I had my vehicle there for two weeks. I was told my engine seized. Turns out when I had it towed home, my husband charged the battery and it started. It’s obviously not seized but my money was not returned. I was told to drive it for 100 miles and he’ll give me my money back. Really? Seized engines only drive 50 miles???? I’ve been a loyal customer for years. Now I’m disgusted.

The owner is a great person, and I have known him for many years. It is a rarity to meet someone as honest and caring as him. There are a lot of older folk going here, and he treats everyone the same. I have been going here for at least 6 years. I tend to call ahead before I go, and generally never have to wait anything over 2 hours. I get the synthetic oil which is why the oil change is a little bit more expensive. They have a few employees here that are just superb as well.

I showed up without an appointment to have new tires and wheels installed on my pickup.  They got me in immediately and did a very professional job.  I'm extremely happy with the work they did and how quickly they did it.  I would definitely go there again for tires or maintenance on my  vehicles and I recommend them to anyone in the area.

I went here for the first time to have a few things on my car checked out. Anytime the air was on my car would make a nasty sound so I wanted to get that looked at and whenever it rains, my drivers side seems to take in water. I dropped my car off on a Saturday around 9:30 and didn't get a call until 3:30, after I had called to see what was going on. They told me I needed a new cooling fan, had to come back and that they drained my pipes and that should fix the water leaking. A little annoyed that it took all day to just check it out but was whatever about it. During the week, it poured for 2 days- driver's side was again taking in water. Came back the next Saturday to get the cooling fan replaced and note that the drain clearing didn't do anything for the leak. Had a lot of things to do for the day so I figured I would go in early and just wait with the car. Two and a half hours later I'm told that they have the wrong part, need to bring it over from Deer Park (30 min.) and then install (1 hr.). I have someone pick me up and figure I'll just wait until it's ready before I run all my errands. Well 3 hours later it's finally ready, but they couldn't get the new cooling fan to work either and their only reasoning as to why my driver's side might be leaking is that I need my windshield resealed (which I don't buy because the windshield was replaced over a year ago and during that year I was living in Florida, very wet and rainy down there). So at this point I've wasted two Saturday's and my car still hasn't had work done. They tell me they'll call the dealer on Monday and get me a quote on the part- never called.
They seem very competent and nice at Smithtown, and the waiting area is very nice, but that's an experience that'll make me never go back. The only plus is they didn't charge me for the tire rotation I had done. Given the multiple issues and how long everything took, I'm even questioning if in fact my cooling fan does need to be replaced.

Bob, the owner, was both pleasant & courteous. His shop took my car in within minutes of arrival & provided a professional service at a reasonable price. I'd recommend this shop without hesitation.

Smithtown Tire came highly recommended to me at least 10 years ago. They know how to run a business the and quot;rightand quot; way. They have a television, daily newspaper, coffee, wifi, and some toys for the children. Also, if you don't want to wait for your car while it's being repaired, they will drive you home and pick you up when it's ready. This is a great service, as in the past it was always a hassle to find someone to follow you there, take you home, and then back to pick up your car. I have since recommended Smithtown Tire to at least three people, and am confident that they in turn recommended them to others. They are always friendly, courteous (any random time that you call and ask, i.e., if you can bring your car in for an oil change in a few minutes, they always tell you it's not a problem, and then take your car in to do the work within 15 minutes of arrival. I am positive that they are 100% honest with their prices.

Made appointment. Care was serviced promptly and was ready at the promised time. All work performed professionally.

They provide a pretty good price and good quality. They office environment is clean; I have no complaints.

He is great. If they find something wrong, they fix it and it stays fixed. He doesn't sell me anything I don't need. He is very good and very reliable. I've been dealing with him for 30 years. Bob Buroker is the owner. I started going to him when he was a young man and now he is middle aged. He is not the cheapest or the most expensive. The price is a good value. He is very honest and very professional.

Came without appointment. Serviced promptly. I have been serviced here for 7-8 years. Always first quality.

Update: 12/28/13; follow up check up with SGT.. No leaks at all. The front alignment need some tuning done.. Completed, Two thumbs up! Very satisfied, they take care and great workmanship.. Also I had my winter tires balanced service done.. Thank you Tom and Rob for an excellent job done..

This was the first time I used them and they performed an inspection without any issues and I had my car back right away. Will be using them for the rest of my cars.

I have been going to Smithtown General Tire for 10+ years and they have always done the right job the first time. They know I prefer to do some of my own work and are more than happy to let me know what my car needs next.
I had a tranmission in my 99 windstar go bad and Bob called me with the bad news but offered me a Ford Factory remanufactured tranny with a 100,000 mile warranty. While the price was a little high for the age of the vehicle we've had it since new and use it as for work, hauling family and friends, and the occasional apartment move for the kids. It was more than worth it to make the investment as we plan to drive it for another 5 or 10 years.
They had it one week and now it works perfectly. We have driven it on a short and long trip as well as around town since picking it up and it has worked flawlessy.
I highly recommend these guys to all my friends and family and don't have to worry about hearing a bad report on anything that SGT does for them.

Just brought my other car (old-Civic), this month due to a broken exhaust pipe-b. Tom give me a quote to repair the broken exhaust and replaced it with new aftermarket parts. They have it done same day, its clean cut price and workmanship was excellent..Just
I have been going to SGT every since their shop was burnt down and rebuild.. They do a pretty good job, clean shop, and they will work with you on what parts you want to use either OEM or aftermarket and pricing are pretty good. The waiting area was comfortable with cable tv, and coffee water for refreshment. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Most not all of the mechanics are ASE certified.. They will inform you when you will have your car or they also have shuttle service local only (smithtown area). They pretty much stand behind on their work.

All service done well and in reasonable time. I was able to wait for the service. The mechanic was excellent and Bob expedited my service. I've had an excellent relationship with this business for over 30 years.

Smithtown General Tire do all car services. They are excellent. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs car service. They are very good and treat you well.

He is a local guy. The main reason I go there is that they are outstanding auto mechanics. They just do outstanding work. All the people are licensed and all that good stuff. They are the best that I have ever had. They have been outstanding on all of the mechanical work that they have done for me.
