Cousins Construction

I used Angie's List to obtain quotes for a dormer roof replacement. I chose Cousins Construction because they quoted a good price and a timeline for project completion that was acceptable. My experience with Cousins Construction was excellent. The crew arrived as promised, was very professional, finished the job in the estimated time, and matched the shingles very nicely to the main roof. And there was no mess - they did an exemplary job of cleaning the job site. Vents were neatly installed where needed. Products and installation techniques met or exceeded current industry standards. We have had substantial rain since the install and there have been no problems. Thank you Cousins Contruction!

They honored the 5% Angie's List discount, which was awesome. Def very, very well priced. Received a call from Jason on a tentative start date a few weeks before the work was going to be performed. They were right on with the tentative start date. They showed up promptly in the morning and were completed by mid afternoon. Crew worked very hard and were very polite! They really were meticulous with cleanup and protecting the surrounding houses. I still can't find any trace that they were here working haha. I have a few other roofing jobs here that need to be done and I am not going to hesitate to call them back to schedule that work as well. One thing I have to call back on is I think the gutter people forgot to install a small piece of gutter next to the chimney, but will have to clarify that with Jason.

Done in full 2 days, despite rain on second day, met with co-owner each day to understand what would be accomplished. Each day there was full cleanup and removal of dumpster. Went great, looks great, no surprises, all work items performed as in contract, excellent closure, great crew to interact with.

They were meticulous- very careful about landscaping. Cleaned up after so one would not even be able to tell that work had been done. They did an excellent job on the roof. They came when they said they would, worked promptly. We were very impressed.

They provided a very detailed quote with instructions and what they would do for the stated cost. The work was initiated, but several things were done incorrectly or NOT done, only to be uncovered after payment. Key issues were: 1) the ridge vent - noted in quote it was to be opened to code, but only one side was done and it was done unevenly. 2) the yard was torn up where the truck (driven by Cousins) drove off the driveway, and left large trenches in the grass as the trailer carrying shingles was very heavy. Cousins made no effort to repair this damage.3) the wrong gutter was put on the home. While acceptable, it was a cheaper version that that noted in the quote and requested ... they ultimately did not ask for payment for this. Worst was a leak found in heavy rain several months later. Upon dodging phone calls for 3 days, Cousins finally showed up, admitted they didn't do the shingling in one area properly and it was their fault. They have not offered to help with damages to the interior of our home. Very disappointing. While cheaper than their competitors, they did not ask for customer feedback, have not answered calls for help. Troublingly, they noted upon arrival to fix the leak (from their error) that they "had 15 other calls" about similar issues ...

They are coming out in a couple of weeks to do the job. They were price-wise the best I could find. They seemed really professional and I got a good feeling from them. They seem pretty honest and the explained things pretty thoroughly.

We built our house and knew that there was a problem with the ridge vents (had one of them blow off during heavy storms on two different occasions). After completing the winterization, without prompting Cousins reported that the ridge vents had not been well secured and the vents used were not that good. I signed a contract to have them replaced and the work was done quickly and everything was cleaned up afterwards. My wife and I can tell the difference with the new vents, as they are much wider than the previous ones (and have not blown off).

I finally had a roof put on. That's the reason why I signed up with Angie's List in the first place. They were listed on Angie's List and they were the highest rated. My experience with them really validated Angie's List. They were the top rated, the closest ones I could actually get, contact, and I couldn't have been happier with it. We had a solar unit on our roof that had to be taken off while the roof was being put on, it had to be put back on, so, we had to coordinate between two contractors. Although we wanted to have it done in the fall, we had to have it done in the spring. Everything worked out very well, they were very prompt and the price they quoted was the price I wound up paying. We had a slightly larger roof than the ones in this area. It was less than I anticipated and I thought it was a fair price. They worked hard, they came early in the day, they did the roof, and completed the job in one day. I was really surprised at that and they did a really thorough, professional job all the way through. I'm really critical and tolerant, but, I'm really happy when they don't make mistakes. I don't expect it, these guys did their best job. I told Jason afterwards, I wasn't expecting it, in 25-30 years, I'm not going to worry about the roof. They would be first person I would call.

Excellent. I would have given them a AAA rating. They left the outside looking immaculate. They were all very polite gentlemen. Cleaned up everything and left the house looking great.

Patrick and his crew arrived on time and worked diligently for two full days installing the roof, fascia and gutters. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The crew worked really hard from early A.M. to dinner time each day . The house and garage roofs were completed in three days.

I can only say that they, and their employes were very professional. All had a pleasant personality. Work was done, fast and well. I did have 2 call backs for leaks. First time they were there within 2 hours, puttered around and applied treatments, admitting that they had no idea, what it was. The second call back also had great response. This time a different person came. he spotted that the problem was a stone cap on a brick wall. No leaks!! It did not go 100% perfect. I must admit that I think they did the job 100%. The area that eventually was targeted as the source of the leak (stone cap on brick wall) was invisible to most, although Jason spotted it immediately. I would hire again, and do highly recommend this company.

The owner quickly came out and assessed what might be causing the leaks and personally did the repairs himself with a co-worker. Simply stated it was one of the most professional contract services I have seen in a long time. 1) The price quote was professional 2) The work was perfomed quickly and on time 3) The owner asked if I wanted to see what was causing the leaks during the repair 4) Clean up was tremendous 5) Communication was excellent 6) There was no attempt to quick close the deal or to upsell services or expand the scope of the project (re-foof the whole house for example) Cousins should be the benchmark for other home improvement companies

Excellent - company was responsive, explained options gave detailed estimate and performed work as promised. Always responded to phone calls and questions, did good clean-up job. Polite and professional. Would definitely use again and recomment to other members.

They were marvelous. They did a wonderful job. I was very happy. They are very honest people. I am having them come back to do my garage roof. They did a great job. They were very competent. They were very thorough. They were on time. They have been in business a long time.

They promptly came and gave me a written estimate which when signed, became the contract. It was very clear as to what would be done. I got another estimate from someone else, and I was able to talk to Cousins about the issues this contractor brought up. I felt that the work he described was really needed to permanently fix my leaking roof, and so I signed the contract and sent it off. They came with a crew of men. Did the work in about an hour and a half. The foreman took off his shoes before entering my home to tell me they were finished. I inspected the work as best I could from the ground, asked about a few areas I was unsure of and he sent his men up to check them and fix anything I was concerned over. They cleaned up so well you'd never know they were here! I was very pleased and also, I'm not seeing any more leaks in my roof so far. I would definitely recommend them to others.

I have called them back a couple times to ask them questions and they always have time for me.

They gave me a written estimate of everything they were going to do. They told me how much it was going to cost ahead of time. They told me when they were coming and they did. They finished the job in the time they said. Everything was fabulous. They cleaned up beautifully afterwards. The price wasn't too high or too low. I would absolutely use them again.

Estimate was extremely detailed far more than other bidders on the job. The contract was returned and the job was tentatively scheduled for about 6 weeks ahead. References were provided as requested---they were excellent and detailed. Firm date was set about 3 weeks ahead since we need need to coordinate part of the job with another contractor. There was one communications glitch which was resolved appropriately. The workers were timely, courteous and professional. They constantly picked up after themselves and and followed up on each of the details as outlined in the estimate. This is a family business which is now in its third generation and the business owners are very conscious of the firm's reputation for quality results. They deliver! They are not the cheapest roofers in the area and you may have to wait, but the end result is worth the wait.

They didn’t end up doing any service because they were good and honest and told me that I didn’t need it. I really appreciated that. I got there reference from Angie’s List and they came out to inspect my roof as I was having a leak last winter. They offered to do the service but they said that we could do the service ourselves and all it would take was to remove some shingles from the roof. They were just very honest about it and they didn’t charge us anything. I would go back to them should I need roofing repair. It would have cost us $200 if we had them do the job but they said that if my husband was willing to go up the roof with the sledge hammer then that’s all it would take. When I seen that my husband was willing to do that we went ahead and did it ourselves. I appreciate the fact that they looked at the roof and they were honest about what needed to be done and said that it was something we could do ourselves.

They did a beautiful job. I liked their friendliness and their prompt service.

Sealed everything up and they were very professional and curteous. Will use them again.

The inspection and maintenance service went so well, I inquired about sealing 6-roof vents which were leaking after 50 years. John advised removing the existing box vents and installing an 85' roof vent system by Owens Corning. He gave me an estimate. I excepted the proposal and the work began in a couple of days. I took 3 men all all one day to complete the job. That included removing existing caps on main house & the garage wing, cleanup and removal of all debris.
