Took a couple of weeks to get an exact date for the start of the project, but once we got the date they were there on time and finished in two days. I live in a duplex townhouse, so they had to deal with two owners. They were very accommodating to both of us and our questions. Gil and his crew left our property immaculate. You would never know they were there. Roof looks great. Time will tell about the quality of the work done, but getting it done couldn't have gone better. And they were the lowest of three estimates.

I was greatly disappointed by the lack of responsiveness and inability to follow through on what was indicated. To the extent the work could not have been performed, I would have preferred to have known this from the beginning instead of having my time wasted and the project unfinished for longer.
Description of Work: The provider came to provide an estimate and indicated that they would be able to help within the time required. However, the provider could only be contacted once more and the work was never completed.

Since I moved into my home, Cousins Roofing has done roof repairs to stop leaking and prevent ice build up which proved to solve the problem the following winter. They did the work in the fall of 2015 and it has held up beautifully.

Told us we didn't need to have our Gutter Helmets removed, that they could work around them. Came home to find them ripped off the roof and laying on the ground. Re installation of GH by Cousins was a mess. They've been back twice in an attempt to fix the problem. Now have to call the original installer to remove the entire installation, replace units they damaged, and reinstall properly. .They convinced us that we needed a ridge vent on our roof (we didn't have one). They installed the ridge vent, and on the outside it looked good. An inspector recently found that the opening they cut in the roof was too narrow, and that the opening was covered with tar paper, completely eliminating any benefit from the ridge vent. The inspector also noted that the ridge vent itself was nailed down so hard, it had compacted the material to the point where little air would have escaped even if everything else was done properly I will be attempting to get them to come back and fix this and will post a follow-up. During installation, they were supposed to replace two deteriorated skylights. I just happened to walk by the area where the skylights and saw they were flashing around the old ones. When I asked them about that, the installers didn't know anything about skylights. The didn't have the contract with them and had to call the office to find out if skylights belonged on the job. Skylights were eventually brought to the jobsite and the skylights were installed properly. The guys we dealt with were very personable and seemed to work hard while they were there. The roof shingles themselves look great. Warning.... they are very hard to get hold off. They don't return phone calls or emails.

Response from Cousins Construction
All issues have been corrected by us within 1 week of the initial call, However I would like to note a few things. The situation with the inspector and finding that the Opening for the ridge vent was not wide enough or that it was covered was false. I met with the home owner and inspected the attic with him and we both measured the opening and it was the specified 1 1/2 in as required. It was also not covered by any felt.Apparently the uneducated inspector mistook the built in insect netting for felt paper. There was no remedy needed there. As far as the issue with the Gutter Helmets goes, when we did the estimate we informed the customer that If he did not want to spend the money to remove and reinstall them we would work around them and it would void the warranty on them, this was done via email. When the new roof was installed we applied an Owens Corning Architectural shingle that had a larger coverage than the original 3-tab we removed. This made it difficult to Fasten the GH in the original position on the roof because in some areas it would have required us to nail the guards through the face of the shingles thus voiding the manufacture warranty on the roof. We had to stretch the coverage on them 1 inch in some locations to get the nail flange under the shingle witch opened the mouth where they meet the gutter apparently letting birds sneak in and nest. Regardless of the fact that there was no additional charge for working around the gutter guards and saving the customer roughly $26 per ft to remove and reinstall the guards from the original installers, we have gone back and fixed all the issues with them and evicted the birds for the customer .

Took off old shingles and replaced the roof. Did a great job cleaning up all the debris afterwards. Showed up when they said they would and finished on the day they had projected. Did have a long delay between the date the contract was initiated and the time of the service when there was no contact with the company due to winter weather and previously scheduled jobs in front of mine. Did not have a lot of warning before they were ready to begin my roof so I had to scramble to change my work schedule to be home to oversee work and make payment.

My roofing saga began 6 years ago when I hired some clowns to do the roof. they put on a good performance but time proved that they had actually installed a problem, not a roof. I struggled with the roof company, having 9 different roof inspections. The GAF inspectors all said the roof was fine. All the others said that the mold accumulating was due to a bad installation of roof ridge venting. So back and forth for a few years. Meanwhile, I discovered that there was a decking problem on my roof as well. the decking installed was warped, causing my roof to have a divot. since this was an "installation problem" instead of the clowns using the wrong material for the job, this wasn't warranty work. After clowning around with other companies who said they could do the job but could not, I found Cousins. They were responsive. They returned my phone calls and emails, usually. They told me what they were doing. They kept me from spending extra money on the repair. However since it was a GAF roof warranty repair, I was stuck waiting for GAF to approve the work, which took nearly 7 months. Fortunately it wasn't a leak. I did have a problem getting materials. I guess I picked a "rare" roof color or something, so it took a while to get the shingles. This was communicated poorly, and at one point they accidentally billed me for the roof work that had not been done yet. After a few emails, we figured it out and they apologized. So they showed up, when they told me they were going to, and got the work done quickly. They cleaned up everything and took their time to sweep for nails and other stuff with a magnet. I am satisfied with their work and will likely contact them again when I can afford to get my roof shed done.

They were prompt and finished the work in one day, but afterwards we noticed that one of the screens had been ripped by a shingle falling off the roof. At first, Cousins said they would be right out to take care of it, but then after a week, I called again and they claimed that the screen damage was not caused by them. They agreed to pay for the screen repair if I brought it to the shop to get fixed, but it turns out I had a replacement in my basement, so I never submitted the expense to them. The new roof looks great, and overall, I'm satisfied even though there were a few hiccups along the way.

I found them to be very professional. They kept in contact with me as the job went along. The estimate of time it would take was pretty accurate, but they found rotting underneath some areas which added to the cost and timeframe. As I don't live in the area, Jason sent me pictures of the work which was much appreciated. I definitely would use them again. Found out much later that all the debris from the roof was left in the attic. Tried several times to have it cleaned out but was unsuccessful. They weren't cooperative in our attempt to get the debris removed. Wound up paying a carting company to remove the debris. Considering how much we paid for the roof work, this should never have happened. Disappointing.

This crew came to replace our roofing on possibly, the coldest day of the winter. They were very professional and easy to work with . After the job was done 2 of the guys (Chuck and Jerry) came and spent many hours cleaning up and the job done was incredible! We always feel as if contractors should leave it "as if they were never here" but most do not. This crew did a better job then we have ever seen. I would surely recommend this company to someone in the future.

The team of roofers showed up on time, performed all work, cleaned up the site and returned a couple of days later to pick up the ladder and re-install gutter helmets that had to be removed. While there, they nailed a piece of soffit on that blew off, which had nothing to do with the roof, but they took care of it anyway, at no additional charge. The team was courteous and professional. My only suggestion for improvement would be to return phone calls to alert that someone is coming to the house because it was startling to see someone climbing a ladder outside the window unexpectedly.
Description of Work: Jason responded quickly to an after hours emergency call, assessed damage done to our roof and single-handedly provided a temporary fix with some tarps until a team could return to do the repairs. He discussed estimates with us and dealt directly with our homeowners insurance so we had nothing to worry about.

Unbelievably poor service. The major issue is that the gutters they installed fell down less than 6 months after installation. They did have someone come take a look a couple of days after I called them, but a couple of days after that I received a quote for removing the faulty installation and performing a new one. I have called and left 4 messages, none of which have been returned. My next call will be to the better business bureau. Their communication and professionalism has been poor since the start of this project. They gave me an estimate last summer, and a week or so later I called to tell them I'd like them to perform the work. It took a couple of calls to get this to happen. They were to arrive on the morning of the agreed date between 8 and 12. I wasted the morning waiting for them, and could not get through to anyone at the company when they did not arrive. I went to work, and came home to find them working on my installation. Nobody said a word to me when I arrived home, nor when I sat on the porch with my kid for an hour while they finished their work. One of the workers did nod and wish me a good night as he cleaned up right before they left, but no supervisor (or anyone) introduced themselves, said anything about the work, or apologized for being late. 5 months later, half of the gutters tore off the house after filling solid with ice. I'm told by other contractors that this indicates that they were not installed at the proper slope and the water could not drain before refreezing. There was no debris in the gutters clogging them as gutter guards were installed, and there was no evidence of leaves or anything clogging the drain. After the snow melted (finally) I called to ask them to take a look, and while they were responsive initially, it has been almost 3 months and they won't return any of my calls.

The gutters that were installed were done correctly and the pitch was fine. Any contractor who is asked to look at a job that another contractor "botched" according to a homeowner will most likely agree with some false supporting info like such. The gutters had Ice dams witch were 2ft thick even when we came to look at them down. Unfortunately is was a horrible winter and homes gutters, roofs, and exteriors in general needed substantially more maintenance than usual. Some people kept up on it others did not. If I install the driveway its not my responsibility to shovel it every storm is it ?

Mr. Loucks checked out the inside damage (leaks) and walked us around the mobile (double wide) and noted the roof to be in good condition and concluded there was no need for any roofing , even metal roofing, as it would actually be overkill with the present roof in good condition with probable 10 or more years. The leaks we have were caused only by ice backup and had not leaked with the most recent rather heavy rainstorms. He did not feel any reason that anything , other than painting the inside ceilings which we have an estimate provided in our search for the winter damage. We considered that a service for which he declined any payment for this advice.
Description of Work: Patrick Loucks arrived at the appointment requested and reviewed the damage incurred by winter storm and the further request of a metal roof which we considered a preventative measure for any further damage. see below

My pregnant wife and I have not been able to live in our home or rent out our upstairs apartment for over a month now due to the failure of Cousin's roof!!! Cousins construction fully replaced our old flat torch down rubber roof with a higher quality EPDM Full rubber roofing. I had also made sure they replaced the central drainage system and piping so there would be no excuses or points of failure blamed on a old roofing systems. ONLY 18 MONTHS later my wife noticed water dripping through our first floor bathroom. It was a Tuesday night in mid April. We traced the water back from above the second floor apartment and it was coming from the roof. We immediately called Cousins that night and they have no emergency line. The next day after more phone calls and messages, I finally got a woman on the phone who told me Jason would call me back shortly. HE NEVER DID! Also IT RAINED ALL week. COUSINS SHOWED UP ON FRIDAY DAYS AFTER OUR LEAK DISCOVERY to tell me there was nothing they could do, until I first called a PLUMBER to clear the drain that Cousins installed. There were no leaves backing up the drain, we keep and have kept the roof clear of debris. All they said was that we had to get a plumber, and the tech that told me this was accusatory and had a tone that this problem was our fault!!! 3 DAYS FOR THIS NEWS, WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME TUESDAY NIGHT! NO WARRANTY WAS HONORED. Companies like this are why Angie's List exists. It is unfortunate that they have so many positive misleading reviews. IT mislead me! I picked them off Angie's List because of their good reviews, and it is likely a result that most people get a new roof, there happy and they leave good feed back early on. BUT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG COUSINS CONSTRUCTION IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT THAT WARRANTY UNLESS YOU WANT TO HIRE A LAWYER! Both of our bathrooms were destroyed, and heavy water damage occurred in two of our house's bedrooms from the rainy week that this company neglected us, our phone calls, and their work. It may be weeks to months yet before we can move back into our home!

This is the most ridiculous review I have ever read. The roof was fine and still is. The drain flange and basket used was the same that would be used on a Walmart. And the actual plumbing was not done by us at all. There are several very important bits of info being left out here. 1.) The leak occurred in June after 2 of the worst winters ever with no leak. 2.) when he called to report the leak on a Saturday night it had not rained in hours nor was there rain in the forecast for the next week, or any before we came out. 3.) There was extensive masonry work done on the roofs para-pit walls after the roof was installed. So here is what really happened, The customer had the masonry work done witch consists of alot of sand etc. the sand was carried to the drain witch eventually clogged the plumbing that the roof drained into. The roof filled up like a swimming pool literally 3ft of water and leaked through the top of the flashing. We have pictures of the roof with the water on it and the drain completely unclogged witch shows that there is a plumbing issue. This is another case where the finger has to point somewhere

Horrible. They planned to roof with 4 days of rain forecasted. We called re: this. They said "they do it all the time." Day 2, heard rain IN OUR LIVING ROOM! Called. They came. Pouring rain through attic, then to second floor, ultimately to first floor. They came and repaired the tarps. Still leaked (tarps useless). Said "We will make it right." Big screen TV and tech equipment destroyed. We had experience with mold before and KNOW you must dry completely and quickly to prevent mold. They refused to listen. Within 2 weeks had mold in three floors that you could write your name in. Called Quick Response. Spend two week listening to equipment drying in out (which THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR) Then after telling us they would make it right-left us out in the cold. A "Hygienist" for the mold situation was sent by THEM. Determined over 24K in damage. They left us in the cold. We hired an attorney. Have an active law suit. They provided a multi million dollar liablilty policty that we discovered was NOT IN EFFECT when they did our job. Our local insurance company cancelled our policy and would not pay because of CONTRACTOR NEGLIGENCE!!!!!! So no we are forced to pay an attorney, to repair the damages, Quick Response (who was told by Jason personally he would pay their bill and didnt). Its a mess. Our house is still torn apart. Had to remove floors and insulation on three floors and spray to kill the mold. Mold company had to be paid out of pocket. Sheetrock ceilings etc etc. THIS COMPANY IS MAKING 10'S OF 1000'S OF DOLLAR AND WERE NOT INSURED AT OUR HOME AND HAVE NOT PAID ONE DIME TO RECTIFY OUR SITUATION. My parents are elderly and have little money to handle this. It is criminal! I will show you first hand what they did. ALL FACT! They left the eaves open and now dealing with a bat problem. No repairs have been made to unfinished roof. Never finsihed the porch metal contracted. I could go on for a week with this report. WE HAVE OVER 40K DAMAGES TO OUR HOME AND FORCED TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION TO REMEDY $$$$$$$$$$$$ FIND ANOTHER ROOFING COMPANY.

On Christmas, I noticed I had a leak in the roof. Went by the Angie's List rating and hired Cousins after dropping two other contractors due to lack of responsiveness. An appointment was made for the end of February, where we thought the roof repairs and some fascia work were to be done and then a subsequent appointment was made for the soffit work. However, on that first appointment, only the roof repairs were completed. Despite this misunderstanding on whoever's part, when they came to do the soffits, the small piece of fascia was installed. Furthermore, after the contractors left, I noticed that some fascia had been reinstalled a little cockeyed and gave Cousins a call. They came back the same day and, despite having pictures showing that the fascia was cut a little short to begin with, replaced the entire side of fascia for no additional charge. In short and in hindsight, only a couple of very minor issues and kudos to Kalub and Pat for getting the work done. So far, no more water in my living room!

The work was done exactly as described, my property was thoroughly cleaned up each evening, the crew showed up on time each day, what work was to be performed was explained each morning. I was told it would be a 2-3 day job, with bad weather forecast for the 3rd day the crew worked until dusk the first 2 days and got the job done before the rain/snow arrived. We noticed that the cap on my chimney had rusted out and blown off during the winter, Cousins installed a new one that I supplied at no additional charge. The materials used were exactly as described in the quote and look the same as on the manufacturers website, GAF/Timeberline Architectural shingles were used. Plywood sheets were used to protect windows under the work areas and tarps were laid out to protect landscaping and catch debris. While I would have preferred to pay less money, the job included an 1800 square foot expanded cape, a breezeway and an oversize 2 car garage. It also buys peace of mind with the manufacturer warranty on the roofing materials and Cousins warranty on the labor. If I were to need roofing work again, I would use Cousins Construction again. I have already recommended them to other people needing roofing work.

Like all of us in the Albany, NY area, I had a lot of snow and ice on my roof this winter, and icicles hanging from the gutters. When it got to the point where water was coming into the house, I called Cousins to have my roof cleared. I have always had good experience with Cousins in the past. I now think even more highly of this company. During the difficult process of removing ice from my roof, a gutter was damaged. When Jason heard of this, he sent a crew to my home to replace the gutter, free of charge. I will definitely be using Cousins again in the future, confident that they stand behind their work, and are ready to take responsibility for an issue and make it right. Kudos, Cousins!

I asked if they could be sure to avoid getting more snow on the deck, because we were worried about the weight of extra snow on it (we had already had some removed from the deck, so it wasn't as bad as on the roof, but we were concerned because of the amount of snow we'd been getting). They came on the date they promised, which was only a day or 2 after we called, and did a fantastic job. They cleared all the snow from the roof, and in addition, from the deck, even though we didn't ask them to do that! The only problem was that they forgot to avoid the front stoop, so that we couldn't go out the front door, and the snow was too heavy for us to clear ourselves. I called them back and left a message, asking if they could please come by the next time they had workers in our area to clear the stoop, and they did that the day after I left the message. They did an excellent job and were very responsive to our needs. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Cousins Construction had installed a new roof for us a few years ago. We called them to ask them to clear the roof of snow, since there was a good deal of accumulation up there.

My experience with Cousins Construction was excellent. They took off my old roof and they put on a new roof. They tiled it. Since they put the roof on, I figured that it’s a good idea to call the company that did that. They came and it was more than satisfactory that they took care of my roof. I would tell them that they did what they said they were going to do in a good amount of time. They were neat and clean. They did an excellent job. They told me they would be there sometime during the next day and they were there.
Description of Work: I had to get the snow taken off my roof.
