He was here for about 10 minutes and said what it was, he asked if I wanted the new defrost system.  It was $90 for the service charge, gave him $100.  I looked online and another place told me to check the thermostat for the freezer and that did the job.  It cost me $27 when they want to charge me $450.  I called up a few days later and told them what I ended up doing.

They are very professional, nice people, and came right away. They are knowledgeable and they responded quickly. They did the job and it worked. He went to go and check on something but he came back again and he did everything you would want somebody to do. I would recommend them.

I definitely recommend them. I have service contract with me for the air conditioning and heating unit.  They also installed a water heater for me. They are very good.  I use them a lot. They have also repaired many of the appliances. I can only say good things about them. They are reliable. In the middle of winter I had some problem with the furnace and they came in the weekend and took care of it.  That was very good of them. Other companies do not come out on weekends and you can freeze to death. Their price is reasonable. I will continue to use them in the future.

I used them about six months ago.  They were very good.  I liked their punctuality and professionalism.  They were punctual to return calls.  The price of the quote seemed reasonable for the cost of the parts and their labor.  It was a fair price.     

Overall, the experience was very positive.  There was a little hiccup in the service date, however.  I had called because our airconditioning went on the blitz during a heat wave that wasn't letting up.  They gave me a Friday date and time.  When the date and time passed, I called (now Friday afternoon), and said "Where are they?"  The gal said she had us down for a completely different date, almost a week away.  I told her that couldn't be right because we were on vacation during that time, so I would never have booked it for that date.  Without a single hesitation, she rebooked me for the next available date, which was perfectly doable.  And during this whole conversation, even though I was getting a little panicky, she was extremely professional, and I felt well taken care of the whole time.  I would highly recommend this company.

Universe arrived on time, checked out the a/c unit outside and up in the attic. All went well. Very pleasant worker, went to work right away but did not rush through the inspection. Very happy with the job they did and I will use the again. Even the receptionist on the phone was very pleasant and helpful.

Condenser stopped running called Universe. Tech came out Ralphie checked freon and checked power to the unit. He then went up to where the air handler was located.  He then told me that the primary and secondary drain pans were filled with water and that the float was up and shut down the condenser.  He then stated that the secondary pan did not have any type of draining ability so for it to not do what had happened shutting down the system it needed to have a draining system installed.  He then stated that the float was just sitting in the pan and broken off of the drain connection.  The tech Ralphie was excellent and new exactly what he was doing and was correct in is diagnosis of the problem.  The issue i have is that i feel for the amount of work done and time spent  the cost was not justified.  In addition,  when i first called for service i was given a three hour window in which the tech was going to come. After three hours no tech.  I then called Universe i was told that i was in the system but for whatever reason not on the board for service.  I was then given another three hour window in the same day. Five minutes after the three hours had gone by i receive a call that the tech was on his way.  One hour later the tech arrived.  My problem is with the punctuality.  I understand that it is hard to determine how long each job will take however, the main office should monitor the progress of there techs so that communication with the people that are waiting for service can be informed of what is happening.  It is very frustrating waiting for three hours not knowing if someone is going to show. Better communication is needed.  I stated that i would not used them but there also should an undecided at this time button to check.  I called them only because i want to give the my business to the local businesses but if there is a next time i will shop around. 

I felt as though I paid for very little service.  The technician walked into the house, listened to the refrigerator for 30 seconds and made his assessment.  His estimate for repair was high and I got to pay $90.00 for the experience.

I called Universe and asked them about my moms washer machine that was making "loud" noises and 'shaking" alot. The woman that answered the phone was very nice and helpful. I told her that i would be going back to MD in a few days and could they "fit" me in their schedule.  They were very accommodating and got us in 2 days later. They said they would be there between and 3 pm and 6pm. "Mike"  got there approx 4-4:30pm.  He was pleasant and professional. He came in and  went through the whole machine with a fine tooth comb to diagnosis the problem. He found that the problem was simple and quickly took care of it. I like that fact that he didnt try to make "extra money"  by adding problems that werent there. Because we had no clue what was wrong with it. Mike was honest and professional. He was great. I would definately use Universe again. They wont rip you off.

I had no contract with Universe.  They said they could be there in 2 hours on a Saturday.  They were there in 40 minutes.  The repair man told me the valve had to be replaced.  They did not have on the truck but could be back Monday.  They called Monday, the price was as given and they even gave me a pro-rated contract which saved me $100 dollars plus the $25 dollars off from Angie's List.  I would recommend this company to my friends. 

We had continuous water leaking from the bottom of our Sub-Zero refrigerator.  I called Universe in the morning and they were very responsive.  The techinican was at my house as promised between 1p.m.-3p.m.  The issue was diagnosed immediately.  The technician needed to order a drain line heater part which would be installed the next day.  I recieved a call the next day to install the ordered part.  The technician arrived as the time I was told, and the ordered part was installed.     We were very impressed with Universe.  They were very punctual and courteous.  I would call Universe for any other needs and recommend them.

The service tech was actually early , that made me happy. He saw the problem right away and repaired it fast. The washer is on the second load now and working great Thanks

They were great.  After he left it wasn't aligned properly, so he came right back and fixed it.  It was a difficult job and he did a wonderful job.

All my many experiences with Universe have been excellent: They are quick to come when I have a problem, even on a  weekend.  They seem to properly staffed to meet the needs of their customers. Their service personnel are polite, knowledgeable and specialize in the particular area they are involved with.  They don't make work.  If it's a simple repair, that's what they will do.  They goal seems to be building a long-term relationship as opposed to getting what they can from a one-shot deal. Their prices are reasonable. They  are a family business that's been around on Long Island for many years.

All of the repairs were done expertly and at a fair price, and the repairmen were always punctual. Even more telling, they declined to repair a dishwasher that they felt was beyond repair, when they could have charged an arm and a leg to perform a repair that would have been temporary at best. On another occasion, when I described a problem I was having with an appliance, they told me that they'd hate to charge me for a service call when the problem was something I could fix myself both easily and cheaply. They said that if I came into the shop they'd sell me the part for $3.00 and explain what I needed to do. I bought the part from them, followed their directions, and repaired the appliance myself. I should add here that, as a woman, I've more than once had repair shops treat me as if I were some kind of idiot. It was very refreshing to have Universe actually suggest that I do the repair myself. I will happily continue using them in the future.

The staff at Universe Appliance Repairs is great. I would say more than great. The owner is more intrested in keeping the customer happy than making money. They came to my house and gave me a quote that covered the whole job. I was given few dates for the conversion and they were right on money. My oil tank was leaking and I had to get the conversion done ASAP. Universe came through. I dealt with Cathy in the office. She is very knowlegable and professional. She actually corrected a very important error that could have derailed the schedule. The technical staff is very knowlegable and pleasent. Ed, Erick, Victor, Dan, Paul, Damon and many others (I apologize I am forgetting some names) were great. They did a clean Job. There was a issue with installing a stainless chimney liner in the chimney and Bill Powell the owner took upon himself and took care of it. Sales person told me I didn't need the stainless chimney liner for sure and it turned out that it was a requirement. As I said before the ower is more intrested in keeping the clients. I would strongly recomend Universe. If you want to get a job done right and not lose sleep over it then Universe is the right place. All in all great service.

The job went well. The service was good. It cost me $8500 to get the job done. They were on time. The work was kind of urgent and they did the job. I didn?t have any complaints. It took them three days to do the work. The supervisor was not very great, but the technician was good. He knew what he was doing. They were expensive but I will use them again in the future.

They were very nice and professional. They followed up with me, which I appreciated. If I ever decide to convert from oil to gas, I would call them.

Came promptly to evaluate the problem. Determined the module that operates the stove needed to be replaced. Gave me a price. I agreed and the part needed to be ordered. It came in in about a week and they then came back and installed it. If the part was in stock, it would have been much quicker, but otherwise the job was done timely. They also did not pressure us to repair the appliance (vs replace it).

The serviceman arrived in the window of time he gave us. He went quickly to work fixing the freezer. He said he hadn't received a message that the water dispenser was not working but that he would look at it and he did and he put in a new circuit board and fixed that also. I mentioned that the ice cube dispenser hadn't really worked correctly since we bought the refrig and he said it was a common complaint that you got crushed ice instead of cubes. He gave us some tips on how to make it better and said he would note on the receipt that we might need another part at a later date to fix it better but that we would not be charged for the additional service charge if they returned. We plan to call them back in the near future to correct the problem. Would never buy another GE product again -- will stick with Whirlpool.

Universe Appliance Repair is a very unique company. Although I had a problem with the initial call for service, the operations manager Frank called me the following week to discuss the issue. In addition to being very apologetic, he assured me he would address it with his staff and said it would never happen again. Not only did he apologize, but he also refunded the charge for the service call as a good faith jesture. I was extremely impressd by his desire to make this right. This kind of professionalism and dedication to maintaining such high standards is very rare in the service industry. As a result I would not hesitate to call them for service in the future. This is truely a first class company.
