responsive, and was able to stop by within  one hour to take a look. He looked at my roof as well as several of the neighbors around me, who asked him to also take a look.  He reported that I had 3 shingles missing, and wanted $100 to replace them.  He took pictures of the damage and showed it to me.  Al also took the time to explain the process of what' s involved in fixing it.
Al has 30 years of experience and works alone, because he wants to make sure that he can deliver quality work.
He came in the next day to do the work, and even, though I was not home, he did the necessary repairs, and left a bill behind the screen door.
He was a pleasure to work with, was responsive, professional, and trustful.

the day al arrived was not a good day to start our job rainy and rained the next four days.  but he set the job up so that when he could come back he would be ready to resume the job,  four days latter al arrived and started he explained he would do the roof in sections in case he had to stop for weather he completed part of the roof the first day and came back the next day to finish, he did exactly what he said nailed every shingle by hand.  he also installed  a nice piece of aluminum facia trim to the front of the house, he flashed al the spots that were necessary and also put special capping around all the roof vent pipes,  al and his helper bagged all the old material and garbage .we were very satisfied with roofing job,  he also did a fine job replacing all our gutters last july.  al is a master roofer his honesty and integrity shows... people who are reading my review please understand from my point of view i would say a good roofing job dose not come cheap however the flip side to the coin is if you go with the cheaper priced roofing quote its usually never installed right...bottom line you get what you pay$ for... i don't think you could find someone as honest and reasonable as al in this line of work..

He was really good and my money was well spent. He came and did the estimate immediately and his price was very fair. He was very professional and gave me a good quote. He charged $700 for all the work, which was really reasonable because usually the gutter cleaning alone is $125 or more. He was very good and I would definitely call him again.

Hurricane Sandy battered my roof, tearing off roof tiles thus exposing large areas to antique weather beaten shingles. Now protected by 25 year old shingles, I was concerned but knew I had time. I had spoken with Al and he would come as soon as possible. Naturally I understood, that he was working on houses that had far more serious roof damage. When reports of the impending nor'easter arrived I was alarmed. The gaps now subjected the roof to greater damage; there would be more lost shingles and water in the house.  It was a foregone conclusion that Al was busy repairing others' damaged roofs. I desperately called Al again expressing my concerns. Al agreed that something should be done soon but it may not be possible for him since he was already involved on a job. The next morning, one day before the nor'easter, Al and another gentleman arrived. Quite by luck I was on the phone with my h/o ins co. they advised me to relay to Al that he should do the bare minimum. They suggested a large plastic sheet. Luckily, I was able to explain, via Al, why that would fail. Al suggested we attach actual roof tiles (since this was an unscheduled stop, Al didn't have shingles that matched mine). They agreed. My roof is multicolored but it is sound and no harm befell us during the nor'easter.

Alan came by to give us an estimate and after some talking agreed to work the same day.  On the roof he replaced our chimney cap and repaired and cleaned our gutters along with adding a new gutter run for a water barrel we installed. He was quick and explain his process very nicely and gave us advice about future maintenance.

During Hurricane Sandy, we lost our attic fan cover which is minor to many other individuals around us.  I contacted Al to get onto his radar to see if he can come to our house and fix our fan.  As expected with the gas shortage and other issues, he promised that he will contact us when he has time and get us an attic fan.  About two weeks after Hurricane Sandy, he came by with a new fan from NJ on a Sunday and installed it in less than 2 hours. Plus he replaced two shingles that we werent aware were missing
My family is now worry-free and we can trust Alan to get the job done.

Shortly before we purchased our home, the roof was poorly installed. Al has been here several times to address a variety of leaks resulting from this shoddy workmanship. I should mention that AL DID NOT install the roof. He has corrected all of the problems that have sprung up while other roofers were unsuccessful.  Recently, a leak formed in the vicinity of the last repair. I assumed that this was a new leak. Since, at this juncture, my faith in Al's services is absolute. Any leak would have to be new. I called AL on Thursday and he was here on Saturday morning. I said that it might be time to replace the roof since we keep dealing with new leaks. Al suggested that this was our last resort considering the age of the shingles.  After an hour on the roof, he found the cause of this new leak and fixed it. Despite the fact that this was a new leak, because it was in the vicinity of the last leak, Al did not feel it was fair to charge us.
